After solo grinding the final stretch, I finally managed to get the skeleton curse. I would not have got it with the help of my friends.

Good for you dude I ran into a glitch that did not count my games for like 7 hours would be like level 55 ish right now (killed like 30 ships that had emissaries) but am only 25 now because level did not change at all nor did it give me credit for invading and sinking ships

As far as I know when you put on the skeleton curse you make bone rattling sounds whenever you move. I don't have the legendary curse yet but the legendary curse makes your character glow. Other than that it doesn't really change the way you play the game.

Unfortunately yes, it's going to take a while but you'll eventually get there.

You can raise the reaper flag during hourglass pvp to get exp for both
