Want to know how to paint a Basketball court? Is it even paint? I took the time to research and make my own basketball court. I was inspired from NBA Street on Gamecube, my favorite childhood game.

NBA Street has a court you can play on called Ruckers Park and its based on real courts in New York City. Until I started this project I had no idea what it was going to cost, not including poring the slab I realized I could stain and enjoy my own Ruckers Park court for less than $200. Of course the size of the court matters and I would make the assumption that for 400sqft you’ll end up spending $180.
I chose to paint my court based off the dimensions of a middle school court, I just made the key 2/3rds the size of the standard. This puts the 3 point line 4’ closer to the hoop but I think it allows the space we need to play the game.
All in all it was quick, easy, and fun to Stain, if I had more dedicated time I could’ve been done in 2 days, the first day primer and stain, the second day lines. I spent 3 days total. I was surprised how affordable it was.

Hi there. I did the concrete last year for my son. This year he wants it painted. Everywhere says to use acrylic paint the no skid type of paint but I don’t see great reviews. The stain you used is it anti slip? Do you know if the stain is better to use then the paint? Thank you so much :) 🏀

Is you concrete surfaces swept or smooth? This deep base stain is meant for basketball and tennis courts among other purposes. Although if your Slab polished smooth you’ll need to sand the surface first. You can refer to Behr deep base concrete stain online for specific needs.

Also stain is the proper material to use. As it stains the concrete more than just covering the concrete. I recommend the Stain Primer to bond better

How has the paint held up? Any peeling or wear so far?

It basically looks just as good as it was when I applied it last year. Might want to pressure wash it this summer but the colors are still vibrant and it held up over the winter. All in all, very happy with it. The primer really helped.

Is that a broom finish concrete???

We used a 4’ aluminum spreader to smooth it out. It’s not the best finish but it’s fair for 2 guys and a couple of yards of concrete in an afternoon.

It looks great aside from where my kids dragged the trampoline on the court
