Govee LED Car Lights Install (underglow)

- We are installing an underglow LED kit from Govee on Electra just in time for Halloween. We go through some steps of the install and features that come with this kit. Let me know what you think by commenting below and smashing that like.

Just a heads up for people new to underglows, DO NOT USE BLUE lights u will get pulled over

Red and blue really. At least while driving. Could get an impersonating a cop charge.
Where I’m at you get pulled over even havin em on while driving no matter the color😂 but the risk makes it all the more fun
Before installing just check your state and local laws on underglow. Most states don't allow you to drive with red or blue

@@N2MYGT I do have one question, do the lights automatically turn on, or do you have to start the car? Or do they only turn in if you you use the remote or the app?
@@trentenmellott7284 only when you use the remote or app. I'm sure there is a way you can wire them to turn on with the car tho🤔 mine flashed when I cut the car on but didn't stay on unless I used the remote. I hope this helps

Great video. Very informative. I bought these and want to install these myself. I'm very nervous. About how long did it take you total you think if you didn't have to film? Did you take the tires off and is that neccesary? I have the strips and the rock lights.

Great video. How has the kit held up since installation? Thinking about getting one of their kits, and I understand that it's very cheap, but I don't want to tear it all apart in a few months, you know?

Instead of connecting to the battery, would it work, if you connected it in the trunk, to maybe a lantern or marine battery???
I would wire that, instead, to a switch that doesn’t draw constant power. My fog light switch will probably be that switch. That way I can toggle them on and off, and so I don’t have them on during the day.

Have u droven in the streets like that? I read that its not illegal driving around with them on but certain colors you can not use: red, blue, and green . What im trying 2 ask have u gotten stop by have these on?
They are legal, of course I wouldn't recommend blue or red.
Do you just run the positive cane to the battery terminal? Then grounded it off?
There is a couple ways of doing it. I connected mine to my fuse box where the main power comes in. Then I used where an existing ground is to ground it. You can use the battery terminals if they are closer. I would also recommend possibly doing a 10 amp fuse that the kit did not bring

Hey if you are reading this, how did the sides hold up after rain and whatnot? It looked like the sides were held up by 3m adhesive only and thats what I might have to do as well, so does it hold up well? Thanks
I have them zip tied in the fender well. I didn't even use the 3M I came with it
@@N2MYGT Oh okay! Thank you for your assisting. I was forced to drill into my side skirt under it to use the screw, rubber bracket. So are your lights holding good still? Sorry for poor english lol.

Do these lights have a rainbow setting? (All at the same time, not pulsing different colors)
The new set do. I did a set for my wife's car and I believe those are the newest ones out. I've actually done a couple sets on different cars and they seem to work good and they bring a separate remote so you don't have to use the phone if it's not handy

Is there a way to make sure that these turn on when I unlock my car with the key fob? For example when it's dark I'd like the lights to come on when my headlights turn on when I unlock the car.
There is definitely a way I'm sure. I wouldn't advise it unless wherever you are from does not care about the undergloo being on

Can you list the extra items needed that’s not in the box ?
The kit itself is essentially plug and play. The only thing that it doesn't bring is a fuse. Now this part can be optional or you can probably purchase an inline fuse for about 10 bucks or so. But again the kid itself is definitely complete
To be honest I installed mine it took me about four hours and then it only worked for one hour and it burned out It’s not worth it I believe
Mine is still going strong over a year or so. They will replace it

Sorry I didn't show that. The box is in the fender well on the passenger side. I did have it come in at one point but I didn't like the way it looked. The wires go through a little hole in the shock tower which lets the box sit out of the way.

I really watched like 25 of these videos trying to figure out how to do the actual wiring to power the lights but every video is just everyone showing where they put their lights …

What is the modes avalible in that kit only stand colours and flashing ? Or there is rainbow mode or wave mode
They have a new kit that does the chasing light AKA rainbow or wave mode. The kid that I have does not do that. The one that I'm thinking about giving away does
I agree with N2MYGT. I have the older kit too. Two of the LED strips have went out. I just ordered their new kit today. It should be here Tuesday. I will keep you guys posted on how it turns out 👍🏿

Does this drain the battery wen the car is off
It is such low voltage that it would have to be on for weeks

Yeah it's not too bad. More kind of planning where you want things and making sure that nothing is in the way takes a few minutes.
So connect them straight to the car battery ?
That is an option. There's a few ways that it could be done. Like I did in mine I tied it in to the main fuse box in the ground near.

I have these on my Jeep and I don’t like how they turn on by themselves intermittently. Same thing happens with Govee home lighting. Only downfall to this product IMO
You could wire them to your fog lights, that way you have a hardwired switch inside the car controlling power to them, plus the app
