Scalevo, the stair-climbing wheelchair

- Students from ETH Zurich and the design school ZHdK fashioned a wheel chair able to climb stairs safely and swiftly while also functioning as a conventional wheelchair. The Scalevo uses two rubber tracks that fold out to any angle and two large wheels on which the the chair balances while rolling on flat ground. A lone NI myRIO controls the motors and actuators involved. The control algorithm is that of an inverted pendulum. ETH Zurich students describe the details in this short video.

The stairs climbing is excellent. But I think to use the body to accelerate or stop may be a problem to some ppl.

where is the Hover chair designers , because of aluminium the same can be really lightweight and the chair can lift 3 inches of the ground and the side to side and forward could be routed via a rubber skirt or via hollow tubes , the chair position can be on a giro , the motors i can be small positioning blowers and the main downwards thurs can be a more powerful one ,or you just want a rear directional airflow rudder ,it would and curbstones go up stairs ,over water

Hi my name is Alberto you might not know this. But I'm June 10th there was an ad on Facebook about your wheelchair that goes up and down the stairs for $25. They came directly from your company. With tax and all came out to 36 something and I keep on getting email saying that I'm getting the chair and I'm disabled because I am missing a leg. And I don't deserve to be treated that way so I think you should know that somebody. Did this to a lot of people I don't know that it was not just it was on Facebook on June 10th because that's the day I bought it.
