I use the same pre-kite method with the A's & brakes. You get far better results with a harness though. I find as you hold the A's it tends to collapse the leading edge sometimes. I've almost perfected it now though. I'm currently doing small flights from a practice hill.

Joshua Wilson I practiced kiting on my own. But I trained with Dan Decker at TN PPG.
