What is the type of cord. Twisted or braided

I have almost finished. When i try to connect the alternate columns the working cords are too short and the two ropes in the middle. are too long. Besides i wnt to know if the sides are to be worked on the knots with bigger holes or on each knot. It is not clear from the video. Also it is not clear if the the braided sides are to be pulled through the every stich or alternate ones. Please let me know soon. I am waiting for your clarification. Thanks.

I'm using 3mm braided cord. I've finished the bag and it's much smaller than the picture on this video. It measures about 19cm (8 inches) square. I like it but it's more the size of a phone bag.
