I know this presentation is 2 years old, but I just found it and wanted to say it was first class. It was/is truly inspiring.
So glad you enjoyed it!
I've been an avid amateur photographer for more than 30 years. This is one of the best lectures (webinars) I have ever seen. You gave us so much valuable information! Lately, I've been wondering "what's the point". Your words and images have inspired a new approach and goal for me. Thanks so much for sharing your experience, knowledge and images!
Thanks so much for taking the time to let me know what this meant to you. I'm so happy to hear it. Hope you make some great new images now!
I have watched this again and it's one of the very few CZcams videos that actually excites me, gives me a wealth of ideas and makes me want to grab my camera and get out. Many, many thanks Judy.
You're so welcome, Berny. I'm glad you got some value from it.
This is a fundamental truth you are covering with minimalism. You instantly changed my mind and forever. I can’t wait to go out there and train my new eyes onto this world.
That's great. I'm glad you got so much out of it.
So many photography tutorials on CZcams focus on the presenter - a talking head - and less on the images. Your tutorial kept me immersed for its duration, a rare occurrence on CZcams, and has made me think seriously about the way I compose images. It is a revelation, and I have been taking photographs for more years than I care to remember. You have created a presentation that is second to none that delivers the key concepts. I need to watch this again and again. As an education presenter I can always recognise a teacher. Power to your elbow madam! You are a shining light among mundane photographic educators. Keep these videos coming, please!
Bob... what a lovely comment to leave me. Made my day. I'm so glad you've found inspiration here. I don't post new videos terribly often, but I think if you hit the bell and subscribe, you'll be notified when there's a new one. I'm thinking about one on high key and low key next.
This is absolutely spot on. I am quite inspired to try this, thank you Judy.
Thanks, Geoff. Have fun playing.
I echo Rodolpho's comments, noting the simplicity of delivery, excluding your own visual presence. Outstanding. Thank you Judy.
You're so welcome! Glad you enjoyed it!
It’s good to be reminded about a type of photography and seeing that I’ve forgotten for long stretches of time
Thanks.
Very inspiring. I love the way you start wide, as one would likely see the scene and then work your way to an essential view. Thank you for this presentation.
Thank you!
This was beautifully done! I enjoyed your knowledge as well as your tone in teaching. Thank you for sharing this valuable information. I look forward to incorporating it to my photography work!
Thanks for your comment, Christina. I'm glad you found it helpful.
Thanks. At 82 and still learning you showed me the way. Just a wonderful presentation.
Glad it was helpful! New video just posted on black and white. Hope you'll enjoy that one, too.
excellent video. Without all this fanciness of visual effects and pretentious music. Pure knowledge and isnpiration in its simplest form. After watching so many videos about photography, this presentation was an oasis. Thank you for sharing.
Thanks. I'm so glad you enjoyed it.
I love this; I've been moving more and more toward minimalism in my music, and recently began to appreciate artists like Mark Rothko. This video has really helped me to wrap my head around photography as a minimalist art form. To some extent, it feels like learning things that we inherently know, but need help to recognize and clarify.
Wonderful! Thanks so much for your comment.
Thank you for helping me understand the essence of minimalism! It's really nice to learn about minimalism through your many examples!
You are so welcome!
This is such an inspirational tutorial Judy. Thank you for taking the time to share.
You are so welcome! I'm glad you found it inspiring.
Wow. Thank you so much for this tutorial. I stumbled upon your tutorial and I’m so happy I did. Taught me a new way to see. I’m going to incorporate minimalism into my photography from now on. Looking forward to watching all your tutorials.
I'm so glad!
Oh wow, I just stumbled across this webinar when looking for guidance on this subject and it has awakened something within me! I’ve watched so many tutorials on all kinds of photography and this is the most powerful I’ve seen. Thank you for sharing your thoughts and inspiration ☺️
That's wonderful! Thanks for your comment.
This is the best tutorial I ever saw. Your examples opened my eyes. Thank you sooooo much.
Thanks so much Karin. I hope to get more up in the future.
What a life changing tutorial for a novice photographer! May the Almighty bless your soul!
Thank you! And blessings to you as well.
Thank you for sharing for your ideas and encouragement. I will give it a try this weekend.
Thanks, Yauki. Have fun with it!
i almost never give feedback or comment on any post or video that i see... but this video of yours was probably the best i've ever seen... very emotional on so many levels... i'm very grateful that i had the chance to see it! thank you so much, it was extremely motivating and inspiring! you changed the world with this, i hope you know that! thank you!
Thanks so much for these kind words. I'm so glad you enjoyed it.
I didn't know why I found minimalism so appealing, but I think you helped show me why in this video. "Essence." It's the finer details. It's the new perspective. It's the raw wonder and appreciation for simplicity that just evokes emotion for some inexplicable reason. And at the end you said something very meaningful, "if it speaks to you, go for it." I've always felt like minimalist photography wasn't worth showing to others, because it just looks so simple, but I like it so I shouldn't be embarrassed that it is simple. Thank you.
Thanks, Nate.I'm so glad this spoke to you. In this busy, crazy world, we can all benefit from a little simplicity. Keep shooting! Thanks for your kindness in responding.
This was absolutely fantastic!! I cant thank you enough for this webinar. Amazing photography, amazing ideas, amazing artist!
Thanks so much. I'm glad it was helpful to you.
Thank you for sharing your thoughts on simplicity. You helped me realize how to look at most of the photographs that I had forgotten and quite frankly my work is very similar to yours. I love to strip my subject to its essential especially flowers but never quite realized the power of their emotional qualities until today. You have given me confidence in my abilities and for this I thank you from the bottom of my heart.
That's great. You're so welcome.
This is one of the most meaningful tutorials I ever took. Thank you very much Judy. And please let us know about your exhibits.
Thanks, Rodolpho. I'm so glad you enjoyed it. You can see my work at my online gallery: JHHphoto.com
@@judyhancockholland8007 thanks for sharing this
This has to be one of the best photography tutorials I've seen on youtube. I got so much from this.
Wow, thanks! Glad it was helpful.
Judy, I can't express enough how inspiring your video is. I watched already a lot of tutorials her on youtube but this one truly stands out in many wonderful ways. In the same way you compose your photographs you also narrow the explanations down to the absolutely essence. Thank you so much for this tutorial! Looking forward to see more and will subscribe to your channel straight away plus telling some photographer friends about you.
I'm so glad you enjoyed it.
Thank you so much for opening my eyes to the new world of seeing things around me .
Certainly the minimalism has the art of seeing in itself .
You are so welcome!
Judy, thank you for telling me why I was doing something for years but never realized WHY I was doing it!
Your comment made me chuckle. Keep shooting!
@@judyhancockholland8007 I began using this approach during my figure drawing classes as a Freshman in college in 1968, and in my (amateur) photography! Always looking at/for the angles, and patterns of dark and light. I found myself almost holding my breath while watching this video. Thank you!!
Amazing. I wondered, it’s so simple , explanatory and inspirational. A teacher can only deliver like this. Expecting more tutorials about the Art of Photography ❤️
Thanks a ton. I'm working on one right now on composition... hope to have it up soon.
I am so happy I stumbled upon your video today! I actually stopped the video many times and took notes. You've opened up my eyes to the world of Minimalist Photography and I can't wait to get started. Thank you so much!
Wonderful!
Not only are you a talented photographer but also an inspiration. Thank you for an excellent insight into minimalism.
Wow, thank you! My pleasure.
Judy, thanks for this wonderful video on Minimalism in photography. I’m looking forward to practicing “seeing” in a new way.
Thanks for your comment, Elisabeth. This approach has really helped me "see" better.
Amazing! Amazing!! Amazing 👌 video here Judy..
I found it insightful with lots of substance. I'm actually itching to go out there and retake some photos right now..
Thank you so much for this.
It's the best video I've see on minimalist photography so far..
Thanks Eyitemi. Have fun with it!
WOW! “Of” the image vs “about” the image! Thank you for sharing.
Glad you liked it!
one of the very few no-nonsense educational/inspirational videos I've seen in a long time. 💯Judy, thanks so much for making/sharing this video. ✌🏾
You are so welcome!
Judy, thank you so much for sharing your experience and vision. I have had a hard time trying to find my style. While I was watching your tutorial I ran to my instagram gallery and found I have been trying to minimize for a long time. Now I have a clear understanding of what minimalism is and how I can approach to it with more confidence. Thanks again.
That's wonderful! Thanks for commenting.
Thank you Judy for opening my eyes and mind. Love your presentation.
You are so welcome.
What a wonderful eyeopener into a world of photography that I had never seen. Thank you very much for sharing your thoughts and insights
Glad you enjoyed it
Wow!
Love your images. I have been looking for something to get me excited about photography again. This is it!
Go for it!
OMG! I can relate to this photography option. Was living the moment. Excellent!
So cool! Thanks for your comment.
Wow. Thank you. This gives me another way to look at and photograph life. The details. Stuff we don’t notice every day.
Great to hear! Glad you found it useful.
Wow! This is the way a presentation should be -minimalist!
Glad you think so!
Thank you for pointing out things I´ve already been drawn to, but not yet thought through. This video has helped me a lot understanding what I was searching for.
I'm so glad!
Your way of telling is really good one of the best tutorials !!!!
Thanks, Saurabh.
So much information and inspiration packed into 37 minutes. Beats anything related to photography that I have seen. Thank you!
Wow, thanks! So kind of you to say so!
Your tutorial has been the best 37 minutes I have ever spent in discovering what I really want to do with my photography. Thank you so much!
Wow, thanks! I'm so glad you found it helpful.
Can not find words to express enough how grateful I am for this presentation. Thank you. It made a change in me that I needed.
What a lovely comment! You are so welcome!
Excellent inspirational ideas for anyone who wishes to expand and improve their photography or just gain a new perspective. Thank you Judy!
My pleasure!
The best minimalist presentation I have ever seen. Thank you so much!
You are so welcome!
This was a wonderful tutorial, clear and specific. I'm new to photography, mainly street photography. But watching this video made me realize that for year I've taken random photos very close to subjects like plants, textures in nature etc. Of the same essence you example in your own work. By the end of the video I realize I've always been a 'closet minimalist', I just didn't know their was such a style of photography. I've felt quite blocked lately, but Judy, you've lit up the fires of inspiration and I can't wait to get out and about to see what I can capture. I've been feeling down in the dumps lately. You've given me something to look forward to. Judy, thank you so much. You've given me the kick up the butt I needed to get going again. 🙏🧏♀️📷
That's so cool! Have fun!
This is one of the best video I have ever seen on photography, just love it the way you have explained! Essence of the subject is most important thing in the photos. Thanks a lot for sharing this 🙏🏻
Glad you enjoyed it!
I love your tutorial. Very Inspirational. No nonsense, just what I was looking for. Thank you so much. Brilliant!
Glad it was helpful!
Thank you Judy for putting into words what I do a lot. So your shots made perfect sense to me but explain it far better.
Glad it was helpful!
This is the second time I view the video. And I learn again about the feeling of a good minimalist picture. Thanks for the presenting your photography as a nice piece of poetry. .
You are so welcome! Glad you enjoyed it.
Judy, your talent and explanations of minimalist photography are amazing
Thank you!
Pity CZcams does not have a STAR Rating system!! Else, I would easily rate it at 5 star out of 5. True to the subject line, Judy has kept the entire presentation MINIMAL, simple, to the subject, and about the subject. No words are enough to praise her work.
Absolutely recommended to watch, follow, and fall in love.
Thanks so much! Hope you enjoy my other tutorials as well.
Thank you for sharing with us your vast talent and experience !!
My pleasure! Glad you enjoyed it, John.
This is what I have been searching for after many years of photographic soul searching. I could not visualize it better. I found my way today. Thanks very much, Judy.
Wow, thank you! So glad it was helpful. I've just put up part 2 of my composition series. You might find those helpful, too.
One of the things I enjoy most about learning new aspects of photography is how they inspire me to get out and shoot! I primarily shoot landscapes, but I really enjoy other aspects because they encourage me to look at things differently. Anything I can do to see more and see better is a good thing. Thanks for this video!
You're welcome! I don't shoot much landscape myself, but minimalist landscapes can be very powerful. Michael Kenna's work stands out in that regard.
Thank you Judy for showing us to see more of the beauty of life and this world.
You're so welcome.
I wish I had seen this video before I ventured out in the winter landscape in the weekend. You have given me great ideas for impactful photos I should be able to find in the snowy forest. I hope the snow is still there next weekend. Thanks a lot for this
Great to hear! Glad you found it helpful.
Absolutely stunning teaching about grace and beauty, I'm watching little by little to savour as much as I can the details of this lesson about how less is more
Wonderful!
One of the best lectures on minimalist !
Thanks! New video just posted on black and white. Hope you'll enjoy that one, too.
Wow your tutorial is amazing. You had that capacity to change my view towards my photography. Love this video.
So glad you enjoyed it.
Judy, this was fabulous!!!! I learned so much, you opened my eyes even more!! I love what I do, what captures I have taken, but believe this is the "something special" that I've been looking for in my work.......Definitely gonna look at the world a bit differently now! Thank you!
Wonderful! Thanks for letting me know how it affected you.
It's March of 2022 and I wishing I had discovered this video sooner. What a treat to find another artist that "sees" much the same way I do. Knowing I have an exhibit this coming June and struggling with what to present, you have provided the answer, thank-you! Your comment about needing something less complicated rings especially true after two years of the "damnpenic". I believe that people are seeking something uncluttered and peaceful at this time.
Thanks for your comment. I'm glad you enjoyed it.
Love your style and most of all your natural ability to open our eyes to seeing differently thank you
You are so welcome
I have been watching the first 10 minutes and I’m so happy and excited to take my camera, I really love minimalism as a philosophy, and as a graphic designer my goal its to shot minimalist pictures and design minimalist posters, etc. thanks so much Judi for such a great video! 👏🏻 ❤️ 👋
You're so welcome!
I came across your video by chance, but I'm glad I watched it. Not only did I learn a lot and see a different aspect of photography in general, but I felt homesick.... I lived in Nanaimo for several years and even recognized some of the locations of your images in an instant, I'm now back in Europe. By just looking at your images I could smell the air of the Island and feel what I have been missing. Thank you, Judy!
What a lovely comment. Glad you enjoyed it!
What a wonderful 37 minutes!! I was meant to find you here - I'm just at the beginning of my photography journey and am struggling with my confidence to actually get out there and do it. Circumstances dictate obviously in these times but I'll certainly be trying to 'look/see' in a different way going forward - even if I don't have my camera with me at times! So thank you Judy - your images are as special as was your tutorial. P.
Thanks for the lovely comment, Paul. I'm so glad you found it helpful.
I literally stopped a few minutes in, to take a picture of something I noticed that was the same color blue as one of the slides. I was inspired immediately! Loved this video!! Thank you!
How wonderful! Good for you!
Judy, this video is delightful! Your presentation is clear, direct, easy to understand. And so many times I felt myself moved by the images. Beautiful. Thank you for doing this.
You are so welcome!
I am moved by your work and grateful for your clear analysis and suggestions. Your photographs, especially of flowers, create the urge in me to move in that direction. I am grateful for your teaching.
Many thanks!
Thanks so much for sharing your beautiful yet informative video about minimalism. Love it!
Thanks for watching!
Thank you for doing this video, it shows that you're an educator. You get the message across and kept it interesting and engaging.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Thank you SO much! I love minimalist photography but didn't realize how many everyday items can be photographed! Thank you again for an excellent webinar!
Glad it was helpful!
Just found this Judy, was not looking for minimalist but has always been one on my wait list to do, while watching I realized this is very much where my photography journey has been trying to head me. Thank you very much for this tutorial.
You are so welcome!
very good, thank you, i love the omission. some are overwhelmed with it
I'm glad you like it
Thanks for sharing and including the before and after pictures. This was really useful!
Instant subscription 👍
I'm glad you found it helpful.
Extremely well done video. I learned a ton about minimalist photography. I haven't picked up my camera in more than 8 years and this makes me want to start shooting again.
Wonderful!
Wonderful presentation! I had no word for it, but this is increasingly the style I have been drawn to. I have also been bringing in dead flowers and focusing more and more on macro shots where you can see form, light, texture. This presentation has been incredibly helpful to me.
I'm glad. Thanks for commenting.
I enjoyed the video. Nice to know I was often shooting minimalist back in my film days before I knew the term, and still today. One of my favorite landscape lenses is a 200-300mm zoom used close just for cropping into the small sections of a scene. Those can be so powerful. Well presented. Thank you.
Thanks! And I agree that minimalism can be very effective in landscapes, though I don't shoot many of those myself.
This was a very powerful video with a very powerful message, and I loved it. She kept it simple all the way.
Thanks, Michael. I'm glad you found it helpful.
I felt i couldn't develope my photography much more and then... this masterpiece poped up. I didn't kow, but obviously this is exactly what i require to make it to the next level.
Judy, thanks for making this! If you have the time, please continue you fantastic work. One day, people will understand, this is what they reaquires and not the latest gears.
What a lovely comment. Thanks so much... made my day.
Wonderful speech with extraordinary examples to show and tell! Brief, clear, beautiful and powerful! I love it! I learned something that I thought I knew already but in fact not. Thank you so much!!!
Wonderful! Glad it was helpful!
I find this to be full up to the brim with great advices. Simple, understandable and so nice. Thank you.
Glad it was helpful!
Thank you for sharing. I am a traditional portrait portrait photographer. With the pandemic finding opportunities to shoot people has left me in a bind. Your webinar has opened my eyes to a new world of opportunities. It has also forced me to look for the “not so big” picture. I especially enjoyed all the examples you presented.
That's so cool! Thank you!
This is my first encounter with minimalist photography and I am blown away. Thanks, Judy for sharing this.
You are so welcome!
Learned more in this one video than in all the others together....thanks Judy
Thanks, James. So glad you found it useful. I'm a bit slow at getting others up, but do plan to do so.
showing the example pictures and explaining the way you do is a great way to teach this subject. great vid
Thank you! Cheers!
Photography allows us to play with light, and your lesson reminds me to be creative and "play" with my art. I have been wanting to break away from the "reality" landscape photos, and capture a more intimate feeling of what I was witnessing. I stumbled upon your 1st video, this one, and realize that this is what I've been attempting to capture all along, only you have put it in a nice package, with a bow on top. Thank you for your minimalist reminder about simplification. I enjoyed your images, and hope to see more videos from you.
Thanks, Lav. Yes, I find minimalism quite an intimate form of expression.
one of the best presentations on minimalism...Thanks for doing this.
Glad you liked it!
On occasion I dip into this style of photography and I always like what I come away with. Your video made me realize the "why" of what I like about those pictures... the fine detail of the view. The last few minutes of your video did a good job of leading us into the mind set of shooting "minimalist". Thank you for taking the time to lead us into a special style of photography.
You're welcome. New video just posted on black and white. Hope you'll enjoy that one, too.
I have to say this has been one of the most amazing and powerful professional videos ever created.
Wow! Thanks! I'm so glad you found it helpful.
Very enlightening with a clear message. The variety of examples lends to different approaches or refinements of how to see with a purpose not just taking a pretty picture.
Glad it was helpful! New video just posted on black and white. Hope you'll enjoy that one, too.
This video opened my eyes! I came to this video accidentally, but this is an exactly what I has been looking for some years. I see such minimalism all the time in my daily life, but never came to this like 'this is what I want to do'. Thank you, Judy, for such inspiration! Video content is great, informative, clear, with many examples and explanations! (I am going to crop my pictures :D).
I'm so glad! Have fun!
This is one of the best webinars I have come across on CZcams, or any other online platform. I have always wanted to shoot simple things that we see and by-pass everyday. I could never identify it. Now thanks to you, I can.
Thanks for your comment, Mila, and have fun!
Most amazing.. real eye opener.. thanks for sharing 🙏🏽.. look forward for more 😊❤️
Glad you enjoyed it!
So glad a friend of mine recommended this video; simply very enjoyable with some great ideas and suggestions.
Glad you enjoyed it!
