It's so bad ass to get guitar lessons from your guitar heros! Thanks Jim! I just bought a Gretsch and will be gobbling up all the lessons I can find on this style. Please keep the lessons coming.
Keep these coming. Also talk Jimbo into some bass lessons. I’ve picked up the upright bass and there just isn’t much for rockabilly available. I’d pay for it. Heck a Reverend Horton Heat guitar book would be great! Somebody get Mel Bay
There are actually some decent videos on CZcams. That’s how I learned upright slap bass. You can always DM Jimbo on Instagram, but I will tell you that he’s not the best at responding.
Hey Jim! Super long time. Hey, man, I really appreciate what you're doing here. Finger picking wasn't anything my right hand wanted anything to do with even after playing rockabilly and psychobilly for 30 freakin years. I got pretty good at flat pick faking it.....but you know how far you can really take it. What's crazy is, about 3 years ago I had the gnarlist full speed run and fall into my concrete garage floor while being chased by giant black wasps, cracked my skull, dislocated my shoulder, shattered my rotator cuff and snapped the top of the bone off. I'm sure the wasps found it hilarious as did the local sasquatch population, but after all the arm surgery, for some reason that crack to the skull rewired that squishy bit of my pompadour holder and all of a sudden, I just started throwing in fingers on the right like I had been doing it the whole damn time. 🤣 You teaching some proper style and form really goes a long way for me and I just wanna say, thanks, man. Just moved to Nashville last week and getting a "Johnny Love and Speed 9.0" version together now and catapulting outta retirement. Hope to see you fellas rockin live sooner than later. Cheers! 🤘😎
Damn its funny I've been banging my head against the wall trying to figure out this style of picking and this video comes up on my feed lol thanks Rev been a long time fan of yours and this is awesome thank you. Now to binge all your videos lol
Hey man! I've been waiting for another lesson! Thank you so much and for ALL the yrs of great times and music. We play free gigs at local club here in Tulsa in hopes the owner can get us on the bill when you roll through again. Thanks so much for the lessons. Let's keep this thing goin till the wheels fall off!
Congrats on hitting that 1k subs! Get after that CZcams adsense money, it will take a little bit to finally get that channel review and monetization approved but you are on the road to youtube greatness!! I am loving these lessons.
Thanks Jim this is awesome. I'm currently taking lessons with someone else and this is a great exercise to build on what I'm learning. Travis picking is frustrating, once I learn one pattern it's hard to change to another one.
Wowww!!! Exactly what I was looking for, looking forward to more lessons. I literally was just telling my wife, I need some beginning style lesson that isn’t exactly for beginners for this pickin thing.. more of a slowed down blues style of single note type of leads, or influenced by John Lee hooker and Black Sabbath haha.. so, I’ve just never been able to get this down on my own. Great exercise thank you so much for making these!!
What's goin on at the beginning of living on the edge of Houston? I thought it was a voice w effect on it but I saw you play the beginning so it's just guitar?

Jim.......monster alert yall. Love my fellow Texans!
Thank you, Jim... learning Randy Rhoads solos note for note never prepared me for rockabilly!
