The YP-38 was recently added to the game! The primary difference between this and the other P-38s is this was a pre-production model used for testing and it is armed with a 37mm Cannon as well as 2 .30cal and 2 .50cal machine guns. The 37mm stayed in the game very early in production but was ultimately changed out for the infamous 20mm the P-38 is known for.

Bo the mk 21 is an aussie beaufighter and we wanted heavier guns for strafing not to counter the nose drop

Sadly, the 'Whispering Death' moniker seems to be a postwar myth. Also the .50 cals were put in the Aussie Mk 21s as much because it was easier for us to source the .50 cals than the British .303 machine guns (because by that point in the war we were getting a lot of materiel from the US instead of the the UK).
I love how Bo is giving them, and us, an entertaining lecture about his favorite aircraft. Too be honest, I like learning some extra things from the TBLF crew. 😊

More beaufighter facts the Australian ones were DAP Beaufighter , and it was the sleeve arrangement that made then quieter than others especially at the front , the USAAF used them as well briefly as a night fighter until the p61 black widow

I've only recently switched to RB from AB, and I finally understand how Bo and the others are so good. If you control where the furball forms, who can beat you?
Previously on Storm Chasers...They got confused, had technical definition talks about the weather, got tired, turned around and rammed eachother.
I also recommend the P-39 N-O, it has two .50s, four .30s, and of course this same 37mil. Really fun, both air-to-air and air-to-ground.
Hearing you talk about the beaufighter made me really nostalgic for the podcasts
The Beaufighter was also flown by the USAAF as an interim night fighter, one is in the National Museum of the USAF.

5:55 wrong bo, the corsair was called whistling death, whispering death was the nickname canadians gave to the abrams during a wargames exercise because it was so quiet it could sneak up on enemy formations

Whispering death was also given to the Beaufighters as they were quiet for a twin engine.
Listen again Bo called the corsair whistling death, then he proceeded to call the beaufighter whispering death.

To be honest with only 15 rounds of 37mm and trying to use a cannon like that on an aircraft like the P-38... Its hard for me to recommend it. The 37mm for me at least didn't match my playstyle with this fighter.
