Ok...but why did I fucking tear up at the end!?! I unironically cried at "be as weird as you want to be". That really struck a chord. A very specific chord. Namely, a Bm on the back in of a minor plagal cadence. I think the bathroom part actually IS an accurate part, he recorded "Another One Rides The Bus" in the bathroom of his college (I think it was college...I know it was in a bathroom) :)

Basically giving props to other people and artists who weren't afraid of being silly. The song was prominently featured in the original animated Transformers movie around 86.

In case you are not picking up on this, this is a satire of self serving rock-star-biopics which either gloss over or completely ignore controversy. Since Weird Al's biggest controversy is not having express permission to parody one particular song and not getting married until he was forty, they are making it all up. Jokes are more funny when you have to explain them, right?
I'm just throwing this out here... I somehow think that maybe, just possibly, there's a teensy itty bitty amount of a tiny little bit of creative theory going on with the story. I mean, that whole bathroom recording session scene... c'mon, *really*?! We're supposed to believe that happened?! But man, if it's all true, what a ride you've had, Al Yankovic. What a ride indeed. Can't wait to see it!
@@JConnollystudio : Yeah, that's the joke. The comment was jokingly pointing out that the bathroom recording scene is one of the very few things in this trailer that is actually true. Al has talked about how he got a nice echo effect in the bathroom, so he would record in the bathroom doorway. This allowed him to step in and out and have echo only on the parts of the track he wanted.
Do you like Weird Al? I've been a big Yankovic fan ever since the release of his 1985 album, Dare to be Stupid. Before that, I really didn't understand any of his work. Too artsy, too intellectual. It was on Dare to be Stupid where Al's presence became more apparent. I think "Living with a Hernia" was his undisputed masterpiece. It's an epic meditation on intangibility. At the same time, it deepens and enriches the meaning of the preceding three albums. Christy, take off your robe. Listen to the brilliant ensemble playing of Bermuda, Jay, and Schwartz. You can practically hear every nuance of every instrument. Sabrina, remove your dress. In terms of lyrical craftsmanship, the sheer songwriting, this album hits a new peak of professionalism. Sabrina, why don't you, uh, dance a little. Take the lyrics to Foil. In this song, Weird Al addresses the problems of abusive political authority. One More Minute is the most moving Doo-wop of the 1980s, about monogamy and commitment. The song is extremely uplifting. Their lyrics are as positive and affirmative as anything I've heard in rock. Christy, get down on your knees so Sabrina can see your a**hole. Weird Al's solo career seems to be more commercial and therefore more satisfying, in a narrower way. Especially songs like Word Games and Amish Paradise. Sabrina, don't just stare at it, Eat It. But I also think Weird Al works best within the confines of the group, than as a solo artist, and I stress the word artist. This is "White and Nerdy", a great, great song, a personal favorite.
White and Nerdy is my favorite because you can replace "White" with "Asian" and few other words and it would still be pretty accurate. And its funny of course.
This is proof that I'll never have access to a time machine. For if I did, I would have taken a copy of this movie, gone back in time, and shown it to myself yesterday.

I can't believe we're finally getting a true biography including the well documented years of Al's trouble with drugs and alcohol addiction. He tried to have that scrubbed or power washed from the public consciousness but I'm glad he's ready to explore it with film, and a straight to streaming film(the highest quality film) at that
You're being sarcastic, surely?
@@thefirstchampster no I'm being completely serious...and don't call me Shirley.

Oxicleaned, even.
Ok...but why did I fucking tear up at the end!?! I unironically cried at "be as weird as you want to be". That really struck a chord. A very specific chord. Namely, a Bm on the back in of a minor plagal cadence.
Welp, now I gotta mask a genuine show of emotion with a less embarrassing, more destructive, less cathartic display of emotion and punch an anger hole in the wall while screaming "I HATE YOU DAD! YOU DID THE BEST YOU COULD!"

Can't wait for this. This world truly does not deserve Weird Al but I'm glad we have him.
Love that Al Yankovic cameo at 2:40 and also love the fact that this is so over the top NOT factual. I doubt Al has ever even held a cigarette in his hand, let alone put one out in someone's hand.
But the day/night mad sex with Madonna IS absolutely true.

Finally, an honest biopic about the man who taught us to Love Rocky Road and had one of his own. Also: Rainn Wilson as Dr. Demento is a genius stroke of casting, I expect there to be nominations at oscar time!
When I saw this I cried. I can't wait to see this... This guy is my hero. I grew up with his music and to this day I have a playlist I listen to often. This movie will save my life.
Humor is life saving! I'm sure you're not the only one
I'm going to watch the whole film eleven times and then model my life after it.
Who could parody their own biopic this well? And Daniel really hit it out of the park with this one. Also I love all those original songs you wrote that everyone else copies! Every last one! 🙃
Love the fact that this is using a lot of cliches from biopics to bring to his story like a Biopic Parody which is fitting. Daniel looks awesome and Evan looks spot on as well. This looks Weird And Fun. Can't wait for this and wish it was going to theaters.
Definitely going to watch this lol. I genuinely like your versions of the songs you parody better than the originals

This movie is beautiful! Love it. Smiling ear to ear right now. Ever since seeing the skit on Funny or Die I've been wishing for this movie to be made. FANTASTIC. Love that Radcliff is playing Al.
Visited the states for the summer of 99. My cousin got me 'Running With Scissors', played that album over and over all summer. Albuquerque was the shit haha.
I love how Weird Al is starring this movie... But someone else is starring as Weird Al!
#meta
I don't think that music exec guy will be in the entire movie, so Weird Al probably isn't starring in it... It's still really funny that he's there though

Just when I think Al couldn't possibly be any weirder, he totally reimagines himself.
I'm so happy this is going to be on the Roku Channel, as that's one of the few free channels available on the device that's actually works and isn't completely infested with ads.

As I am led by the Holy Spirit, nothing I state is a lie, but the truth of God. Anyone who tells you differently is misinformed or a liar. They do not know God, nor led by him.
Anyone who *claims* to be a Christian and is against what I am doing, for any reason; the Holy Spirit does not dwell within them. They know not God, read his word, and their religion is in vain. Do not hear them, they will mislead you, the lost cannot guide the lost.

I absolutely love the stock "string rise" on my bologna at 0:38
Hi 👋🏽 biggest Weird Al fan in the world here. I wondered how they were going to inject drama into the life story of such a great guy. The fact that he went full Dewy Cox on this makes so much sense and is so amazing. Take my money.
This is amazingly accurate!
His mom saying "Your dad and I agreed it would be best if you just stop being who you are and doing the things you love."
Wandering the jungle where he was probably attacked by a velociraptor at 1:59
His early gigs playing sold out bathrooms at 2:20
I think the bathroom part actually IS an accurate part, he recorded "Another One Rides The Bus" in the bathroom of his college (I think it was college...I know it was in a bathroom) :)

@@CalebDenn Of course the Amish forgave him after his heartfelt apology. When he told them "I know I'm a million times as humble as thou art" it brought tears to my eyes.
Thank you for the replies Allison and Silicon. I knew Weird Al was a DJ who sent his tapes to Dr Demento, but I had no idea that he actually recorded My Bologna in a university bathroom because he thought the acoustics were perfect.
I just assumed he picked a ridiculous place for the biopic and didn't choose the moon because it was too far fetched.
I’m happy to have a release date for this. Radcliffe looks like the right choice for the role!
That guy's in some weird movies himself, these days. It only makes sense!!
A part of me wants it to be part of the joke that he only filmed scenes for a parody trailer, but the rest of me thinks Radcliffe is actually an amazing choice

An original song, done in the style of Devo. Basically giving props to other people and artists who weren't afraid of being silly.
The song was prominently featured in the original animated Transformers movie around 86.

I hope this biopic won't shy away from finally explaining the *TRUTH* behind Al's infamous mustache malfunction during the Super Bowl Halftime Show.
So weird Al who parodies popular songs is making a parody of a biopic that is a parody of his own life… this is the best idea I’ve ever heard!

Just finished watching it and it was absolutely awesome! I loved it! Loved the cameos! It was obvious it was fun to do and it was a love letter to your career.
A parody biopic about a parody artist 🤣 genius! This is going to be funny
This is 100% accurate. Wait til you find out that Billie Eilish is secretly Al and Madonna's love child.
Oops, spoilers
The bathroom thing is real, back in the day, it was the cheep man sound room for making demo's. Lot of artists did this
@@JConnollystudio : Yeah, that's the joke.
I love Daniel Radcliffe, he’s so good at every role he has. No exception here based on this trailer.
Well, this is certainly a take on American Psycho
This is proof that I'll never have access to a time machine. For if I did, I would have taken a copy of this movie, gone back in time, and shown it to myself yesterday.
