This was made to a 2007 movie Lieksa! and Floor Jansen was not part of the band , her part was written in later .
Movie is a drama comedy set to 1970 , you can see Tuomas and Marco walking between the actors in movie scenes in the official Nightwish video .

I love how versatile Nightwish is, thrash here, sweet ballad there, a rousing instrumental, all whenever they want to.
It's a sign of world class musicians on every instrument. They don't play what they can, but what they want.

Congratulations on engagement. That is a very beautiful and true song. The vocals between Marko and Floor are just exquisite. His voice is so great and he really knows “how” to sing.
The official list of instruments that Troy plays is longer then most peoples CVs over a lifetime. The unofficial list? One can only imagine......so comment jokes like the one you spotted is allways comedy gold! Troy is a wizard! What he alone adds to this song is so good i dont have words for it. Marcos voice is just as brilliant for this song. And Floor shows that her backing vocal skills are second to no man or woman too.
It's so long that he always takes in at least 2 lines in the credits of any fully recorded concert. lol Then again, he's a Gemini. Gotta use more than one line to give enough credit to "both of him". ;)
This is my personal favorite song featuring Marko. Especially this particular live version with Troy using the e-bow to implement that otherworldly effect.

People always recommend "The Islander" or "High Hopes" as a showcase for Marko's vocals, but I think this is his best performance.
Congratulations, this was composed for the Finnish film Lieksa, by Tuomas and Marco in 2007 and included on the single Amaranth, the original video for the song includes clips from the film.
It was not on DPP, it was second song in some "Single" right before DPP.

I am crying. I knew that would happen when I saw the title.
It's a beautiful song but takes me back to 2014 when my wife of some 30 years and a Floor like statuesque person of similar height had the worst stroke ever without warning and died here in minutes at 54, 14 years my junior, just two years into the early retirement that we had both worked so hard for and in a different country too. No chance to Kiss while your lips are still Red, so the message is quite plain, you never know.

Originally violins were in the this song and since they got Troy on board They can experiment with many fun stuff live like the e-bow.
That's also why Troy plays it and not Emppu. It is not an official guitar part.
Troy is just insanely talented and versatile.

Always expect the unexpected from them. Troy sometimes uses the E-bow in Greatest Show on Earth instead of his illeuan pipes in the start.
As the others suggest, please try the two acoustic versions from Troy and Floor's promotion tour in spring - Planet Rock Radio - How is the Heart and Nemo. This is higest quality of music - as Troy puts it "when Floor starts her Stratospheric voice" - in this case - spot on. And with your background, you will know the difficult techniques Floor uses.

This song was actually written for a Finnish movie called "Lieksa" in English "The Matriarch". Just a fun little tidbit in case no one has mentioned it before. And congratulations 6 months late. Been on a Nightwish reaction binge the last month :)
The part where Troy plays the E-bow was originally played by strings so I'm guessing that's why the use of the E-bow to make it mimic the string sound.

You noticed the ebow right away, good work! It's used in "Devil and the deep dark ocean, live Buenos Aires" too. Not sure if it's being used in other Nightwish songs.

To my knowledge, E-Bow is used in: this song + Greatest Show on Earth (Wembley, Buenos Aires etc); Nemo; Sahara; Devil; Deep Silent Complete; The Siren...then on the new album you can hear it in Music; Shoemaker and Procession (maybe also in Pan and Endlessness but not too sure - if so, it's low in the mix). I think that's all of them so far...? Might have missed one or two!

Emppu has updated some of his guitar parts since the studio versions, like the solo for Romanticide, so i'm hoping to see more of that in the future. It'd be great to see him integrate something new into this song down the line, for example. There are some new opportunities there for working out new things in combination with Troy's contributions. i mean, unless he particularly wants to sit this song out, i dunno. He just seems an under-utilized resource as the Nightwish sound evolves.

This was a great one! You have plenty of suggestions for NW so I'll offer an alternative to get a closer look on one of Floor's abilities you've heard before. Troy is not the lead guitarist - Emppu is. Troy plays an assortment of instruments. Him playing here is the exception.
if troy used sustaniac pickups he would not need that ebow. my schecter has that pickup
I think the E-Bow has such a nice sound though, and it brings something different to that band. :) It works so well in tunes like Sahara and Shoemaker with that mystical wailing effect!
Another different song of theirs, is Slow love slow.
It's jazz... The album version is the best there is for that one.
