AWESOME Card Shuffler Restoration - Is It Magic?

- In this video I restore an old manual playing card shuffler.
SPECIAL thanks to Chris Ramsay for making an awesome deck of cards and giving me permission to use them in my video!
This restoration was pretty straight forward. After disassembly I needed to sandblast the larger parts. Once sandblasting was complete I powder coated the parts with green and silver which were the original colors.
The wooden bits I sanded down and gave them a nice finish with danish oil.
With every project I strive to add a creative touch. I decided to gold plate the bolt heads and other hardware and I thought this would look great with the green, let me know what you think!
Did you see the sneak peek of my next restoration???

I would say your next project may be the rusty pistol in the drawer???
May be a flare gun?
im so glad when i see someones not using fake rust and dirt to make it look like its gonna be harder for them to restore then it really is so i applaud you sir
Love the plug of Chris Ramsay's cards
Had one of those on the table or a cabin I rented. Did not shuffle well.i cleaned the rubber rollers and spun on a thin layer of silicone rubber sealant. When it cured the next day. I showed it to the cabin owner. She called her friends. They taught me how to play spite and malice. What a great summer that was.
Job well done👌
Oh My Goodness! I WANT this!
I liked the little owl! 🇧🇷
Very good invention
Great intro! I saw the "1st" cards and the theatrical videography and had to double-check what channel I was watching. :)
Thanks!
Bro that royal flush lighter is cool!
The vertical "lathe" trick! Genius! 🎂
Гарне відновлення, та гумор файний присутній 👍🏼
Found you on Facebook and I can honestly say you made a fan out of me.
I didn't even know there was such a thing as a card shuffler machine. Great job of restoration. The Olive Green reminded me of my days in the Air Force before the camo fatigues.
Green is my favorite color! ❇️
Are you stuck in the middle age James? Right, in middle age there were no casinos. 😂
@@pofrof4910 they had servants to do it lol
Another nice restauration from your hand. Thanks for showing this to us ❤️
It’s my pleasure!!
Your cinematography is as impressive as your restoration work!
Nice job restoring the card shuffler to working order. It looks much better, too. Great work.
That looked like a bit of Florida weather
It sure was ☀️😊
Good afternoon from Southeast South Dakota
Hi Slim! Good afternoon!
Awesome resto on a very unique machine!!
That was cool. Great job
great video .
Great work....congratulation
Awesome
Great restoration and beautiful editing! I love your intros, thanks for sharing! 🙏🏼
Thanks Dr Hut I really enjoy making the intros even though I’m sure some people don’t like them 🙃
This was fun to watch! I have the same shuffler in original mint condition. I found it at an antique store.
Very good video. Fascinating to watch.
Great job!
Thanks DC!
Beautiful job my friend!
GOOD JOB WELL DONE
Excellent, great job!!!
lol, thats a neat little job.
That was totally spiffy. Thanks.
Very cool, well done. 👍
3:45 ha ha great noise 😂
AWESOME Card Shuffler Restoration
My grandparents had an electric card shuffler. I always thought it was the neatest thing
Great restoration
👍😍
Looks excellent and you did a wonderful job restoring it as well!!
Enjoyed your video and I gave it a Thumbs Up
Great video J- Your camera work and editing never ceases to amaze 😉👍
Thanks 😊
Brilliant job 👍 well done
Thanks mate!
I need one of those. Cards go flying when I try to shuffle them!
I never thought it’s a machine for doing that 😂 nice work 👌
Thank you my friend! 😊
Wonderful project. Great intro. Very well executed restoration. Interesting techniques used. Highly professional edit and a funny outlook on a new project in the drawer (I have a similar project lining up).
My friend this one was really nice to watch again
Thank you Dr. Beer! Cheers 🍻
I need that lighter
I would have soaked the rubber rollers in silicone oil before reassembling. The screw heads could have used some sanding before polishing also to remove the heavy scratches. Not a bad restoration job.
Excelente
Thank you! 😁
that's a nice restration what's the different between bluing and heat iron
Some additional info, These were made in the 1950s, and the company was better known for ice skates.
I’m sure Chris Ramsey will love that you reped his cards lol. You should show him this, he would probably want it.
I asked him for permission 😉
@@DrRestoration oh I wasn’t saying anything bad. I’m saying he would like that you did it. Still think he would like the shuffler.
@@NavyVeteran1776 I shared the video with him :)
My mother had one of these and we used it up until the week she died last month. This is great for people who’s hands are too stiff to shuffle.
Where can I find that poker themed lighter? Great restoration. Loved the trick of using rivets to hold the handle for sanding. Will definitely be using that
Amazon!
I would like to know how you got the pop rivets out of the wooden knobs? Good job on the restore.
I was able to just pull on them while twisting, they were pretty loose
What was the brown liquid the heated parts got dropped into?
Awesome restoration! The gold plating on the screw heads was such a classy touch! Really impressive job here. I play cards a good deal but I'm rubbish at shuffling, I'd love to have an old school card shuffeler like this.
Are those Chris Ramsey 1st playing cards??
They are his cards! 🙂
Any reason why you chose to sand the plastic gear wheel, instead of using a retrobright approach using hydrogen peroxide to restore the colour? Would have thought that would have achieved a better and cleaner look, especially for in-between the gear teeth.
It had a pretty deep scuff that needed sanding
I used to play with the one we had when I was a kid. Unfortunately I played with it so much that I wore down the plastic gears inside and it no longer shuffles. (It’s a Johnson like that one but not quite as old.)
👍👍👍👍👍
Beautifully done. I bet Chris Ramsey would buy it from you!
I was wondering how you cleaned the screws and pins. Did you use electrolysis, or just a wire wheel and polish?
Wire wheel and polish 👍
How do you make color choices on restorations?
Most times I try to go with as close to the original color as possible, but sometimes I pic whatever I think will look good. 🙂
For dingy white plastic, use uv light and hydrogen peroxide bath 👌
Yeah I’m familiar, but I feel it would take away from its charm 😁
Got a question did you primer that before you painted it I didn't see your primer it
no he didn't. No one uses primer on powder coating
@@privatename7797 Ok did not know that thanks
🥰😎🥰
Where can I get some of those cool graduated beer glasses?
Really enjoyed the hot blueing. Very satisfying!
Why does your drill press sound like it has a bearing loose?
🤷🏻♂️
Машинка для чесания колоды из киоска
That poor drill press needs new bearings.
Hey those are Chris Ramsay's brand of playing card. 1st. That's awesome
The flux capacitor was obviously damaged and should have been replaced.
For a moment I though I was on chris ramsey's channel 😂😂
Haha he’s a huge inspiration 😊
@@DrRestoration i love his content too ☺️
And I really like your video, I'll surely watch more ☺️☺️
DO FLARE GUN PLEASE
Does the powder coat come in a hammered paint finish?
Do we want to know about the rusty flare gun???
🤔
@@DrRestoration the one in the drawer
@@SimonUdd will be my next project 😏
Video starts and I had to double check, did I accidentally click on a Chris Ramsey video? Haha, nice cameo, for those who know!
The doctor is in in. The doctor is in out.
I've got an original never used in its original box just like this
Very cool!
I should mention that hammer tone finish paint was lead based
I shall be better and get some lead testing kits 👍
5:50 forbidden kratom
sandblasting without any lead test? environment thanks you for disposals..
I shall be better and get some lead testing kits 👍
@@DrRestoration just because lead in water drain is a killing chemical!!
came here after watching a r/whatisthisthing vid lol
You doesn't has to call it Johnson!
Everyday I'm shuffling
That pillar drill dont sound healthy =/
Very good restoration, however for me some of the sounds were a bit squeaky and unpleasant like the rusted screws and the sandblaster. Realise this is a personal preference and not to do with the skill of your work
yea for card games etc their either battery or electrical.
Please don't turn that handle. At least put up a sound-warning. ;) For the rubber, use oil/atf, it will rejuvinate the rubber much bettter.
Gotta keep you on your toes 😜
@@DrRestoration Well, my toes curled, and I even have catched cold from the shivers down my spine. ;)

Isn’t it funny how sandblasting is so boring to watch. Even for just a few seconds.
I think most people find it satisfying
interesting object, magician doctor, a wonderful restoration and my favorite green color. What else to expect from a video? thanks, it was great. 👍🏻⭐️🪚🛠⚙️
