    A good thought process I've embraced is to "own your emotions" which I had heard many decades ago. When you don't lay the blame for these on others you can begin to see it is you who is generating the distress by your perception.

    There are different sorts and degrees of feeling safe. Physical, emotional etc. I might not feel physically in danger but I feel like I have to substantially adapt who I am and feel unseen and unheard. That can feel very unsafe. I think that can cause pd symptoms. I accept it and look to work towards developing relationships where I do feel seen and heard.

    Dan, this is exactly the message I needed to hear today. Life has been highly stressful for me the past couple of weeks, I have been feeling very worn down and stressed out, and now a beloved pet is dying before my eyes and I can't afford the vet bills. I felt some symptoms returning last night and I was worried that I was going to have a serious relapse. You have encouraged me this morning that I can go through stressful times and still be okay. God bless you.

    Thank you, Dan! Great explanation of how the brain creates symptoms when it perceives danger that doesn’t exist. I appreciate your encouragement to talk to the brain and the example you gave.
    I notice that flare ups are still happening every other day without feeling stressed. I respond more calmly and carry on with my plans for the day. Symptoms have been lowering on those days and I thank my brain.

    This is one of the best Dan. One thing. My biggest stress is symptoms I don’t understand. My brain wants Chapter and verse and a new pain. That’s the health anxiety crap. Oh sure I check everything out with dr. But along comes another. Hmm. What’s this. I think it’s new 😮. So I need instant reassurance. Of course can’t get that.
    So stress. I’m aware what I’m doing. But uncertainty. Fear. Anxiety. Thats my stress.
    Congrats on your achievement Dan. Amazing. Thank you and well done 👍🏻

    Congratulations on 1700 videos! In your 1700 videos have you covered how to move out of a state of avoidance in a way that does not shock the nervous system into even more fear when it starts to or tries to encounter things, situations or people who have previously been avoided in an attempt to eliminate stress triggers? I went to a yoga class 3 weeks ago intended for anxiety and stress. The room full of people triggered off my fear and that brought on tension and then pain that stayed there all day. I could not go back last week because I feared the onslaught of fear, tension and then pain. I appreciate that this is the type of avoidance that does not help my fear. But how to approach it in a way that it does not shock my nervous system in a ‘what the heck are you doing?!’ perceived danger response.

    Hi Dan,
    I followed another TMS training. They taught me that some patterns like insecurity, perfectionism, wanting to control everything which lay under the stress are the problem. They make the brain feel unsafe. I need to reframe those patterns. For example I get insecure by something my boss tells me. Then I need to allow those emotions and subsequently reframe insecurity by visualizing myself in a confident, chilled self.
    Now you tell us that stress is not the problem. But arent the patterns underneath? (Except for when for example you cry when your dog just died because there is no pattern going on…)

    Dan, have been watching your vids now for quite some time now. Have been having leg and back pain symptoms for 7 years now. Could never figure out where it came from. Now I do understand. Have been taking meds to control the pain for years. Tried to go without meds for short periods, but could not function at work or home without it. Extremely painful. Have never heard you talking about meds and PDP. Can it help the body to get better from PDP symtoms or should one just push through without meds? I would not be able to due to my work situation though. I am sixty years old and have to work. No retirement for me in the near future either. I live in South Africa.

      Hi Zelda, another Saffa here!! 🇿🇦 Dan has done a video on TMS & meds……you can do a search for it. Basically what he was saying is use the meds if you feel you need to, but know that they are not going to bring about the healing. Hope that helps!

    • @zeldamelaniescholtz9853
      @zeldamelaniescholtz9853 Před 8 měsíci

      Thanks. I do realize that it will not help, because I have used meds for 7 years and still have pain. My question is how to heal from PDP if your pain is numbed by meds as you feel quite normal while using it. I so badly do not want to be on pain meds anymore. It's not healthy at all.

    • @1STBUCKLEY
      @1STBUCKLEY Před 8 měsíci

      @@zeldamelaniescholtz9853not sure what meds u on and if safe to come off them quickly. If self medicating I'd reduce dosage slowly. If I need pain relief I take a quarter of a pill, paracetamol lol almost a placebo 🤔. Once you believe it's TMS it's amazing how quickly you can turn it down/off. I'm still a work in progress.
