    I owned an 848. They are good balers. Mine had problems when baling tall fescue in the spring when super dry and slick. The core would form and stop turning while the chains continued to turn creating a plug. My solution was to add grip tape , like on a skate board, between the flat bars on the floor roller. That helped. The controller was nothing more than a box with a light and buzzer for full bale alarm and a toggle switch for extending the net , then bump to middle position on indicator on baler, then to cut position . If net starts wrapping on rubber roller, apply baby powder after removing net. There should be cylinder locks on the cylinders that open the tailgate when working inside with tailgate up. Beware the long knife while threading net, if it's extended, you may cut fingers. Hope this comment is of help. If you want to talk I'll try to get you my number.

    Those are special bolts. They are grade 5 carriage bolts. The unique dimension is the land portion.(part of the bolt not threaded) You should use a clenched style locking nut on them. The wear on the thread is normal. The bars should be snug not loose but not supper tight as it allows the chain to track on the idlers as the dimensions change slightly. NH went to this 1 bolt design to help with stress on the chain link pins as the chain needs to follow the idlers. Hope this is helpful. Good Luck.👍👍

    Can't wait to see it running and a bale it made and wrapped. I'm excited for you!. That baler should make a bale that will store well out side. A major advancement from the old 846. You made a good move
    trading for it. I'm SHOCKED you found a NH chain baler that net wraps. Nice work!!!👍

    New Holland manufactures fantastically well-thought-out balers.
    They even have a built-in ladder.

    Chain baler... doesnt bring back fond memories. I run a BR7060SS now baling around 3000 rolls a year. Got 16000 on it now with very few problems outside routine maintenance.
    My family use to be a NH dealer. When they got out in ‘89 there was a pickup truck full of those 4’ bars. Nobody wanted them then so we ended up using them as fence brace stobs. There is no telling how many i drove in the ground with a sledge hammer.

    Hey whats the price difference between net and twine

    • @rogercarrico4975
      @rogercarrico4975 Před 3 lety +3

      Most folks use plastic twine. On their twine only bales. Wrap a bale a minimum amount. I'm guessing they get by way less than a dollar a bale. I use sisal twine. It will rot. Where you feed it. Where that plastic suff will be there forever, I guess. Sisal twine has really gotten expensive lately. $56 per 2 rolll bundle of 16,000 ft. For the last I purchased. Using 18 wraps per bale. I get around 42-43 bales per 16,000 ft bundle. Comes out to around $1.30 a bale. I believe the net wrap ( depending on the number of wraps you put per bale, generally 2-4) runs around $2:50 - $3 per bale. However, the saving in hay that the net wrap saves vs twine only bales. Is quite a bit! Some estimates are 30% !. Fortunately, I can store most of my bales inside. What must sit out. Is the last I baled for the season. Then this is then fed first. So you might think about that if you are weighting what baler to purchase 👍

      @@rogercarrico4975 All true and good summation! The main attraction for netwrap balers is the shortened wrapping/ejecting cycle time when the baler is stopped to finish one bale before starting another. Wrapping thoroughly with twine can easily take 15-20 revolutions of the baler to wrap twine all the way around all the way across, where a netwrap baler typically only has to turn the bale about 2-3 times, cut the net, and then eject the bale, which can save a lot of time for big operators over thousands of bales... time is fuel and time is money! SO you have to offset that against the higher price of net. Course, if you're baling that many bales, a person would already know that and weighed the options. For the little guy, twine is still a smarter way to go.... usually. OL J R :)
