- This video was aired on the Far East Network,(FEN) Phillipines.Taken at various locations and times around
Clark Air Base, and Bagio. The video was made to show how the men and woman of the US armed forces help in time of need.
This video is the reason why the U.S. Armed forces should not have gotten evicted from their their military bases from the Philippines. We not only provided jobs but also basic amenities to the surrounding communities. I just wish that there would still be that kind of American presence in the Philippines.
Clark was my first base out of Security Police Tech School in 1970. Lots of fond memories and many friends.
phillipines is an awesome country love and miss
I was at Clark in 70-71. I was in the 1961st Communications Group. Good tour of duty.
Bring back all the good times living around Clark Air Base
Great video! I specially like how you timed each footage to sync with the music, it added more impact on the whole presentation. Thanks to all the great men and women who continue to serve unselfishly.
Hi Rusty,
my name is Eric Nau...i was a Weather Specialist at Clark from 1989-1991...i worked with TSGT Dale Honhart who did the weather on FEN.....great video!!
The Eric Nau? I remember you my fond friend from our time together at Keesler Field after the closure of Clark AB RP in 1991. I still remember you talking about the old Philadelphia Eagles Football Coach, "Rich Kotite" in our many daily communications at the DFACs at Keesler Field MS back in 1992 or 1993. It's strange how these videos look to me because this was my first home in the Air Force. My name is MSgt David Roy. Yeah, I got promoted and even went to Iraq at Camp Victory in 2005. The Philippines and Iraq, i think about almost daily. I believe this video may have been made in May 1990 after the earthquake hit Baguio City RP?Baguio city is my favorite city in the Philippines. The weather there is so different than the rest of the Philippines (besides that one area south of Manila). I worked in the 3MSSQ at Clark AB RP. You know the building right behind the Burger King there on base? I miss eating some of my lunches at the NCO club. The noon time lunches there was a once in a lifetime experience in the Air Force. That's all I will say about that. :) You had to experience it to understand it.
I got to see my old jet, thanks for posting this.
awesome song! you gotta' love 80's music
I always missed the P.I. This is were my son born. I well come visit the CLARK AIR FORCE BASE. Missed it so much. 1987to1989.
I now live and work in Clark. There are now more Filipinos working in Clark than there were during the Americans' time. I'm not saying the community surrounding Clark did not benefit from their presence - of course they did. Clark, in my opinion, should stand as a testament to the Filipinos' courage and determination to gather himself up from a disaster and head on towards building a better life for himself.
I have organized a Clark Air Base Homecoming and Wagner High School Class of 1991 Reunion scheduled for July of 2011. This will be a reunion to celebrate 20 after Pinatubo for all Clark Air Base personnel, families, and Wagner High School. Please contact me if you're interested. Thanks!
hahaha I love Clark, it's where my uncle lives. And we pass there everytime we travel from bagui city to Manila.
yes, there are tricare insuranse here in clark, i know it because my sister's husbund is an U.S soldier, he is in iraq now..
great!💖
brought back memories. 3rd crs ins, inst, wcs shop
Thanks for this. Police Intell/Reconn from 8/68 to 1/70.
i am working here at CAB... i 'm so glad that this base is like that 20 yrs ago... but sad to think that this base can't even improve its true power since this base is not Clark Air Base anymore.. its Center of All Bussiness..
Amen!
yes
@PIEVAC I was there. I worked for 13th AF, so we went down to Subic 3 days before the initial eruption, processed all of the americans in, and stayed until the bitter end.
There are about 5,000 American citizens still living near the Clark area. Most of them have families with young kids. There's an SM Mall inside and a Robinson's nearby. Ayala is building another one around 10 mins away. Where are you from?
Wait we had F4 Phantoms back then? Nice!👌🏼
Check tricare's website. They list all available treatment facilities there.
if i remember, it was due to money. they wanted alot and the lease was about to run out. then the volcano blew and that sealed the fate of the bases. i was stationed there when marcos left. had aot of good memories. 84-89 3rd crs
Yap, with the American Presence, it would have prevented that conflict. Too bad, the legislature that was run by Joseph Estrada wanted the American Presence out, he did not realize how much of a help we were to the people of Philippines. I just wish that could still have U.S. Military bases in the Philippines.
GI balikbayan! We miss you too!
what is the song
Hey thanks for serving in the cause for freedom. The economy is growing at 7.3% annually. There are several sports bars, some local-run, some run by retirees. US soldiers conduct exercises here about 3-4x a year. There is a VFW Post and 2 American Legion Posts. Lots of retirees cause they get more bang for the buck.
Were there actually some British/Australian aircrafts based in Clark Airbase when it was still a US base?
Stationed here 78-80 LE K-9 3rd SPS RP D- Flt
I was at Clark when the Earthquake hit, the Protests ran, and the Volcano destroyed it.....it was time to leave what we can not rebuild....
do you work there? what are the names of the bars? I am interested in checking it out. I plan to come around Decmber. I am a reservist but have done two tours in IRaq. I dont get a retirement check but I will have my twenty year letter in 09. want to find out the secrets of the area.
song name?
i agree.. US base sana mag balik na soon..
just think of it...clark air base is as big(or more) as Singapore....

USA comeback to philippines...
Hawaii. I am in IRaq rightnow but would like to live IN PI. how is the economy? is there any sports bars? do you see any american military around?
I was there in 1982 to 1985 the place is simply gorgeous when the Americans were there. They should have kept the Americans there. It is ashamed what they have done to that place now. That woman president that took over in 1986 doesn't know how to govern. She put the country down the drain.
and korea has Osan? why not Clark..damn..P noy should allow to Re open the Base !
tell memore about clark are there much americans left? IO hwear there is a mall nearby
Yeah I work in the area. Drop me an email so I can respond to you appropriately and in confidence.
Wagner High School class of 1987 :)
If we could only go back.
@joerayy yes us will comeback this 2011 the presedent is trying to bring back american forces at palawan
. . . bases in the Philippines. Oops my mistake.
...the filipino people really from the bottom of their hearts want the uncle sam's base here! but anyway we always be with uncle sam!
Clark ruled! The rest of my air force career sucked. There was just no comparison. Screw Joseph Estrada. The U.S. doesn't have the money to reopen Clark or Subic. The P.I. doesn't have any money to share the costs like other countries. It's not gonna happen over the Spratly islands but we can dream can't we
@scalaberch69 Cory Aquino's Administration but the whole legislative branch at the time was spear headed by Estrada "Erupt"
It was the BIGGEST mistake the Philippines wanted the US to leave.
@joerayy
sir, that would be Cory Aquino's legislature...
(continuation):
don't waste this opportunity to learn to be self-reliant in our native resources. be like japan . the reason why they became a successful country is their desire to study and learn the successful techniques the other countries had back then......
if you ask me, the time when the american bases were still in the philippine soil, for me, is a time wasted, if we look at the side of our own sovereignity. because we act just like what we act back then, reliance to other countries because we can't afford to believe in our power. now, i can't say any disagreement relating to the revival of american military presence in our country. but the only thing that i will say to all of my fellow filipinos is this: don't waste this opportunity again....
watch goodbye america
@joerayy Hey if clark air base was still around today maybe you guys could lend a few F22s to us Filipinos. :D
clark and subic base helped in the vietnam war, now that U.S is gone. china's challenging S.E.a
DATI PAYAN?? ung mga F-18 O nandito parin yan?
@dacarfreak2000 Sorry dude. I just wish that those bases were permanent. In fact the whole Philippine Islands should have been part of the U.S. But NO because the Philippine Government is so corrupt. If that would have happen, there won't be any OFWs because everybody will either have a job or receive unemployment benefits, depending on the situation.
Its good to see modern aircrafts in clark when the americans are still there, but now you'll see nothing but old S-211s and piece of crap, display only, scraped F-5s and F-8s...
and when the usa left the base the Chinese moved in island by island silly Philippines.
simsons doe!
@scobby47231 Mag babalika na!
GI Joe come back :)........
