    • @AlexanderTheEvenGreater
      @AlexanderTheEvenGreater Před 6 měsíci

      What has ecology got to do with whether or not "trophy yuk" (as you call it) is displayed in peoples' houses? What happens to the dead animals doesn't matter. What does matter is that hunters are willing to contribute tens, often hundreds of thousands of pounds to the vital conservation of these threatened species, at the expense of just one individual animal which has likely bred and passed on its genes anyway. Often these are older males, which have bred and are ageing and struggling to survive. This can lead to animals such as lions becoming man-eaters. It doesn't happen all the time, but it's more common than you think.

    Controlled hunting helps regulate animal populations, preventing overpopulation which can lead to habitat destruction and ecosystem imbalance. By carefully managing hunting quotas and enforcing regulations, conservation efforts can ensure the sustainability of wildlife populations while generating revenue for habitat protection and anti-poaching measures. Additionally, controlled hunting can incentivize local communities to participate in conservation efforts, providing economic benefits and promoting stewardship of natural resources.

    I'm a South African farmer which diversifies to make a living. Irrigation, conservation and hunting allows me to provide for my family and 22 families of my workstaff. Hunting is the ONLY proven conservation model that works and it goes hand in hand with conservation. I'm not going to explain why, as most anti hunters are not on ground zero and can't even phathom or understand how conservation works. I don't get pleasure from hunting l, but it is vital for animal species' survival. Hunting is here to stay, start excepting that fact, even if don't agree with it.

    • @AlexanderTheEvenGreater
      @AlexanderTheEvenGreater Před 6 měsíci

      Spot on! Most people who don't even attempt to understand ecology think individual animals are more important than an entire species. And I am sure they would still blame the trophy hunters if these species went extinct, rather than the poachers. ;-)

    Pierce, you have my Heart

  • @bigcityjunglecatenvisageth1422

    Trophy hunters are very "sick/toxic" individuals. All of those beautiful animals and wildlife are living beings with "feelings". And yet we have so many people trying to "justify" killing/murdering them in cold blood, just for "fun" and putting a trophy on their wall. They are actually trying to "convince" people that it's a "good" thing and that it "helps" those animals. But it would actually be much better for the animals if humans just left them alone to live their lives and raise their young in "peace". Those type of monsters like the guy here on the far left are just evil and twisted, and a waste of space and oxygen on this Earth (it shows on his face). And his bull's-crap is fooling no-one who has any morals, decency or compassion for the lives of animals. Anyone with even one iota of common sense would know that "killing/murdering" those animals, for the sake of "fun", is not "helping" them, in any way, shape or form. If an animal or anyone is "killed" then their life is taken and they are "dead" - not "helped". I rest my case.

    When Cecil the lion was shot the backlash shut down numerous hunting operations.
    Hurrah you say.
    The consequence of the loss of hunting operations was disasterous for the area and its wildlife.
    When professional hunting operations withdraw so does animal protection in that area.
    Trophy hunting is a term coined in the USA and was introduced as part of an act which sought to restrict hunting to male animals that were at the end of their lives from a breeding standpoint. Removing a long term dominant Alpha who in many cases isn't even interested in breeding any more introduces new DNA into the eco system.
    So back to removing professional hunting outfits charging $100,000 to shoot a lion earmarked for removal anyway. Well that $100k was paying for people to stop ivory poachers, hide hunters and professional poachers shipping to Asia.
    Now the game reserve boundary isnt managed the local farmers who were paid as trackers by the sanctioned outfits go back to clear cutting and meat hunting, this time unchecked.

      @remoosecode7558 the algorithm removes links and I don't generally like providing people with homework, but I'm happy to talk about the subject. I'll refer tonthe successful US model of conservation as it's considered the benchmark.
      If you're genuinely interested in the subject you couldn't go past the film
      Stars in the Sky: A Hunting Story.
      The documentary in question looks at the post market hunting era in the USA and the efforts of conservationists to reinstate species almost driven to extinction.
      The period known as market hunting was the unregulated era of American history where anything with a pulse was considered fair game.
      The biggest issue for animals is always habitat loss, hence why hunters are often called conservationists in the US.
      You can easily look into the Teddy Roosevelt story and midnight forests or the self imposed 13% tax on all guns, ammunition, hunting tags etc that funds the Pittman Roberts act which pays for conservation in the US, to the tune of Billions.
      Moving on. Cecil.
      This lion was earmarked and the hunter paid 60K to shoot Cecil.
      In popular tourist spots a lion can generate an estimated 200,000K in tourist revenue. This works well in easily accessible areas with hotels nearby and safe airports and modern unfrastructure. Animals in these areas are still culled off, but this is done by professional hunters.
      Moving out to remote areas there's no incentive to protect habitat, everything has to justify its existence financially. Wood and animals have value, land has value. It's that simple.
