    Usually the variable valve solenoid gets full of metal shavings sometimes you can just clean it out and it’s fine

    Hi doing a 2009 207 no marks on the camshafts at all so just get the pin into the flywheel. This car was parked up for 5 minutes then failed to start again this was about 9 months ago did a compression test about 80 psi so bought a kit to check if the cam timing has moved

    Could fault codes P1007 and P1014 on Peugeot 207, 2007 require this. It apparently refers to variable valve lifter sensor something.

    Hi, well I've fitted a new chain kit the whole lot except the Vanos pulleys, timed up and running alot better but still codes p0014 and P11A8 (both exhust cam codes) I've changed the solenoids,. And re-checked timing after a good run - it's on. I'm stumped now. Any ideas? Was thinking vanos pulley and the cam oil seals behind it. Other than that what else is there? Thanks.

    Hi,I have a huge problem and no one cant find what is the matter..I have P0016 and the mecanic had lined up the pistons as you did and the camshafts have the marking facing up but I didn't seen him verifying anything under the car as you did. Can you please explain in more detail what have you locked under the car and why is important to do that? I have a Peugeot 308 cc 1.6 thp 150 hp and the car runs as if it has max 80 horse power and it doesnt make pressure enough into the turbo.The only error I have :P0016.Please advise.Thank you!

      @r.sgreasemonkey8876  Před 4 lety

      Hi. The timing pin location for the crankshaft is under the car by the exhaust and bel housing. This has to be inserted to ensure exact position of the posting. Other wise possible fault codes may occur when running ( coherence faults)
      Hope this helps. Cheers

  • @theresdave1363
    @theresdave1363 Před 2 lety

    Hiya, out of interest, what was the reason for the timing being out on this car? Did you not consider chain stretch? Can you help me as I have exactly the same fault code P11A8 (1.6 Prince 2008 16v 2 x VVT's) plus occasional chain grating noise 2000-3000 rpm and worse when at full temp which immediately goes when engine is restarted. So I've just took off the rocker cover to find the top chain guide completely worn away metal and all! Plus the inlet dephaser pully moves when chain pressed down between pulleys ( engine static obviously) and I've been told it should not.l it should be locked by a pin. Any help would be really appreciated, Thanks, David.

    • @r.sgreasemonkey8876
      @r.sgreasemonkey8876  Před rokem +2

      The chain should be tight and under tension at all time with the self adjustment. Top chain guide seems to be a common issue with this type of engine. Once replaced and time up , it will run a treat.

      @@r.sgreasemonkey8876 Thanks Richard for taking the time to reply, much appreciated. I've got a new top guide to fit, I'm hoping simply fitting that will pull the timing back into correlation!?
      So many of these top guides have sold on ebay and it's the only part of the chain kit that you can buy on its own (that I've seen anyway) which says alot as to the common issue with it like you say. Best wishes, Thanks again, David

      No. As it's not an issue when servicing is kept up to date with the right oil grade. The vvt' s become the issue. Chains are known to wear and stretch on all chain drive engines.

    • @stevenlangdon-griffiths293
      @stevenlangdon-griffiths293 Před 3 lety +1

      Richard Sawyer I think what he means is, on the lower inlet camshaft, there is a quadrant gear, the valvetronic motor has a worm drive gear which meshes with the quadrant. What is the position of the quadrant? On every video, I've seen, including yours, the quadrant gear is vertical and I assume it's the resting position, so possibly that's the position that you fit the valvetronic motor/drive gear.
      I'm rebuilding a mini same engine, and I'd like to know the fitting process of the valvetronic motor please?

      There is a turnstile inside motor on back
      Insert I think 4mm Allen and twist in reverse then insert into block and keep backing out until motor is flush then switch to forward motion until it engages the cam and sits at the end of the half circle

      @@alpereno P0012 is a generic fault code that shows the intake camshaft timing on bank 1 is more retarded than what the powertrain control module [ PCM] has commanded it to be. P0012 in Mazda means an over retarded timing. The variable valve timing on the intake camshaft is not adjusting correctly, making the onboard computer register a fault code.

      Locking tool is most important. If the timing is slightly out engine lamp will always come on. Coherence codes will be stored in the ecu. Even if your a tooth out. If you are in the UK then vehicle will fail its MOT if registered after march 2003 (petrol engines)
      Locking the cams will fix issues. Cheers
