The songs do not end abruptly when you listen to Dark Side Of The Moon in album or CD form. They all bleed into each other. You MUST listen to it that way to appreciate it.
Pink Floyd is full of this continuation and blending. An perfect example being on The Wall which starts with the faint “we came in?” and ends with “Isn’t this where”!
@@TYoung023 And Best listened through a set of Headphones.
When I rip a Pink Floyd CD they almost always end up being reassembled into 2 songs...Side-1 and Side-2.

I'm a vet and not ashamed to say this song makes me cry every time.
Veteran, veterinar, nurse or manager we all have a soul and Pink Floyd's music touches it, especially this album, you can close your eyes and float along the frequencies. Just experiencing. I love them so much....
It did to my dad, too, a Vietnam vet.
I seen Floyd do this album live at at the 2nd British Rock Fest in Germany in 1972 or 73, while I was in the army. WOW!
And me!
Yes. Both sides are just regular people.
Please, Please, PLEASE. Listen to this album, in entirety, uninterrupted, without commentary. From 'Speak To Me' to 'Brain Damage/ Eclipse'. I still remember the experience over 30 years later
I came here for the same comment.
Not sure how to do it best streaming but Pink Floyd Albums needs to be done in their entirety.
Not for us but for us but for you.
Us and Them was cut off early. There is another music section that leads into the climax of the album "Brain Damage / Eclipse".
Dark Side of the Moon, Wish you Were Here, The Division Bell, and The Wall (movie) are all
designed to be taken in one setting.
If you are worried about copyright you could just stream your reaction and not the content.
We can play the content on our side. Just tell us when to push play.

Dark Side of the moon lines up with perfectly with The Wizard of Oz if you sync them up right.

@@JayOwinFull I don't even care if they record it: in fact, in some ways, I'd like for the experience to Only live in their memory, and not be recorded. They can discuss how they felt and what they thought, and record that after. but the experience should be unique and private. Imho
Honestly, I don't even mind whether they livestream the album with facecam or listen to it off stream then subsequently post a review. Don't get me wrong, if they can somehow find a way to pull off the livestream w/facecam, huzzah! But I'll take what I can get. I can find some fulfillment in the knowledge they heard it and their thoughts about it
Without comment seems like a weird request in a reaction channel, unless you mean off camera.
Exactly.. It's gotta be done right. Not botched up here and there. It loses its true effect really. Just too diehard I guess to not have it not listened to properly. You gotta chill for this...
I came home from Vietnam in 1973. We wore this album out while drinking decent Italian wine and smoking high grade Jamaican reefer. This album in it's entirety is genius.
You lived in an epic moment in history, dale. One crazy year after another in those days. Cannot imagine what it must have been like. I was just little kid, but I knew something really strange was going on.
I was about 14 . We spent that whole summer doing the same thing. Though our wine was cheap.... still. This album was a way of life.
I hear you man fire up a bong jam to Floyd😎
TOTAL RESPECT You did what was asked. THEY FUCKED up. THANK YOU THANK YOU xxxx
Came home in 74 after 651 days. This album saved me.
Definitely an entire album that cries out to be heard stoned. And many, many of us answered that cry.

Fun Fact: Dark Side of the Moon holds the record of staying on the Billboard 200 album chart for over 18 years. Nothing else comes close.
And that's both sides of the Atlantic. Over here too in the UK, where this genius originated. Æ 🙏
Dark Side has been called, “The most important artistic statement of the last half century.” Personally, listening to Floyd always leaves me in a better place.
By whom?
The critical evaluations are from decades long professional music critics, contained within the co- produced ( Isis/Eagle Rock review), called Classic Albums, from 2006. Directed by Mathew Longfellow/ UK. Content licensed exclusively to Eagle Rock Entertainment Lmd from 2003 Pink Floyd Music Limited. Now for who. His name is Robert Sandall, critic, journalist and broadcaster, UK. This one album has accounted for more than 200 million in sales worldwide. Some estimates speculate closer to 300. It spent a record 741 weeks, or almost14 years on the Billboard Charts. However, the presentation of, Album of the 20th Century, was given to the band Eagles, ( not, The Eagles) for their compilation called, Greatest Hits. By the way, this can all be found on the Google Machine. Regards

Without listening to it uninterrupted you can't grasp why the songs begin and end as they do, bleeding into each other
Exactly what I was going to say.
Without a doubt one of the reasons why it charged for almost 20 years, I’m 46 and my 22-year-old nephew has recently got really into Pink Floyd and I couldn’t be happier because it’s such great music

Possibly the best album ever recorded. Must be listened to from beginning to end to really appreciate this masterpiece.
That album may be one of the few that NEEDS to be listened to straight through... Different experience.
Keep telling them until they listen. They'll thank you for it.
The other few for me being at least Wish you were here, The Wall, and The Division Bell. I'm sure the others too but for me these are the main 4 that are truly one piece of music
I would put The Final Cut in that list as well and to a slightly lesser extent Animals.
It's equally perfect strait through (CD, streaming) as it is in two halves (vinyl, cassette).
This and "The Wall" both....
This is from the 14 x platinum album, Dark Side of the Moon. This album came out in 1973, and destroyed all album sales for more than a decade. This is a must listen, if there ever was one. Facts!
This is the most underrated song on the album, in my opinion. It's such a rollercoaster ride with the its chill sax vibes at times, and then quickly transitions into these massive crescendos.
Very similar to Summer '68. Richard Wright was a master at this type of music.
I love this classic.... 💜

Well you’ve listened to the whole album with the exception of the Roger Waters sung tunes of Brain Damage/Eclipse.
If and when you get to those you have to listen to both as they are connected. Technically, the whole album is connected but those two have no separation.
And yes, do a live stream of the album from start to finish. You may have a new insight on the songs from your original listen.
Sometimes I put the CD into the player, lean back in my Lazy Boy with my headphones on and feet up, close my eyes and listen to the whole CD. It is like the music picks me up and carries me away, and where it takes me sometimes seems to change depending on my mood, and when it finishes I feel really chill.

This album must be heard in its entirety as each song flows into the next. The whole album is one complete work.
Us and them is just general. That's why the verse is followed up with "me" and "you" and the note that it isn't want we would choose to do. It's the idea that you and I can sit down and figure shit out, but when you start to get groups - gangs or governments - the "me" and "you" gets subsumed.
Well put. Or as Tommy Lee Jones out it to Will Smith at the beginning of Men in Black, "A person is smart. People are dumb, panicky dangerous animals and you know it."

I was glued to my seat back in the 70s while at a pink Floyd concert. The music was that impact full. By the way so was everyone else. I will never forget that feeling of that powerful experience. I was probably 15 , I am 65 now , I have seen hundreds of concerts. I will never forget this one.
"It just ends like that?"
The Dark Side of the Moon album is intended to be listened to from front to back, in order, without interruption. So the songs flow from one into the next without defined starting and stopping points.
That's why it's a little jarring to listen to anything from the album in isolation; the beginnings and endings seem random.
Been listening to this album for well over 40 yrs. Never gets old. One of the top 3 all time albums. It has been certified 14X platinum in the uk. Topped the us billboard where it charted for over 958 weeks. Selling an estimated 45 million copies. In 2013 it was selected for preservation in the United States national recording registry by library of congress for being deemed culturally -historically-or aesthetically significant. ✌️
Every note on this album is perfect. The ending seems abrupt, but this song blends directly into the next with no break in the soundscape. When you listen to the individual tracks, the song breaks become evident. Listen to the whole album straight through sometime.
You have to listen to the whole album to truly grasp the concept . These geniuses were ground breaking . No break between songs , each one rolled into the next . Pure class ! I'm 59 now , never been able to get away from the sheer brilliance of their musicianship . I must add , that it's refreshing to see young people appreciate the excellence of Floyd and cast off the shackles of banal mainstream dirge .
Yet another brilliant track from one of the greatest albums ever made. You really need to listen to the whole album because it's a concept album about some of what goes on in life for many people. The trials and tribulations we go through. Lex is spot on, listening to 'The Dark Side Of The Moon' while having a nice fat spliff is absolutely the way to do it. I speak from personal experience here. You need to listen to the track i consider to be their magnum opus 'Echoes'. It's pretty long at 23-30 but the images I have in my head when listening are mind blowing.
I love how gently the song begins after the organs. It's almost dramatic in its gentleness.
The album that this song is from is "Dark Side of the Moon", a concept album where the theme is the human condition. This song specifically is about conflict, be it between nations (wars), classes (rich vs. poor), or individuals. Other songs on the album have themes of aging, death, greed, and mental illness. The talking that you heard at the very beginning was the ending of the song that immediately precedes "Us and Them" on the album, as most of the tracks bleed into the next. I recommend, as others have commented, that you listen to the entire album in one sitting, because that's how the band intended it and how it's best appreciated.
I was only 12 when this album came out. I was with my older brother playing basketball at a buddies place when someone in the house put this album on the turntable and I was mesmerized. It's funny how a person can remember past events and how it makes one feel when they hear a certain song. I'm 61 now and I still listen to this album. Imo, the whole album is one of the greatest musical masterpieces of the 20th century. There's simply nothing like it. All their music is worth a listen.
When you'll decide to react to "Brain Damage", remember that you cannot listen to it without "Eclipse": they are intended to be listened as a whole.
You need to "partake" and listen to this entire album from start to finish to truly appreciate it. One of my absolute favorite albums.
Yep, whole album straight thru. Take the ride

This is a thyme album and should really be listened too from side one, song one, to the end of side two when it all comes back around. A masterpeice of musical talent.
This album was produced to be listened to in it's entirety it flows from song to song. That's why many seem to just cut off. You are both right in what it's about. We are always dividing ourselves into us and them. Countries, ethnicity, regional, down to families and friends.
Lex wears all these rock band shirts. Lamb of God. She's too cool. Turning herself into a rocker. Music grabs us all.
The two of you are delightful. You have brightened my day. Carry on.
Your guys work is appreciated very much. Lex's love for music makes me want to watch. Pink Floyd are the masters of recording and engineering. They set the standard.
Timeless poetry such as this has many levels of meaning.
Laid out before us by the artist so succinctly, yet so sublime.
All of us can see the reference to the nature of war, its cruelty, and futility.
However, I believe there is a more primal meaning to these words. It's more about human nature, rather than the nature of war.
The “Us and Them” verse refers to how groups (tribes) of humans can be cruel to one another, but as individuals we like to think we would not act this way.
The “Black and Blue” verse refers to how, from the beginning of time and until its end, individuals are drawn to congregate and called to war. We like to think that as individuals we are called to war by our dehumanized leaders with their wicked words.
The “Down and Out” verse is the clincher that exposes one cruel aspect of human nature, greed. The greed of nations cause war and we can't deny that is what the fighting is all about. Yet, in our personal lives, our greed can blind us to the suffering of the needy within our own society with people dying for the price of tea and a slice.
I have to say it again!! You are so cool Lex!! And btw. Smokin and Floyd go hand in hand. ❤✌

It’s remarkable just how well DSOTM stands up today. I remember being stunned by it during the early/mid 70’s, reviling it during the Punk era, and slowly rediscovering its greatness as I grew older. The album truly represents an artistic achievement.
One of the cooler moments of a Pink Floyd concert is when they played this tune. Everybody was standing up for the first 4 or 5 songs of the show. They start playing “Us And Them” and everyone sat down in an orderly fashion starting with the front row. It was a mellow moment and cool to see
Dark Side of the Moon is a single performance. And yes Lex, it is amazing to listen to with friends, sitting on the floor in someone's living room with a little purple haze in the air.

This song is so so so sad to me. I cry every time I hear it because the lyrics really hit me. "God only knows it's not what we would choose to do." Specifically is where I lose it - most normal people wouldn't choose war, and yet we have no control over it.
Lex is down right smart, a bit odd but very insightful wrapped up in a cute persona, she would fit in with my own daughters.
The beauty of Floyd lyrics is that they are so vague, but are totally specific to the listener at the time...every time
You know there are a lot of absolutely perfect records and every song is great . But DSOTM is beyond the level of perfection , it’s one hour of pure emotions that lifts your mind to a state it only can reach when listening this exact record. There’s nothing quite like it.

The Dark Side of the Moon is one of the greatest albums ever made. It never ages, and it was years before its time. It is designed to be listened to from beginning to end. It is profound, timeless, beautiful, dark, and challenging all at once. It evokes emotions and feelings, thoughts of life and death, love and loss, and madness. An extraordinary feat. I tire of even the best albums, I have to leave a long time between listens... but not this. The music, the lyrics, the vocal interjections, the experimentation. It is life- and death-affirming.

Piggybacking off of Lex’s “story” about smoking with her roommate, in a onesie, and eating cheese, just contemplating life. I traveled to Gainesville to visit a buddy in college in ‘96, and we smoked a ton. I was sitting in his room in a loft, and this song was playing. I melted into the coach, and my entire life played out in my head in the most calming way possible. I was on a magic carpet at times just floating through different stages of time, and it got to the point that I was convinced if I open the blinds to his window, I would be starting out a window of my high school in NY. It was awesome. This song is just so beautiful in every way, stoned or sober, but on another level when you introduce the devils lettuce. Top 5 songs for me to go to when extremely high.
You guys really need to react to the entire album all at once.
"Have a cigar" is a great Hollywood portrayal song.. a must by Pink Floyd
It never hurts to be "in the right frame of mind" when listening to Pink Floyd. Just saying.

Gotta make another comment. Lex is so good at picking up on things, she amazes me. Doesn't matter if they're listening to a song, or watching a news story. Anything, she's in tune. Round and round and round we go. Just look at the world, we've all been going in that circle since the beginning of time, and we're destined to repeat our past mistakes.
I agree with others, the album must be heard in it’s entirety at least once.

Back in O.C. Calif when I was 27 my wife heard a commercial on the radio about a P.F. show coming up. Knowing I am a Floyd fan she called the radio station to get information on the concert, The DJ on live radio said...."Congratulations, YOU are caller number 10, YOU just won tickets to the show and the Sound Check Party before the show"... I met David Gilmour and he gave us both a signed album. We chatted for 22 minutes while he signed others albums. 35 lucky people won tickets. It was AWESOME show.
Hard to just stop songs that all blend together. The end of Money was what you heard at the start (with the voices etc) Any colour you like was next. This isn’t a “one song” listen. Pink Floyd may have HITS but not their intention. Each song from each album is part of a puzzle or story. Good work in working what you feel the song is about. Definitely one that is up for your own perspective
When I saw PINK FLOYD on the Animals tour, they opened up with this song and the Arena was totally ⚫️ out.
The first verse is about going to war, how on the front line we don’t get much chance to communicate with one another, because someone else has decided that we shouldn’t. The second verse is about civil liberties, racism, and color prejudice. The last verse is about passing a tramp in the street and not helping.
That is what Waters says now but somewhat different to what he previously said. He has a habit of reinterpreting his lyrics according to what he thinks is most topically relevant at the time.
I just so sgree, you need to listen to Dark Side Of The Moon in its entirety sometime to get the full Floyd effect. What you just heard is from it, the ebb and flow of this album is mind blowing, I still smoke a fat one for Floyd and have for over 50 years, they are musical geniuses in the top 5 of any musical act in human experience. Also experience Wish You Were Here and Animals all the way through, for the Wall, watch the movie. The journeys of a lifetime await you right on your couch! Enjoy. 🎸 By the way that song goes right into the next, they all do...
I would suggest you guys listen to the wall many times through to end before watching the movie. Listening will give you your own mental imagery. Once you watch the movie your own mental imagery is likely to be replaced. That’s what happened to me anyway. I don’t regret watching the movie, it’s great. But you want to have your own unique experience visually first. At least I’m glad I did. Wish I could remember what it was…
This album on the Vinal with a joint and some drapes on the lamp shades set the mood.
While I've loved seeing the extreme difference in the way Brad and Lex listen to music... or rather, that Lex is so into the music and Brad is solely interested in lyrics, often completely ignoring the music (literally in the case of Crimson and Clover, which Lex would probably love), sometimes I feel it might be a better idea for Lex to solo certain songs that are light on words, heavy on music.
Yeah Brad just doesn't get it.. His reactions are just ugggg
Should be Lex and Brad instead of his name first. Not very open minded and she is
Hey, you lovely people. I've been listening to Pink Floyd for 55 years, at least. Dark side of the Moon was released in 1973, so it's nearly reached the 50 year milestone. Yet, they never cease to amaze me! I continually notice little bits and pieces that I'm sure I never heard before and continue to understand lyrics differently, too. Watching people of your generation evidently enjoying so much, questioning the meaning of the lyrics and eventually questioning what we as humanity actually are is an absolute joy and a blessing for our generation to witness. People like you are the hope of the world! May you be well. May you be happy. Uncle Clive. 🙂🙏🙂
Love you guys but when it comes to pink floyd. You have to listen to the whole album not 1 song at a time in random order
