      I'm another one who is watching this in tears. I've never in my 55 years been so emotional about the release of an album. I was concerned that they would try to be modern but they still sound like Abba (i.e. perfect). I've waited 40 years for this and it is well worth the wait plus t is fantastic that a whole new group of people are discovering Abba. I pre-ordered the album as soon as I could.

  • @mikaelpeltonen96
    @mikaelpeltonen96 Před 2 lety +68

    The dimensions of these lyrics are ingenius. It's like they are talking about reuniting with someone they once loved and audience's response to new Abba music at the same time. "I'm not the one you knew, I'm now and then combined" or "I'm asking you to have an open mind, don't shut me down"

    • @HolgerJakobs

    • @mikaelpeltonen96
      @mikaelpeltonen96 Před 2 lety +1

      @@HolgerJakobs There is that but on the other hand they learned English over 40 years ago, one could say they write better than most natives. Foreigners think about the language in a different way so they almost have an advantage making the lyrics flow, sounding light and deep simultaneously.

  • @tuijakarttunen9164
    @tuijakarttunen9164 Před 2 lety +100

    The symbolism behind these lyrics is absolutely brilliant. I think you can see them at least two ways: on one hand, talking about themselves, how they were and how they are now, on the other hand, about their avatars and themselves now combined: I am hot, don`t shut me down. The magic is still there. And I can hardly believe this is happening.
    "And now you see another me, I've been reloaded, yeah
    I'm fired up, don't shut me down
    I'm like a dream within a dream that's been decoded
    I'm fired up, I'm hot, don't shut me down
    I'm not the one you knew
    I'm now and then combined
    And I'm asking you to have an open mind (And I won't be the same)"

    • @monmothma3358
      @monmothma3358 Před 2 lety +4

      Yeah, symbolism.. I'm always aware that it's Björn who writes the lyrics, even though the girls sing it, so my first thought was that this is his message to Agnetha, like "Come join the group, I won't act like I did last time" when she was pushed to touring, he was a workaholic, and the other stuff that ruined their marriage and ultimately made her a reclusive for a long time (noone knows everything that happened but them, so I could be completely wrong here, but it was my first thought).

    • @scatterkeir
      @scatterkeir Před 2 lety +3

      Yes, it has reminded me that one of the things that makes Abba great is great decision-making, the decision to make these songs one one level about the sorts of things Abba songs were always about and on another level about Abba now and their relationship with us is a fantastic decision, it really adds another emotionally powerful level. Of course, it wouldn't work if they didn't pull it off so well.

    Thanks for the ABBA. Benny/Bjorn are great song writers. And Agnetha and Frida have always been the best at bringing their songs to life. I thought it was wonderful in the interview when Bjorn said as much. And how privileged and lucky they are to have them again. He said they brought a maturity and knowledge that's unmatched. You just put the song in front of them and they deliver. I don't know how the current generation will feel about this. But for me this is what music is supposed to be. To me both girls are still at the top of the list for female vocalist. Love you Frida ❤️. Love you Agnetha ❤️. Thanks Benny/Bjorn, you guys have delivered again.

    I'm 54 years young in a few short weeks, and have grown up with ABBA all my life - they have provided the "soundtrack to my life" - and I have been an loyal fan throughout, even when they were (supposedly) "out of fashion" and "uncool" - simply because I knew - and was confident - that their music was someting VERY special and would stand the test of time, despite all those nay-sayers and mumblers and grumblers, and music snobs at the time and even over the intervening years.
    Suffice to say that, personally, I have never had any doubts that ABBA are simply the best band in the world ever; and I feel utterly vindicated that they have proved me right and stood the test of time... and these new songs only add to, enrich and improve on their original canon and body of genius songwriting: it really does feel like they have simply picked up where they left off - a seamless continuation... and these two first songs are absolute gems and couldn't be more "ABBA" (I have had them playing on repeat and, yes, the tears have flowed, I am unashamed to admit), and I am really looking forward to hearing the full album in a couple of month's time (the pre-order for VOYAGE is in!).
    In one sense it's a crying shame that we had to wait almost 40 years to hear new songs from this amazing band (even though the back-catalogue was plenty to see us through), but maybe that's just how the script had to be written for this super talentet quartet. Who knows... only time and history will tell, but the bottom line: this music will be remembered and will bring sheer joy, melacholy, and inspiration - indeed an entire wave of emotions - for both music lovers and indeed musicians - for generations to come, of that I am absolutely sure... Timeless and utterly priceless genius...!
    I'm so glad - and thankful - that I grew up when I did... God bless, the Super Swedes - and, yes - Thank you so much, ABBA, for this glorious music...!!! (and thank YOU, JayveeTV, for this "reaction" video. It was entertaining and delightful to watch! ;)

    1. I Still Have Faith in You is malancholic, it's the type of song which grows in you as you listen to it more and more often.
    2. Don't Shut Me Down is more upbeat and dancy, the type which you like straight away.
    Conclusion- Both are great and have their own strengths. Just enjoy them as they are

    I wasn’t even born when they started making music and today they’re all in their seventies, but as soon as I heard their songs some time in my early childhood up till today, I never get tired listening to them ☺️. Such great music 🙌🏻😍. I’m so glad the rest of the world enjoy it too.

    Nice! It was really cool to see your surprise and overall joy hearing this slice of pop perfection from the masters. I cannot stop listening to this song, I’ve had my earbuds in for the last two days and have been listening to this song on repeat because I’m addicted to the strings, the synths, the beat which I am not able to sit still to. I pre-ordered “Voyage” and cannot wait to hear the full album.

    Such a joy to hear abba once again ,and I can't keep still listening to this song ,and the lyrics are so emotional ,basically saying they aren't the same as before but they are still loving life and music despite their ages and life experiences since they split over 40 yrs ago .they definitely still have that magic between them after all this time .I love it

    What a comeback, 40 years on, are they as good as before, not only as good, better. Tears are flowing, millions around the World are reacting exactly the same way. We have it back, real music, instruments, melodies, a chorus, real voices.... I am so emotional, they were the band of my teens, growing into adulthood, the trials of relationships. Now I am entering my twilight years, I am not the same, but in many ways I AM the same, I still look for the music I can relate to, and now it's back again. Abba were huge in the 70's, although they split, we still listened, watched, hoping, wishing, praying for a revival, being told it would never happen time and again, and now here it is, the World needed this, in these days we needed an upbeat feel, thank you for the music once again ABBA

    I'm too young to have been a fan of ABBA back in the days (I was born 10 years too late) but ever since I discovered them around the age of 10, I have been in love with their music. And hearing them come back like that feels amazing. A new ABBA album releasing in my lifetime, that is so awesome to think about. Great reaction.

    I love both of these new songs, it's two contrasting sounds that Abba are so good at. As you said, this has that disco beat that Abba are renowned for. I was bopping along in my seat. They haven't lost their touch, that's for sure.

    I'm so glad you went back to that final line a second time - it's the bit that really gets me each time I listen to it.
    It's like the song builds you up into a happy & safe bubble full of hope and optimism and then at the end suddenly bursts leaving just Agnetha's voice, suddenly sounding unsure & vulnerable. The tremor in that final note (the only time her voice betrays it's age) if anything adds to that feeling. And yet it's that maturity in her voice that also makes it even more powerful and beautiful to listen to.

    Love 🥰 ABBA. I'm in Australia and as a child, in March of 1977, I was fortunate enough to see ABBA Live in Concert here! Although it was decades ago I still vividly remember how fantastic it was! The first and best Concert that I have attended. You must watch/listen to ABBA's song "Thankyou for the Music" from 1977. Written by Benny Andersson and Bjorn Ulvaeus, the two guys in ABBA. Btw the blonde in ABBA is Agnetha, pronounced Ag-near-ta; She was married to Bjorn. Who wrote the lyrics for "The Winner 🏆 Takes It All", about their divorce. The Official Video for this song, will bring you to tears. How genius 🏆 to write a song about your divorce and then convince your ex-wife to sing it! 😳 And the redhead in ABBA, known as Frida, is Anni-Frid, who wasn't born in Sweden, Anni-Frid was born in Norway, and went to live in Sweden at the age of only 12 months old, a baby. Anni-Frid was married to Benny. Benny is a self taught piano 🎹 player! No lessons! And Bjorn is a brilliant 👍 writer of song lyrics. All of the songs on the brand new album "Voyage", unlike their songs from decades ago, where they co-wrote together; On "Voyage", Benny wrote all of the music first for all of the songs and then gave them to Bjorn who wrote all of the music lyrics without Benny! Love both new songs 🥰 I've already pre ordered my CD and Vinyl Copy of "Voyage." Everytime I hear their two brand new songs I'm brought to tears of happiness! 😅 "Thankyou for the Music" ABBA. Once again you have brought your Special Kind of Happiness back into Our World just when we all need it the most. Take care and stay safe 🤗 Love from Wendy in Australia 🐨🇦🇺💕💙

    I was 12 when they were charting in the mid '70's. To see so many of so many ages loving what they did back then, and what they have brought out now is simply mind blowing. I had always hoped they would do something but assumed they would rely on their past hits - never did i think they could come up with even more! Bjorn and Benny are Master Writers and Anna and Frida are Masters at singing. We live in a time that future generations will only dream of when it comes to ABBA! Thanks Jayvee :)

    Thanks for your channel. Love it! Fantastic new music from Abba! I'm from Sweden and met Agnetha 1974 or 1975 when I was just a kid. Her parents lived very near me in a town called Jönköping in Sweden, where Agnetha is from. When I know she was there I rang the doorbell, she opened and invited me into the kitchen where she gave me her autograph and spoke a little with me. Another time I met the whole Abba in an elevetor in the same estate! I was shy, looking down at the floor while they giggled. My friend lived at the third floor, Agnethas parents on the top floor at the eight. I saw her more times in the neighborhood with her little daughter.

    I didn't expect this.... I was curious how ABBA might sound after about 40 years. And now... Wham. I'm a little boy again. Sitting in the living room holding this LP "The visitors" and my mom comes in and says: "Be careful with it. It can be scratched so easily"
    I didn't expect this long forgotten memory. I'm in tears actually...
