SR+ owner here outside of DC. Drive to Philly and Eastern shore of MD on a regular basis. Not concerns on range or charging speed. With a smaller battery it charges in the same time as the LR. Cold cuts range, but coming from a Leaf, the SR+ is a breeze. Haven’t really had any phone issues but my wife occasionally does. I’m more than happy to save the money over the LR for the small things you lose. The floor mats are annoying, but paying $10k to get them and a few other perks doesn’t seem worth it for the average driver.

Very interesting opinions from the various owners. I own a SR+ in Michigan, which is routinely colder and snowier than Philadelphia. I have a good set of winter tires and I know how to drive in the snow (RWD can actually be quite fun 😂). No problems. I even made a video because I was surprised with how my SR+ could make it up my steep driveway in 6+ inches of snow (quite impressive to me). The only time I find myself wishing I had a dual motor is on longer road trips. But, I just find ways to make the extra charging time pass by like working from there car (wireless hotspot plus laptop). Ultimately, if $10,000 isn’t that much money for someone, I agree they should go for the dual motor. If that extra money puts a Tesla out of your price range (because getting it would be a bad financial/budget decision), then I think the SR+ is more than adequate. I don’t regret my decision and LOVE my car 😁

If I could go 160k with no Problem I think standard range could work. IE there would be done sort of charger every 160k on the coast .

That guy is reaching saying you need a dual motor long range just to drive 40 miles per day. You can probably replenish 40 miles overnight even with an 110v outlet. If you drive that type of daily mileage you don’t need to charge it 100% anyway. You could just charge to 80% even if you drove 100 miles per day and have level 2 charger at home.
Why is he so hung up on getting free floor mats? I want to pick my own floor mats instead of taking the ones they would throw in for free. So many better options in mats are available aftermarket.
Why not charge every night when you park in your own garage? I would only see it as an issue and extra hassle if you had to use public charging on the street.
He is also reaching saying it’s dangerous to drive in rain without AWD.

One thing i would like to ad. We have a long range 2019 model and a standard range plus 2021 model (with the new battery). The new SR+ can be charged to 100% all the time. Tesla even recommends that. It gets 410km of range at 100%. The long range model (which you can only charge to 90% on a daily basis) gets 414km of range at 90%. So the effective daily range is about the same if you compare those models.

I couldn't watch/listen, mostly listen past 7.5 minutes. Your brother in Calif is either lying to you about his daily miles ( I heard 10 to 15 miles one way, and some driving around after work) So....30 miles round trip and WHAT?? 100, 150 miles just driving around the same day? Come on. This is BS! Pure and simple.
    Let me present my case:
Your brother drives 60 miles to work and back, then he drives around another 60 miles goofing off (because he likes to drive the car knowing he isn't going to pay $4.29 a gallon for fuel.
If he had the dual motor Model 3, he would get a meager 90 miles more range, THAT'S IT!!!
In my example (allowing him twice the drive distance to and from work), he still could drive to work for two days, plus goof off driving, and still have a charge. If his routine was exactly like my fictitious scenario, he would have only 45 miles of extra charge each day, and couldn't pull off a third day of similar driving.
    So I call BS!

Assuming that Tesla's battery management is equal to better than Chevy, SR+ is sufficient for anyone with less than 150 mile daily use, who doesn't go on long road trips every weekend. The battery will hold up just fine charging above 90% daily.

We like to vacation in CA at the beach and live in AZ. We live in Northern AZ. It snows a little in the winter. These cars are so safe with the AWD in the snow. I love the upgraded interior and the speed. I test drove the SR and it seems like a whole different car. It's no waste of money to get an all around better car. They are just two different cars is probably the best way to look at it. My brother test drove a SR. He decided to not get the car. A month later he drove mine. He received his LR Model 3 last week and loves it . He had no idea how different they are. There are several reasons I can think of why someone may get a SR. They don't travel long distances, they live close to work, they really want a Tesla because Teslas are amazing! It fits their budget. They spend the 10 grand on full self diving. I started with Model Y, then went to down to SR+, because once again, I hated giving the Govt 5 K for free. My plan is to upgrade to the Model Y, if they ever bring the ON incentive back. I am moving into a house that has a Tesla charger, and my commute is only 30 Km per day. So I did the math, the SR + range is 423 KM, and only 60 percent is usable ( you shouldn't let is drop below 20 % and not charge it daily above 80 % to preserve battery life). That leaves you 255 KM per day, then slash it by additional 50 % in the very cold months. I am a realist, although the reports say that the heat pump really alleviates some of this loss. However, in the worst case, it would leave me with usable 127 Km per day on the worst case scenario. This will still be more than double what's needed on daily basis, even allowing for overtime battery degradation. I believe that's how can try about doing the math. I don't find this review to be very fair. 260 miles is more than enough range for 90+ percent of the population on a daily basis. How you choose to charge should not be part of the review as everyone charges differently. No reason a person can't charge to 100 percent everyday if that's what they need. It's not going to hurt the battery that much compared to the inconvenience for range needed. You most likely won't have the vehicle long enough to NEED a new battery pack. Also this must come from someone who grew up driving front wheel and awd vehicles because it's not that hard to drive rwd especially if you get snow tires. I would take this video with a very small grain of salt. I would not let this video as a decision changer. I have a 2020 Chevy Bolt and is rated at 259 miles and I drive 40 miles round trip to work alone and range is perfect. I also had a 2018 Leaf with 149 range and that was an issue.

Everyone plugs in their phone every day, you'll need to treat a Tesla the same as your smartphone! It takes 5 seconds to plug in when you get home and remove the plug before you sit in the car and drive, where filling up gas takes 5 minutes of waiting, at least twice a month. If you don't own a home or have a charging station at your apartment, you probably shouldn't be considering this car just yet because it's not a traditional car.
