    Congratulations on an amazing purchase and good luck with the building project of this legendary vehicle. I know that a lot of people choose the original movie to bring the Ghostbusters car back to life, but I've always liked the second part a lot more. So I hope you will be able to create an excellent replica of the new Ecto-1.

    • @unfinishedstudios
      @unfinishedstudios  Před 2 lety +3

      I appreciate that! I think the 1A will be a lot more fun to build. The Ecto-1 looks intricate, but there's really not much to the roofrack. Plus there are about a thousand of them out there now.

    • @jacksprofessionalproductio9403
      @jacksprofessionalproductio9403 Před 2 lety

      @@unfinishedstudios Personally I’ve always found the 1A to be more professional looking than the 1. As it has caution stripes indicating that there’s dangerous equipment inside and outside the vehicle, slogans and phone numbers to show it’s from a company and specific light colors represent the various services they provide. Idk if I said this before or not; maybe I’m just a broken record when it comes to your Ecto videos. Lol.
      Do you think not many fans build exact replicas of 1A because of its OTT look? Maybe the height of the roof rack and millions of lights turn them away and rather go for the simplicity of the Ecto-1?

    funny thing is I was gonna build an Ecto-1A out of this car when my friend and I pulled this out of the junkyard in Valdese,North Carolina. At the time I had owned a 1971 Cadillac Hearse that i was building my Ectomobile out of. I tried to convince my friend to let me have the 64 since he wasn't gonna do anything to it except restore it or flip it. He insisted that i had a better car because of the 472 motor in the 71 but i didn't care about the motor that i was going for the look. I see his truck and trailer in the video so he must have delivered it to you. I have pics and video from the day we picked her up back on Sunday April 8th 2018 if you are intrested. Good luck buddy!! Given how passionate and crafty you are about the Ectomobile, I’m willing to bet that after finishing this Ecto-1A and the Wrecto-1, you’ll soon start looking for cars to make the cartoon versions (TRGB and XGB) of the Ectomobile lol. Like you said, by the your kids are older or when you’re gone, you’ll probably have 10 Ectomobiles.
    Btw, I know the fin size on these mid 60s caddys are a bit small, but have you ever thought about making some taller make shift fins to sit on top the preexisting fins? Not necessarily 1959 styled, but something to make the fins taller and look factory made.

    Personally I haven't managed to scratch owning a hearse off the bucket list yet nearly had one a few times but besides the price being insane they were ridiculously rotten Beyond Salvage. Ghostbusters van 2 times now using a 2008 Dodge Caravan.the first one about a year after I started doing it the motor blew out and the body was too far gone to replace the motor on top of how much the Bodywork would have cost.i bout a nother 1 the same colour with about half the mileage for 500 and needed a hell of a lot less body work.i Have a ridiculous box of parts that I still haven't had the money to have put on the van after a boat a year and a half.no Not life-or-death parts;) .i meen cosmetic stuff.i Use the van for work hauling scrap and i barely make enough to get from one month to the next lol so spending about 600 box having things wired and put on is it really considered as important as stuff like having the brakes and steering working;). if i win the lotto admittedly I wouldn't mind having one of those old mercuries but I don't know how far I go doing one up to look like the Ghostbusters car.iam not a big fan of a lot of the stuff on the roof I like the roof lights and the basic white and red body but admittedly I'm not wild about a lot of that plumbing and foolishness but I like some of the more practical things like the CB antennas and roof lights. Still haven't gotten my hands on a couple of old manual police car search lights for on the doors.i have an engine Bonnet with a remote Searchlight on it from the previous van. Ironically that light cost more than I paid for the other van and it was on the van when I bought it lol. Wireless remote Searchlight I've been trying to get a second one so it'll have one on either side matching but the damn light used I've seen them wanting 400 + 600 apparently knew it's over 1,000. Finding one of these old mercuries with that low amount of rest is just mind-blowing.

      I watched Spider-Man: Homecoming recently, and am feeling a little Tony Stark-ish to your Peter Parker here. You'll have time, but you might be a little young for it right now. Why don't you go small and start buying all the stuff for the roof? Start putting the lightbars together, find the WWII oxygen tanks, the siren, the strobe, etc -- when your parents see your collection and notice how much time and effort you put into it -- that it's not just a short fad for you -- then they might consider helping you buy a car in a few years. How's that for advice? ------TONY STARK IS NO LONGER TRANSMITTING.

    It has a beacon! Dose it work? When you do turn it into the 1A, what are you gonna do with it? Even though this question might be a bit more oriented towards those who are more interested in the history of these cars, but what is the brand? I have seen that the beacon they came with was from some brand, but I can't think of the name atm...

    • @unfinishedstudios
      @unfinishedstudios  Před 2 lety +1

      It does -- I would have ran it in the video, but the battery was really close to dead. Car barely started. I'll have to look for the brand. It did come with the car, so I'm thinking it's original. There's also a siren under the hood.

Although it would be nice to see the beacon used somewhere or be donated to someone restoring a pro car. Like it makes me wonder what happens to the landau bars when people build Ectos, do they throw them out, do they keep them so if they sell the car, the next owner can turn it back into a hearse, or do they sell them to someone doing a restoration on a car of the same year...🤔
