Kicking out Lyndsey before the last tour was just a plain wrong move. Even more wrong is that they performed the hit songs he wrote and nearly all of the others which he produced the bulk of. I hope he got royalties.

Actually Stevie said that she wrote Leather and Lace for Waylon and Jessi but they decided that they didn't want to do the song so Stevie asked Don if he wanted to do the song with her.

1:06:42 I believe a lot of what you're talking about regarding the concert where Christine slapped Lindsey and threw a glass of wine at him comes from the show that Fleetwood Mac did in my hometown of Wellington, New Zealand in 1980. I wasn't alive back then, but my uncle was at that show and he told us the story at a family gathering once where people were sharing stories of the best and worst concerts they had seen. He said that that show was the worst concert he'd ever seen. He said that the show started out alright, but when Stevie began to sing "Rihannon" things got ugly in the form of Lindsey pulling his jacket over his head and running around the stage, mocking Stevie's moves. In response, after the song was over Christine slapped him and threw a glass of wine on his face. The band then paused the show to try and calm everybody down, which angered the audience and people started chanting for the opening act to come back.
He did not mention anything about Lindsey throwing his guitar at Stevie, though, so I presume that story comes from a different show. But yeah, my uncle was in the crowd when a lot of that shit went down on stage - in little old Wellington of all places, too; if I were there I certainly would've been mad as hell since back in those days, hell even nowadays, fuck all big bands come here.

You are right about it being that New Zealand show. The story is in "My Life & Adventures in Fleetwood Mac" by Mick Fleetwood. The guitar toss may have the same show; we can't remember without looking it up in the book.

How mad could you be when tickets then cost like $10 - less than Tusk the album. Watching a drunk Lindsey Buckingham dance around with his jacket over his head while playing Rhiannon would have been worth the price of admission. 😂
There was no mention of the guitar throw by your uncle because it never happened - at least not on stage with an audience. It was a story Stevie built up and up from this same concert in a succession of different interviews over the decades. First he flicked his foot at her, then he may have kicked at her or something - she can't recall, then he threw his guitar to the ground and it almost slid into her and then he was chucking a Les Paul (which he didn't play on the Tusk Tour) at her head and she (coked to the gills and barely able to stay on stage without falling off night after night) ducked like a ninja. The concert was broadcast nationwide over the radio and there was a huge press conference the next day - the guitar throw was never mentioned.
Rocks Stars being wasted or performing poorly was a regular occurrence but do you think if Lindsey Buckingham hurled his guitar at Stevie Nicks' head in front of 10s of thousands of people in 1980 when they were the biggest band in the world that no one would have mentioned it let alone not reported it until Stevie brought it up over 30 years later? Mick dished as much dirt as he could in his book especially at Lindsey who he was still mad at for leaving the band - even though he later sad he lied about a lot and was wasted when he wrote it - and even he didn't mention any guitar throwing.
Stevie likes to tells stories and not just in her songs. The cleaning lady and waitress stories and how she was the one pulling all the financial and working weight in the relationship is ridiculous and at this point just self mythologizing. In every Stevie concert now it's a speech about how Lindsey couldn't get a job because what could he possibly do? Oh besides play, arrange, record, produce your music and album, be a session musician and go on the road with Don Everly - because he had marketable skills aside from singing and songwriting.

I loved the Astrology breakdown at the beginning. I had no idea Cliff was such a thorn in Mick Fleetwoods side. Mick really went through it! In a way I don’t blame them for getting into drugs as an escape. Although it hampered them later in their careers. BTW Gold Dust Woman was on the Rumours album. Thanks for your efforts in putting all of this together. I thoroughly enjoyed the video! 😊💕💕⚡️⚡️

In 2019 while Stevie was inducted into the RR Hall of Fame for her solo career, apparently Lindsey was mocking her during her acceptance speech and that set her off saying she was tired of his abuse. Btwn that spat and Lindsey’s solo album conflict, I believe that is why they chose to fire him from the band. Of course we are not privy to all of the communication that went on between all parties. But I remember thinking that he was not totally innocent in the whole split. It was sad….an end of an era…then Christine passed away….so that really ended FM. But they left a wonderful legacy that I still enjoy to this day!💕⚡️

In regards to Tusk’s phallic name I would say it’s more likely a Mick Fleetwood choice, their second album Mr. Wonderful was one he intended to name “A Very Good Length” with a picture of a tower as the cover but someone in management said no lol

The band was unfair to Bob Welch. He belongs in the Hall of Fame.

    • @silvermoontearoom7123
      @silvermoontearoom7123 Před 7 měsíci

They decided to include the founding members of Fleetwood Mac plus the lineup with the greatest commercial success.
Bob wasn't the only previous member who wasn't included, and Bob could have been nominated on his own for his solo career.
Bob did leave the band in a difficult position because he quit in 1974 even though they had upcoming concerts booked in the US.
Still, Fleetwood Mac did reach out to Bob Welch, appeared with him & produced him during the Rumours era to help him have hit solo songs such as a revised Sentimental Lady, and Ebony Eyes with Stevie Nicks.
Please watch the 1978 Cal Jam 2 where Bob is joined by Stevie Nicks & Mick Fleetwood for "Ebony Eyes." Bob Welch & Friends from 1981 shows the support he was given by Fleetwood Mac years after he quit the band.
There was a very nasty lawsuit over money that the band settled and it ended their relationship with him.
He was very unhappy, and in alot of pain from back problems that eventually caused him to take his own life to end his suffering.

Disappointed that so many facts were wrong. Ridiculous things claimed, too many examples, like Eddy helping Chris to write YMLF. Left out the event that broke Peter & Danny... There is a mountain of footage of the actual band members speaking about everything in interviews alone, and in interviews as part of documentaries. MF wrote 2 books with great info. Bob Brunning's book is excellent, too. Ken Caillat who produced Rumours, Tusk, Mirage & 1992's The Chain boxed set has written 2 very detailed & excellent books. The Nicksfix is a great source; it used to be her official website until he retired, but he left the website up... We appreciate you wanting to bring FM details to another generation. We ask that you do it with better accuracy... All the best! 🐧 Ps. You posted this in 2023. 1968+50yrs= 2018. The 50th anniversary tour was during 2018-2019. Christine announced FM was finished in 2021; MF confirmed it in @grammys 2023, which was well before you posted this video.

I wish more older people were talking about them. It's hard for younger people to do it justice. There is a guy who broke down the song Sara and he seemed to be around and as a musician is in the know. Channel name is professor of Rock.

@@smarti1144 Sara was written about Don Henley of the Eagles, and the child they didn't have because she would have had to quit Fleetwood Mac during the Rumours tour. "Great dark wing" was a car MF used to drive, Sara just happened to be there when song was written, so they both think it's about them. Storms was written about the same subject.

Love 😘 your dog 🐶 Arthur, 🤩😻💛🤍🕯️🕊️ which is a family 💖🙏💙💛 name, of a Missed, Departed family member. Received Stevie's first 🥇 Solo album on Christmas 🎄 🎁 day 1981, during the first year of HRH, Princess of Wales, Diana.💍 💒🌹 Both Stevie and Diana influenced me by their actions and Stevie's lyrics, in retrospect, a bad way. As a trained former clinical social worker, I believe, one or both of them were/are possibly borderline personality disordered. I will always admire parts of them, but I wish my role models would have been less dysfunctional; I fell hard for the poorly scripted Feminist narrative. "My bad." I realized the errors of this male-bashing narrative too late. Love, from yet another 🐈😺🐈😺🐈😺🐈 🩹Cat Lady.💖✌️🤩😻💛🙏💙😍👍
