Sonic Adventure DX: Director's Cut, an enhanced port of Sonic Adventure on the Sega Dreamcast, follows the well-known Sonic the Hedgehog as he races to stop Dr. Eggman's evil plans once again - this time in 3D. A notable feature in the game is five extra story modes for some of the other Sonic characters, including Tails, Knuckles and Amy.
This run by THC98 completes Sonic's story, utilizing out of bounds glitches and super fast spindashes for maximum speed. For more tool-assisted Sonic Adventure, see the run of Tails's story (tasvideos.org/2...) by the same author.
Note: The audio is slightly faulty because of a bug in Dolphin's DSP emulation engine. - Hry

Hi everyone, Encoder here.
This video was rather difficult to put together. For one, this TAS was made on an old version of Dolphin (3.0-735) and due to a bug in the DSP audio emulation, producing quality audio is next to impossible.
Any time Sonic does a massive amount of spin dashes, the audio stops playing for a few moments. In addition, these gaps are not captured when dumping footage normally, and those gaps Are necessary to keep audio in sync with video. However, there were still audio desyncs during loading screens, so I had to adjust the audio placement in post to accommodate for this. Some parts may be slightly out of sync but I did the best I could to fix it.
Now fortunately a new TAS will not have this issue as it’ll be on a more stable version of dolphin. But I’m glad I was able to do the dirty work so no one else has to suffer. ^^’

I don't know what is more cursed to me. The TAS-spindash or seeing unmodded SADX on its intended resolution after only seeing the modern ports for so long.
Technically the version that has all the mods is only a year newer than the GC version.
Damn its really been 10 years huh, I came back to see if anyone has beaten it and THC98 is still the champ!

was the coin sound always detuned in this game? this has nothing to do with the tas but i found it very noticeable.

Through the PC version yes. This is the GCN version. The PC version has extremely better load times compared to the GCN version.
Are there any Ring Attack run of this game?
Even the emulation glitches aside, this just makes me realize how bad the sound design in Sonic Adventure is.

"Oh no"s aside, I don't think it's that bad, but it's definitely unpolished (and old, and it shows).
So we're clear, the Rings have pitch-shifted sounds in both this and SA2 _as long as you're not playing on the Dreamcast._
