I feel like it needs some sound insulation underneath the hood, so the whole car becomes super quiet when you put the exhaust into quiet mode
It’s hard to tell through video but the engine noise is actually VERY quite with the valve closed. The problem is the tone and “chop” of the exhaust is still noticeable behind the car. Not much I can do to fix that
@@_Gingium_ maybe put a speaker that plays the sound of a stock Volvo to mask the chop? That might help
Redblock with a h cam doesn't sound entirely different. Hope the original engine went to a good home.
@@_Gingium_ "The problem is the tone and “chop” of the exhaust is still noticeable behind the car. Not much I can do to fix that" THEN IT'S NOT A SLEEPER if people can tell lol. I saw the video where you installed the valve, that thing still sounds like a truck, anyone who falls for your "sleeper" is a moron that just started driving
guarantee some exhaust professionals know how to fix that chomp from the back
SEATBELT buddy, it's even a Volvo invention!
Other than that, this is an absolutely immense build.
Hey I put it in for the second test drive!
@@_Gingium_ Congrats you're only 50% dumb
@@_Gingium_ Always, always on..
look at some Russian dash cams and you realize that is it not you dependent on safety...whenever will hit you and without any belt you probably loose
As someone who works in ICUs, wear a seatbelt. I can't tell you how many people I've taken care of with traumatic brain injuries because of no seat belt and no airbags. Trust me you don't want to be a vegetable with grey matter leaking out of your cavitated face.
@@tj_offroad I am a chiropractor so I work on them after they see you, and of course they are much worse off if they had no seat belt...ESPECIALLY if they hit the airbag which wasn't designed for unrestrained occupants. It's a habit that should be beaten into all of us. Personally I developed it as a habit when I owned a 1967 Impala with a vinyl bench seat; it's really hard to do cookies in the winter when you are trying to hold onto the steering wheel to stay in the car LOL.
Wear your seatbelt.
Pussio
He's in a volvo... he doesn't need to
@@cj2798volvo were the ones who invented the modern seatbelt💀
I’ve known 3 people that died in car accidents. 2 of them were from the fault of other people. And all 3 of them weren’t wearing there seatbelt.
I'm always so jealous when I see people that have basically any tool you can imagine at their garage so they can do anything they want. This is awesome
Me too :(
The cost of all that will usually be many-fold the amount spent on the project.
Someone gotta throw us a quick million🤣
... but uses a shifting spanner to tighten something. 🙂
Yeah, but the guy also has incredible vision, skill and art. The tools help, but looks like he could do great things with a roll of gaffer tape and a spoon.
Yeah, even if you gave me an entire garage like that I still wouldn't know how to add or remove something from the car.
@@slice6027 hence you likely don't need one
Your craftsmanship is literally insane, huge amount of growth on your end from all these projects. Keep it up man!
*figuratively*
A friend and I built a 244 in the late 80s, and a 264 in the early 90s.
Both 350 4 bolt main, double hump 1.94/ 1.5 heads, 350 hp 327 cam, suspension parts from IPD.
Blew the doors off rabbit GTs.
Weren’t the fastest things on the road, but surprised a lot of people. We had a great time with them for several years.
You brought back a lot of good memories, thanks.
Got a ‘78 262C Bertone Coupe in the shed I would like to pro-street some day.
I know it's been said plenty of times before, but I still just can't wrap my head around the level of growth this channel has seen over the years. I mean, think about it: Not that long ago you were sticking bolt-on parts on Miata's. Then you were fabricating tube frame chassis. Now you're putting an LS in a forty-year-old station wagon. Truly incredible. Keep doing what you're doing man.
Paul Newman and David Letterman stuffed Doug Nash rowed SBC's into Volvo wagons 30 years ago. Yawn.
@@genefogarty5395maybe take a nap eh bud
@@infinityiznow Zzzzzz.
@@genefogarty5395As I recall, they used SBFs not SBCs. Paul and Dave wrote checks to have someone else build the cars. Nothing wrong with that but it’s an apples to oranges comparison.
@@Union53992 One blown Ford in a 960 and it was nothing like the 377 and larger SBC equipped versions they all played with to get what they wanted. Letterman still has the 740 with the all-aluminum turbo'd Donavan 410" SBC. Whatever.
An old saab sleeper would be sick too! Awesome vid as usual
Convert to rear wheel drive! =)
There are a LOT of really cool sleeper ideas
An 2000's saab with a tune is basically a sleeper already

I'm extremely envious of the reaction Caleb gets when he pops the hood. But its more than well deserved. Keep it up!!!
Best part about this car is popping the hood and seeing peoples reactions!
Did collision repair on
the 240 Volvos and 740s many years. These cars were engineered for the collision repair tech to make easy quick repairs to perfection because of Volvo engineering. You won't find a better car to do high quality collision repair like factory.
I admittedly don't watch an awful lot of modified car content on CZcams but when I have seen "sleeper" builds of cars you can always spot like an oversized exhaust, the interior looks like its not stock at all, its sat lower than a stock model would, even at the front there's usually a fairly obvious inlet. This is for me the best true sleeper car I've seen so far. Amazing work!
Love the car, but please use seat belt
Yes...he doesnt use the one thing Volvo invented and introduced..the seatbelt...but he got wiser in the end at high speed😂
@15:06 Seat belt bro...
I added the firewall strut braces to my 240 and it made a huge difference. I think you missed out on that opportunity to be honest. I still have love for you....
Not honestly sure if it'll fit anymore, but I'll give it a shot!
The quality of content lately has been so good. 👌 so excited for more builds, camping, track days etc.
I wish I could be part of this environment where you meet with all the other guys. Amazing result from all your hard work, it is unbeliveable what you have created.
Just join some Facebook/Instagram car groups and go to meets.
@@delta-tuning Hard when you live in a country thousands of KM's away lol
@@atteblo3303 Not really, most places have even small car meets. I got friends in the middle of Norway that still have meets within like 100 miles
You win the award for Sleeper. Never seen a better one.
Classic gingium dogs t-shirt. I would buy that in a heartbeat. Epic video, epic Volvo.
Noted :)
No one gonna talk about his comment was made 6 days ago when the vid came 2 days ago???

Make sure your brake master cylinder does not have any preload on it.
If it's even slightly depressed, it blocks off the return so then when your brakes heat up from driving, the fluid expands applying the brake which then expands more from the brake being applied while driving etc etc etc... And you get massive brake drag until the wheels lock up.
The quality of builds every since you got this new shop has been insane. The fabrication is on point and I love it so much! Great work dude please keep it up!
Brilliant work, we swedes love to see You guys at the other side of the pond, breath life into old volvos,The ultimate sleeper - me like !!😁
The amount of quality in the build but also in the video and montage is astonishing. Keep up the good work Caleb !
Thank you so much!

@@_Gingium_ Bro your build is awsome. I own volvo s80 and planning to convert 2014 volvo s80 d4 into electric 4wheel drive with 800+hp. Won't be very fast, but will exelerate crazy like a sonic!
Quite fitting to focus on that ambulance during a video where you were driving an untested 1000hp car without a seatbelt on..
Now that the coils aren't mounted to the valve covers, this gives you a great opportunity to get custom valve covers that have "Volvo" in the oem font on them
The reactions are priceless. Gotta love a good sleeper build.
As a volvo 245 turbo owner, i approve of this brick

In all my years as a car guy this is by far the BEST sleeper i have ever seen. I have never seen this much power in an absolut stock looking car. Also its a Volvo, this makes it even better. Good job!
wait til you see my hellcat swapped solstice. should’ve documented the build and made a youtube series out of it but i just didn’t. haha, bought a 16’ hellcat for the donor, and threw it in an 07’ solstice convertible 😂 it’s insane. 760 hp with the cold air intake, exhaust and tune👍👍
i might as well start a channel making content with the car. i’ve only taken it to two meets so far, considering i just finished the build a month ago, and working in the oil field has me working all the time and when i’m not, im tired as a motherf*cker 😂😂 but everyone who seen the car loves it, and it’s a sleeper because i keep the valves closed when im feeling conspicuous and have everyone shook when the whine starts screaming 😂 oh also, i got a lower pulley kit coming in, it’s smaller 😂
Loved the BO1 flashbang transition at the beginning
Loving the attention this build is getting. I find that single bolt hose clamps are much easier and do a better job than spring clamps. When I am sealing threaded fittings in my house I use a plumbers thread sealant but when I am working on vehicles I will use an anaerobic sealant or an automotive high heat thread sealant.
I have a friend who drives similar Volvo, stock version, 750.000km and still going strong. Very good cars those old Volvos.
I always wanted to put a v8 in my 88 244 GL, so glad people are still doing stuff like this :)

The look on that kid's face when he sees inside the bonnet (hood) is priceless.
Best sleeper I've seen. Low key.

Guessing the brake pedal throw was too short to allow full release of the brake pads so that every time you pumped the brakes it gradually keeping pad pressure on the rotors? Had that happen on my 88 pathfinder after replacing the booster.
Really enjoy watching the problem-solving design and fabrication. Nice job!
Being quiet is the best part of meetings, and for good sleepers
Just a tip:
Adjust the cutting height of the metal blade before cutting. Just a millimeter or two should go all the way through. Otherwise your cutting heads will go dull in no time 👍

Finally glad I found someone that does threads one full turn and a quarter back repeatedly.
Seems like everybody on CZcams just lubes it up and rams it in like an excited teenager!
I Know one thing, it's a great feeling to be back behind the wheel of a Volvo wagon. Thanks for the great video and let your light shine! If the booster goes out there is no fade on pedal after engine is started, if master cylinder is bad there's no pressure on the pedal, or too much. Good luck, a lot of those rubber lines like to blow out and the calipers blow out after being used too much when they are new. But I'm sure you already figured it out, Nice shop!
Your car builds are some of my favorite on CZcams. Where as most guys on here are more so very skilled back yard mechanics, you are an actual fabricator and builder. No disrespect to any of the other guys on YT, but your builds are just next level. Great job!

Well done sir! The way the light reflects off the ginger arms providing ample work light in dark corners…🥕💡
I have an 88 wagon that I've owned for the last 25 years or so. I just keep it going with bailing wire and duct tape. Great to see this brick getting the love and respect it deserves.
I hope you're enjoying yourself brother. Smile a bit, Pat yourself on the back. What an achievement! What a car... Clearly ready for the next project, or a break, very hard to tell ... ❤️
What a build 😍 congrats Gingium!
When I was a kid there were tons of these old Volvos floating around. Hand me downs, from parents who couldn't kill the thing in the 20 years or so they drove it. Most of them got junked, they never stopped running, the interiors just dissolved in the sun.
Coil pack relocation looks great ,
Talk about the ultimate sleeper, i was here laughing while you backed that out thinking about it having 1000 HP 😂😂😂
i have just recently got more into cars and im obsessed with this series man always excited to see whats next
I had a 242 V8 (Chevy 350 / 700r4) back in 2000. It had 28mm IPD front and rear swaybars. Good times...
Nice sleeper❤❤❤greetings from Gothenburg Sweden Volvos home town
When I become an engineer I’m gonna get a 740 Volvo and turn into a monster of a car just like you did Gingium!
This fab sleeper has the bonus of having the best visibility all round ! - Great stuff !
Funny how it sounds like my old Volvo 240 I had back in '88, when it had a bad exhaust pipe... and had an amazing B21 engine with 87HP.. that probably had 40 (or less of those HP's left) ;)
so nice having all the resources and tools, so empowering!
I'm liking this video, 100% different then the old blue miata days. It's been a year or 2 since I last seen a video from ya, glad to see your still going hard.

Granny Volvo content back at it again, can't wait to hear and see a full pull. Thing's sounds rowdyy
The beautiful thing about old Volvos is that even though they are slow, you learn to love them that way because they are some of the most reliable and easy to work on vehicals on the planet. Now your Volvo is not special anymore, but it is just like any other sleeper.
Sick work homie 🤘

These wagons are amazing for turning into monsters. I know a guy up in Washinton who did it all the time just to break them, and do it again.
Stellar build! But no seatbelt - not cool, man!
gingium, this is the first video ive watched since the green lifted miata video, (2017?) and my god the memories, glad to see you're still around
Careful dumping hot metal shavings in the trash like that one slow burn and everything you worked for is gone the next morning maybe its not that hot but from the video it looked like it could have been dangerous.
That’s actually a really good point I never thought about. Thank you 🙏
Yep angle grinders transfer heat into the workpiece, but metal saws send all the heat into the chips. Makes for a better result!
Similar thing happened at the shop where I work! Co-worker had been welding one day, somehow a spark must have made it into a nearby trash barrel! We closed up at 5-6pm and everything was good. Thankfully the boss came out late that night to check stuff and the shop was completely full of smoke and the trash barrel was smoldering! Thankfully he caught it before it went to flames!
Definitely something to be careful with!

Nice build man, great job!
been watching you wince you were doing crew videos at like 1k subs, insane how far youve come man and congrats on finishing the volvo!!!
I know you're going for the sleeper look and I really dig it. That said, back when I had my 245 and worked on it, by far the best two handling mods were the smaller Volvo R steering wheel and Sparco R100 front seats. Nothing too flashy, but gave the car _such_ a tighter feel. Awesome project though!
When I see this level of professionalism, I immediately wonder why someone from nascar hasn’t seen this guy and put him on the payroll. He’s not just ur average mechanic.
This build warms my swedish heart, kudos!
If somebody pulled up to a meet in that I would be baffled & incredible impressed. Such a great build!!! Time to destroy some tires.

Great job guys. Checkout a boost activated valve for the exhaust, makes the loud/quiet mode automatic. Cheers from Australia.
I’ve been intrigued by this concept for years but my vision goes one step further. Volvo made a chopped version of this car in coupe form. The leather interior is fantastic. Chopping the back by adding it to a factory chop coupe would be easy peasy. Go for the entire package.
THats so cool ! Your a master mechanic for sure !
