Yatto-sa! Yatto yatto! If you enjoyed this video, don't forget to hit that like button, leave a comment, and share it with your friends☺Thank you!!
🐰Sorry we couldn't show every ren in the video. If you have a favorite ren, let me know in the comments!
🐰For the paid stages and some other stages, you'll need a ticket. But there are plenty of spots where you can enjoy without one! Just a heads up, the Soh-Odori (Group Finale) is exclusive to the paid stages.
🐰Heard that the 200,000 yen ticket gets you a comfy sofa seat, some insights, and a meal made from local ingredients.
🐰Due to the typhoon's impact, the Awaodori on the next day, August 15th, has been fully canceled.
Beautiful. Truth.
A YATTO SA YATTO SA !!
I love Japan; the history, the culture, the festivals, the music, the food.
Amazing! I could listen all day. It's like the heart beat of Japan. Fast at times, slow at other times.
After finding your channel, I've been watching all your videos. We'll see how long it takes me!
Japan has some of the best displays of culture in the world, I think.
This was wonderful! Thank you!❤
Excellent participation by all, a lot of energy and smiling faces😊
Thanks for braving the inclement weather to share this with the world. Yatto-sa! Yatto yatto!
Wow, this was a great watch. Nice camera work. The festival was spectacular. I'm impressed by the narrow staging area accommodating all those performers. Very nice👍
Thank you for this video. Amazing mix of culture and tradition. Impressed by their willingness to continue even in that downpour...it was like "the show must go on!" I will try to see it in person next year.
I can imagine if you practice hard all year, you don't take NO for an answer! RESPECT
What a wonderful festival. It celebrates their culture and it's a finest experience to watch and see 😊
Thank you for enjoying it with us!☺️
Awa Odori is Japan's most famous summer festival, attracting more than a million spectators each year. People in Tokushima practice all year long for this festival. This year, the festival was unfortunately hit by a typhoon.
What a rich tableau of joy, happiness and celebration. Thank you for taking us along to see more fascinating aspects of your culture 😊🙏🏿
A phenomenal display of dance and music. It resembles ballet but served in a folk version. Amazing.
beautiful and fun dancing! put a smile on my face to see people having fun. thank you for sharing!
So awesome. Exciting and beautiful. Please do more 🤙🏼🏵️💚🌸💕💮🌺
Incredible! Like this heavy rain, both performers and audiences are dancing and watching without caring the rain. Salute to you all.
When I was very young (5) my grandparents took me to dance festivals. Dressed up as the dancers and danced. It was fun, but I really wanted the snacks. Takoyaki was a favorite. Thank you enjoyed.
I started watching Awaodori videos about a year ago. Thank you for your CC explanation. The costumes and smiles are beautiful!
Thanks so much for the images. Utterly beautiful! And i love a rainy day!
Wow. Amazing 👏 👏👏👏👏👏 love the dancer's ❤❤❤❤ especially loved the ladies in pink, how do they balance themselves on those shoe's is just amazing 👏 👏👏👏👏👏👏 beautiful festival
Thanks for the sharing. Great shows!
What a wonderful festival! Even in the rain, everyone's dancing and performing was amazing.
Bravo 🙌! Great explanations and descriptions of the different groups. Thank you for sharing.
Absolutely 🪭 fantastic! We from UK 🇬🇧 this is so very unique and really enjoyed this performance and dancing. We have booked a vacation next year to Japan and are very excited!!! Thank you for your great videos 🙏
Agora sim entendi o significado desse festival. Assisti a vários vídeos mas sem entender. Obrigado por compartilhar. Saudações São Paulo - Brasil.
I was lucky enough to live in Tokushima for 2 years and attended the festival both summers. Very different experiences with sweltering clear weather the first year and to=ential rains the second. Although everyone was soaked to the bones, there was no dampening of spirits. Although one must buy tickets to watch the professional teams, there is plenty to watch h on the streets, and bystanders are encouraged to join in. For months before the actual festival, practice can be heard every evening
I've watched a lot of Awaodori dance festival videos, and I'm still impressed.
This is absolutely stunning. Bless you for braving the rain and those cheerful women dancing in the torrential downpour. Lifting your camera during the finale to capture the image of 1000 dancers was very appreciated. The commentary with cultural notes, you have simply outdone yourself. I do not know if the captions are the work of Mrs or Mr Time to Travel but they are superb and it's so nice to have a context to help understand. But for all this praise, there's one thing missing: why are Mrs and Mr Time to Travel not in the celebrity dance ren? 😊
So great!!!! Thanks for film this video
Thanks for this interesting video about japanese culture. 😊
Suuuuugoooooi
I heared about this awaodori. Thank you for giving the thrill of virtually seeing it ^^
Wow, respect to the performers AND the audience for performing and staying to watch them in the rain. In Australia it would have been cancelled. 🤦♀️
How cool! I like how the performers walking by were waving to the camera at the end 😂
The festival was so beautiful with the dance ❤
Would be better without the influencer dance, though.
Thank you for watching🥰
@@its_time_to_travel You're welcome!
Thank you so much for sharing such beautiful festival. I hope one day I will have a chance to see it myself. It's on my list or a future trip to Japan in Summer.
Thank you so much for your work. The dancers and musicians are brilliant!
Espectacular el festival Matsuri 2023...Gracias desde Buenos Aires.☺
Always find this channel fascinating showing the culture of Japan. Thank you for sharing this with the world.
That was pretty cool, never heard of it before, but glad I found this video and saw this wonderful tradition, glad to see cultures treasuring and celebrating their heritage.
@user-up2vz9ik3w🤨 It's filtered and safe. It's also very below the amount China dumps from it's several nuclear plants and ALSO unlike China, it actually follows global standards and regulations. This is so unrelated to this beautiful video. Are you Chinese? 🙄
@user-up2vz9ik3wOh, you're a bot. RIP.
It looks so fun! I suppose Japan is a little more subdued in crowd participation at such things, but i wonder if some Ren encourage watchers to chant with them? I can't help smiling as I watch. 😊
I’m not sure but I think they do….. sorry if I am wrong.
Weather condition is not good this year.
There’s so many Dance Matsuri during the OBON ( the most important family events of the year. )
Yes, there are groups that invite participants to dance along! ☺️ You can even borrow costumes or get taught the dance steps. This Awa Dance in Tokushima is among the more prestigious festivals in Japan, so there are many attendees who prefer to just watch. However, for more casual Bon dance festivals, anyone is welcome to join and dance. Thank you🥰🥰
You guys really know how to party! That’s a lot of fun!
Wonderful to see this - in spite of the rain! After completing the Shikoku henro pilgrimage this Spring, I spent a few days in Tokushima and visited the Awaodori Museum and saw Awaodori dancers in the park (on another rainy day!)
Their performance are so unique and beautiful. Good from a tourist in Malaysia.
So amazing! Beautiful
wow they really good combining the color for the clothes, all looks beautiful
Such wonderful and ancient dances! With grace and reverence for their ancestors!
ANA: Hold my beer. 9:03
Absolutely amaaaaazing 👏
absolutely love it..
Soo cool , I want to go someday !
Looks fun!
Can you imagine how uncomfortable it must be to dance wearing geta on your toes?
Many years ago, the women in one ren started dancing with their hands high above and on tip toes, and some people (men? Haha😂), found it appealing, so now all the groups dance like this😂😅
That's beautiful
If Niwaka ren were to perform in the Paid Performance area. I have nothing to do but to join in the dance. I wanna experience that someday.
I passed through Tokushima once in the off season(back when we rode mastodons) and seeing this festival is on my bucket list. It looks like a ton of fun. Don't they have a saying about how joining the dance is better than watching? Truth.
Thank you for your comment! It's great to hear that seeing the festival is on your bucket list. Yes, there's a saying in Japan: 'Odoru aho ni miru aho; onaji aho nara odoranya son son,' which means 'Those who dance are fools, and those who watch are fools; if both are fools, you might as well dance.'😆
Thank you for this experience that I would not have had if not for You Tube and, in particular, the It's Time to Travel.
wow performing even in the pouring rain! poor souls. Thanks you to all the performers and for sharing their hard work and talents.
The festival is fun
Amazing!! You can see Mr. Miyagi from KARATE KID at 22:45
OMG!! Thanks for this. One of the ladies in Gojahei this year is a member of Sakurazaka46 (Japanese idol group).
Great culture, thank you all hard work.
I’m glad you chose that thumbnail❤
Beautiful ❤

I was born on Dec. 5, 1941, two days before the attack on Pearl Harbor so for me there are two Japans. I prefer this one. Make dance not war.
