I used a uk double knit wool. I made one dress using the dk with the suggested hook size and I did another using a 4mm uk hook and there wasn't a lot in it. They both fit 0 onwards. They both look lovely. I thought id let people know, because I find it difficult where I live to get aran which is the equivalent of the super saver yarn in the UK, where I live there is an abundance of uk dk. ;)
Thats not true. I tried too , the dress is too small for baby with the smaler hook. Just of the reason your comment I tried and confused

I love this pattern! I posted a pic on Facebook of my first stab at this, based on this tutorial only. For that one, the highlight color yarn I had on hand was not as soft as the yarn I used for the body, so the collar looked a little bit like a choirboy's ruff, but that's OK. I"m now doing another in Caron Simply Soft off white, using the same color for hems and collar and making the skirt longer, so that it will be like a christening dress. I'll post a pic of that on FB when it's done.
