I finally spent the 15 minutes, pulled the sender out, fine scotchbright on the sender surface wiped the deposit layer off the contacts - done, best 15 minutes ever spent - the tire is the only thing in the way - it's super simple and 80K miles later it's still working perfect. zero dollars spent.

I had this problem once. It happened after I topped tank off as full as I could get it. After about a week of normal driving, the problem went away. I am assuming that in my case, there was the sulphur build up on the sending unit some where at or above the full mark, where the normal contstant up and down movement of parts does not happen. (I usually fill up to just above 3/4 tank) I am not picky about the fuel I use, except that I do always go with the highest octane available. ALL of the fuels do contain detergents. So by going to a specific brand over another is kind of silly. Shell and other name brand gas stations such as chevron are a big rip off. All gas these days is a big rip off. i go with the cheapest I can find, that has the high octane grade.
I have a late model year 2003, with the ffs rpo code. I have the latest c5 fuel system, with a lot of the components in the fuel tank. Also am at 250,000 miles.

Lena and Alex had always dreamed of exploring Europe together, and they decided to do it in style by driving their brand new Chevrolet Z06 sports car. They were excited to hit the open road and see everything the continent had to offer.
Their adventure started in Spain, where they explored the vibrant city of Barcelona and the stunning beaches of the Costa Brava. From there, they drove through the Pyrenees Mountains and into France, where they visited the famous wine regions of Bordeaux and Burgundy.
However, their dream road trip quickly turned into a nightmare when they realized that their fuel gauge was broken. They had filled up the tank before leaving Spain, but they had no way of knowing how much fuel they had left.
Their first breakdown happened in the middle of the French countryside. They were cruising along a winding road when the engine suddenly sputtered and died. They coasted to a stop on the side of the road and realized they were out of gas.
Lena and Alex tried to remain positive as they walked to the nearest town to get some fuel. They refilled the tank and got back on the road, but they were now acutely aware of the limitations of their car.
Over the next few days, they experienced the same scenario repeatedly. They got stranded on the side of the road six times due to their broken fuel gauge. They had to walk for miles to find fuel and sometimes even had to wait hours for help to arrive.
Despite the setbacks, Lena and Alex refused to let their dream road trip be ruined. They met new people, saw amazing sights, and had unforgettable experiences. They visited the stunning beaches of the French Riviera, explored the ancient ruins of Rome, and danced the night away in a Berlin nightclub.
Finally, after six breakdowns, they made it to their last destination, Amsterdam. They were exhausted and their car had seen better days, but they had completed their epic road trip across Europe.
Lena and Alex learned a valuable lesson on their adventure: sometimes the journey is just as important as the destination. They realized that setbacks and challenges can be overcome with a positive attitude and a determination to enjoy the ride. They would never forget their trip, broken fuel gauge and all.

I have had this problem on my '04 (135k miles) for about a year now. Fill the tank up full, gauge goes to empty, warnings come on. It almost clears up by the time I get home, which is a 5 mile drive, and starts getting closer to reading full the further I drive. If it is not working correctly by the time the car is parked, it seems to be pretty close and will the next time I drive it. It works perfectly fine after that until the next fill up. On a long trip it was pretty consistent in working normally after driving about 13miles. If I only fill the tank up about 2/3 I do not have the problem. I have tried the techron method, but that did not help. As much as I like everything working correctly, the little inconvenience of not seeing the gauge read full and have warnings come on is not worth the price of a fuel pump and sending unit replacement. Am interested in hearing about the computer update...

Anyway, if that carbon gets polluted by repeatedly getting soaked with gas, it will stop venting correctly. Hi, I have a C5 (01 Convertible) and I too live in VA. (Near Winchester) I do little things on it, but since I moved here I have been looking for a trustworthy, good Corvette mechanic. Are you near to me and if so, do you know anyone?
    Thanks!

Dude, I'm over halfway thru the video, and no action! All talk. I'm here because I thought you were going to show how to remove the fuel senders and pump.....😢

Jack up the rear of the car. Remove the drivers side rear tire. You now have full access to the sending unit which causes the issue. 3 bolts. Pull it out. Take some parts cleaner & a green scrub pad to the slide sensor. Your problem will be fixed for 4-6 months. Or you can replace it (same steps). However, 60% of C5 have this issue. It's not the part itself (98% of the time). It's the lousy detergents that are placed in gas these days. Run techron every 2 months and the problem is solved. If after 4 treatments of techron the gauge has not corrected itself you may have a faulty sending unit. It's simply sulfur buildup. That its.

Video is TOTALLY useless for worn senders. Not only that, by the time you buy and use 10 bottles of Techron, you could've bought BOTH senders new!! 3 bolts to remove your sending unit??! Not on my 2000!!!! There are 6 bolts on BOTH L and R sides. Techron is good stuff. But if it doesn't help after 3 or 4 bottles, time for new senders. An in depth how to on replacing them seems to be made of Unicorn teeth......🤯

@US2A Because I'm too busy fixing a LOT of things on my car, and don't post videos on any media. I posted pics, and dozens of posts on the Corvette Forum on how to do this. This video is useless to someone who wants to tackle the job.....
