    good point! The difference is huge! I think that is a really important issue for mtb. The only thing is that in those trails sometimes you get low light and shades and there is when hypersmooth doesn't work properly. To me, the only weak point of the electronic stabilization. Thank you!

    Bro this is rad! I haven’t used the boost mode cause it’s been way too cropped, but yours looks good! I’ve been using the chin mount because I prefer the angle, but this is now a great option if I don’t feel like wearing the full face.

  • @r3gflm916
    @r3gflm916 Před 4 lety +1

    You never mentioned the distortion that's happening at the handle bars with Boost on. As the software stabilizes the background it just has to let the handlebar foreground distort Did you not notice it? Definitely worth talking about in a feature review.

    • @mtbsavant5414
      @mtbsavant5414  Před 4 lety

      To be fair the handlebars were moving a LOT more violently on the boost footage since that clip was taken on the same trail but riding a race carbon hardtail. Considering how shaky it felt riding that bike vs what the footage looks like I'm honestly impressed. However If you must have the absolute best and stable footage obviously a physical gimbal is the way to go. My channel mostly uses POV footage for B roll so this is more than sufficient for my needs, with minimum hassle. I do think with better lighting the results will be even better.

  • @ianw3811
    @ianw3811 Před 4 lety +1

    The bars and stem look jittery in the frame, I think that’s the hyper smooth trying to smooth things out digitally, including the handlebar movement. This is why I prefer a gimbal, more hassle to ride with but much better video quality. Digital stabilisation is insanely good these days with hypersmooth, but I’m guessing it’ll still take many years to fully match the level of gimbals.

    • @mtbsavant5414
      @mtbsavant5414  Před 4 lety

      Considering the boost footage was taken in darker lighting and riding a carbon hardtail I'm pretty blown away. Yeah I've used a gimbal for over 3 yrs and we're "close enough" where I might be ready to ditch mine.

    • @ianw3811
      @ianw3811 Před 4 lety

      @@mtbsavant5414 For sure. It blew my mind when I first saw the release of Hypersmooth. Although not perfectly matched to gimbals (yet), I think it's worth ditching it considering the significant weight and bulk it saves. Anyways, awesome quality video as always 👍🏻

    Hi everyone, I have a problem with my Gopro Hero 8, I ride MTB and I mounted it with a Chestmount. The settings were 4k 30fps hypersmooth Boost in Superview (i tested the beta firmware) and the bitrate was on high. I am currently still using the included memory card from GoPro (Sandisk Extrem 32GB). The videos I shot on a trail which is not so extreme in my opinion are not usable. Do you have any idea what could be the reason? Thanks a lot. Best regards Dominik

    So here's what I'm noticing: Hypersmooth boost is way smoother, but seems to lose focus and attention to detail in certain bumpy sections. I just don't like it as much. Yes it's smoother, but lacks the focus. Maybe it'll improve, who knows?

    • @mtbsavant5414
      @mtbsavant5414  Před 4 lety

      One thing I didn't mention is that the boost footage was taken on a race carbon hardtail bike, and considering how it rattled my teeth I was honestly pretty blown away with the stabilization. Further testing needs to be done on a FS bike and improved lighting conditions.

    • @SurikatMeerkat
      @SurikatMeerkat Před 4 lety

      @@mtbsavant5414 Okay yeah that'll probably add to that effect. But I am slightly worried about how it loses focus. Same thing happens when you watch a professional racer like Cathro below's footage. They're going so fast that even the focus point on the camera becomes a bit blurry.
