    I purchased a BMW X5 2005 e53 4.8is 98k on the clock and I have had it converted to run on LPG and it's so much better, no loss of power or performance, I've tinted the windows on the rear, new battery, new ignition coils, 4 new tyres, new rear lamps, new xtrons head unit, new id4motion instrument cluster (£1200), serviced the front and rear diffs, new steering components, new automatic transmission fluid and filter, engine oil change and filter, new air filter and cabin filter, new front and rear wipers, next on the list are new upgraded headlights, new or refurbish the alloy wheels. Atm I'm getting the original instrument cluster refurbished. These X5 4.8iS V8s are much sought after, rare and will only increase in value, and I've just ordered a lanogard treatment for the chassis. My car is a keeper!

    This is an amazing outcome! Welcome to the 4.6iS fun! Throw a mechanical 88c tstat in to keep the coolant, engine oil and gearbox temps down. That should keep the coolant temps at 90-95c max since these M62s run stock temps of 105-110c...

      88c tstat which I believe is from the 740d which may be more expensive for us in the US. This will leave a DME for the internal tstat sensor no longer being used, but will not make the CEL light up.

      So you guys should do a video on the oil timing chain tensioner. That little booger bugs the heck out of me. when they get weak I wonder what would happen putting a TIG weld bead across the tip of it to extend it just a bit?. Maybe I don't fully understand the system but seems like they could have done something better.

    What oil did you use? Have experienced with zf6 that they are really picky about the oil you use. Have seen few trans to just burn through the clutches because they didn’t use oem oil. I don’t know what causes it but it has been proven that oem oil is the way to go. Don’t know if it is a thing with zf5 thou

    • @ZeroTo60Tube

      Its a penrite oil, however the name is Multi ATF, which sounds concerning. It meets the specifications for the ZF5 so it should be sweet. Penrite are generally pretty good with oil guides. I actually use the Penrite BMV in my ZF6 and its been running strong at my power levels.

    OK, pan was dropped and it is full of crap....so, did you flush the cooler lines and cooler? This is the first thing that should be done when you have a contaminated box. I cannot remember you mentioning this in the three videos thus far? Didi I miss this?

    • @ZeroTo60Tube
      @ZeroTo60Tube  Před 3 lety

      I did not flush the heat exchanger, oil did run out of the lines as the exchanger sits higher than the lines when you drop the the trans. Still need to flush the system, now it seems to be working well. There wont be much if anything left in the heat exchanger, they are very small compared to a proper trans cooler. There was still old oil in the torque converter so do need to do the flush asap.
