    Humid air penetrates cane or everything faster than liquid water. If you feel a need to add moisture, breathe on it in the mouth for a minute don't waste time wetting it. Short term reed stability comes after cycles of expansion against binding/staple and relaxation when drying. Crisp tone and easy response requires smooth regular interior curve so reed closes all at once in a microsecond, then opens as abruptly all across. Resurfacing interior curve on wide cylinder fine sandpaper works wondrs.

    Thanks for posting these. They are really helpful. One question that I have is what does one do if the balance between the low and high A is off in a new reed? My low A, for example, is in tune, but the high A is pretty significantly flat. Any suggestions? Thanks...
