@@peteandurnot yeah its just an fun movie and I love it and i didnt watch any modern movie in years to give an idea modern movies for the most part just suck if you aks me. thats way more important to me an movie needs to be fun to watch thats the whole point and thats sadly mostly forgotten

In a lot of shots you can see that the driver playing the bandit is a heavier build man back from when the movie was gonna be 'smokey is the bandit' a dropped origial version where Buford was gonna be both the bandit and himself in some sort of multi-personality type deal. This concept was dropped as test audiences were very confused about what was going on. There is one image online of Jackie Gleason dressed as the bandit. But that and the stunt driver here is the only visual evidence left of this concept
I honestly don’t mind this movie, its far from how good the first two were but in places it’s so stupid i can’t help but laugh plus Jackie Gleason is hilarious as usual
It occurs to me that I have driven most of these models over the years; the T/A was a lump, how many of those LeMans cop cars did they kill (and they too were godawful), the only one slightly worth having (if someone checked the right option boxes) were those old Nova's (with the biggest motor, and stiff springs they could 100 ALL DAY).
Can't see good films like this anymore. Hollywood is just full of remake crap this days. Thank goodness they haven't tried to remake this i bet it would so suck.
My brother worked for gm pontiac dealer all the cars to universal were delivered thru there there was 5 trans ams and 7 bonivilles as I recall the trans ams were all crossfire 5.0 base seats nothing fancy besides black gold color combinations
The one in the movie used for close ups has the leather seats instead of the PMD cloth buckets seen on KITT in Knight Rider. During the Burt cameo you can see them well I wonder if any mods were done to the cars because the '83 Trans Am only had like 160 HP and weren't as fast as the movie made them seem When the car spins around in front of the kid on the ATV you can see some sort of aftermarket headers or exhaust under the car
They really put the third car through a lot of punishment compare to the first 2. This one started blue and by the time is blown up is like gray, hue, and black in the back.
Before the 6:10 mark and scene earlier when the tow truck has the car Buford should've just explained to the lady that he is a Sheriff more like a officer seeing how impounding involves the police and law enforcement. If he had explained it this whole looney scenario wouldn't happen.
every movie they update the trans am so it doesn't lose its a popularity and will keep the name fresh in everyone's mind that Pontiac can still make great performing cars I hope this answers your question

S&TB 1 was the best in the franchise..2 was watchable but it wasn't that good..3 was just a piss poor effort to keep it going and Jerry Reed never fit Burt Reynolds boots..the film was crap and the car didn't fit the film either, they should have just scrapped the whole film..

You do realize Hollywood has been doing remakes, sequels and remasters as early as the 1920s...? Almost nothing in Hollywood has ever been original.

It's not The Bandit. They couldn't get Reynolds back so the plot was Cletus "Snowman" Snow filling in for him
