Pulling check engine codes on 86 S10

This is another project on the property for the moment, with the intent to sell ASAP. This 1986 Chevrolet truck has a few Engine codes in the computer, so I decided to demonstrate how to access those codes. This process applies only to earlier cars and trucks, 1995 and older, as they have the OBD1 computers.

On these systems you also put the jumper wire in and start it so you can adjust the base timing without the computers control, atleast on the cars with this system and distributors.
If you still have this and are stumped on any issues with it, feel free to run them by me. I have the same truck with the 2.5 four cylinder engine and have been all over it.

I cannot get my truck to start. It was backfiring, missing, running incredibly rough, then stalled. That was a month ago, it has not ran since. I replaced the fuel injector, the ACI, the ECM in the distributor, and the MAP. I can only get it to kind of start with starting fluid. What am I missing? I'm still getting a code 12, which I had before all this, but I also had a code 42. Tell me where to go now, please.

My check engine light is only on when Idling. How do I scan without the check engine light on? Per the video you cant.

thanks dude for the video. one day I took my 92 s10 to AutoZone .yea we check codes .they hevered asked for what and he checked and sayed can't do it. it was shell shocked old ob1 trucks still live

OK question Bud is it just two ports over or one port over I've got the first all right I'm just not sure if I need to jump over another port or if I'm in the right one right next to the power port

listen very carefully run the vid over, real hard to do, but it is the two upper right pins
