One of the most well written Shippuden's arcs for me. It had everything: quality animation and fight, realistic powers and Shikamaru greatness.

@@oliverbrooke2937 Ino can transmit her mind into other beings she sees. She flew into the mind of an eagle, and because of that, she was able to quickly locate Kakuzu and Hidan.

Just keep in mind that Kakashi's Sharingan was rapidly consuming his chakra while he was doing all of this.
Also says something about Kakuzu's skill and experience, holding his own against a prodigy like Kakashi (who has the Sharingan on top of that) in hand to hand combat.
@@alpha-sama Kakuzu's a 91 year old man in the body of a 30 year old. He exponentially had the edge over Kakashi in experience and likely encountered Sharingan weilders several times in his glory days. Him keeping up with Kakashi is a feat in itself but not as impressive as Kakashi keeping up with him.

This arc was the peak of Shippuden in terms of strategy, it has a balance of taijutsu and proper use of ninjutsu , they don't just spam an OP jutsu to over power an immortal also rasen shuriken is a double edge sword during this arc....if only Boruto can bring back this type of fighting

I think hidan and kakuzu were probably the best duo from the akatsuki because of how well they benefited from each other abilities! One of the better arcs of all of naruto!

@@do7160 Considering that Kakashi was a last-minute surprise addition to this mission, Shikamaru wouldn't have possibly planned to take on 2 akatsukis with no help from Ino and Chouji right? The only useful attack that Chouji did was the spinning spike boulder but Kakuzu countered it with hardening. It is hard to believe that Shikamaru, who normally has 200 contingency plans, would have planned to get into this fight without assigning some work to his teammates.

I loved this animation and this scene in general with Shikimaru being clever in the beginning. And in the end as well, not only does shikimaru pull a fast one by punching hidan but secretly doing it for the jutsu to be complete, it goes to show how he was really willing to risk it all for Asuma since he probably knew damn well if that failed he would have been chopped in half, I love the importance of it since he went for such a risky route when shikimaru usually plays it safe, it also shows how hes grown taking more risky routes. thats just my rant lol.

Shippuden had both masterful animation style and choreography. Whoever hates on this art style (and the same one which is used in Pain v. Naruto) needs to understand that it allows for a much more fluid, and overall more immersive combat experience for anyone watching.
This tiny little skirmish here is, to me, a perfect, immediate little summarization of why this is such a great show. If someone ever said “Quick, pick a random clip from your favorite anime that might make someone want to give it a try.” I’d always say this one.
I loved so much this arc. One of my favorites.

if hidan and kakuzu weren't recalled by pain after killing asuma, they would have all died during that fight. It was plot armor that saved them.
2:11 Geniuses can still learn from guys with less intellect, Shikamaru learned from Naruto that you sometimes need to be bold and ballsy to make your strategies work.
Thank god Kakashi tagged along, they didn't stand a chance without him.

Kakashi is such a goat for facing off against somebody who attempred to assassinate the first hokage. And Shikamaru always goated for always finding a way to get somebody in his Shadow Possession

Keep in mind that Kakashi’s sharingan was draining his chakra and he had to protect two other ninjas while going head to head with Kakuzu who has 90 years of experience.

Because of power scaling, Naruto’s rasensuriken and people talking about Itachi or Guy, etc, etc. Can we acknowledge that Kishimoto has never let Kakashi finish a fight so we always have trouble definitively placing him on who he can beat or not. Like people still put him behind part one Orochimaru and Itachi because he was afraid or lost to them, HOWEVER in this arc he fought 2 akatsuki members AT THE SAME TIME, while protecting Ino and Choji (granted Hidan is the weakest and Kakazu is in the middle but ALL akatsuki members are low to high kage level because of their odd sets of skills or powers)

Naruto may not have been perfect, but to me the series had one of the most deep and complex power/combat systems in anime: what I call "the shinobi triangle". 1. Chakra-based combat. Chakra is unbelievably versatile, it can be used for attacks of all ranges and given elemental releases to suit the situation, and can even be used for non-physical combat, like clones, genjutsu (sensory illusions) and detecting the chakra of enemies. 2. Physical combat. Taijutsu (martial arts) and bukijutsu (weapon combat) can be tweaked to the preferences of the individual fighter, who can even infuse their attacks with chakra if required. With the bonus of fuinjutsu (sealing jutsu), which can store just about anything within special markings, each shinobi can have as many weapons as they need at the ready, even a whole army's worth. 3. Tactics and strategies. Probably the most important of the three as it ties everything together. The previous two aspects are so versatile and tweakable to the individual shinobi, he or she can gain whatever advantage needed in battle with the right training, knowledge, preparation and planning. However, not every shinobi has Kage-level fighting prowess and experience-which is why in most of the franchise, we see shinobi operate in teams. Knowing each member's strengths and weaknesses, a team of ninja can dominate the battlefield more than individually fighting shinobi. They are able to cover each other's backs and combine their various fields of expertise to create battle tactics, which can take down even the strongest opponents if done correctly. Even in the controversial final battle of the War Arc, as well as the Kaguya Arc, this basic "shinobi triangle" was never forgotten-even if the series lost its gritty, down-to-earth charm from before.
