    One of the few reviews of this Hobbytrain set. The quality of the models is exquisite. Bear in mind that weight and roll resistance of these coaches is at the extreme end of the spectrum an you’ll need a very powerful engine to move these. I think inclines will be a severe challenge for these cars. Otherwise unsurpassed. To my knowledge the same manufacturer as LS Models (considered by some as the best Orient Express models).

    Rey, Since it’s Simplon Orient Express and it started in 1919 from Paris via Dijon, Lussanne,Brig , Milano , Venice, [ Triest, Lubliana,Zagreb,Vinkovci, Belgrade, Sofia , Istanbul ] any French , Swiss , Italian Pacific or Mikado locomotive will be OK but no German locomotives SOE never run through Germany or Austria like Original Orient Express did .

    Great video and Mr. REY is so personally enjoying himself really loves the trains. I have a question...Did the real Orient Express switch their leased engines at the Country state lines ? If so this gives train runners fun practice on model layouts with freelancers who model multiple countries.

      Oh yes so the locomotives would be exchanged at the border stations. Keep in mind there were many different routes, the Orient Express from Paris to Istanbul had a crazy time table, click link below to view

    Willy Geysens ( Belgium ) I am a abolute fan of this Simplon trainset . My childern and grandchildern has bought me for Christmas and my forthcoming birthday these 2 sets . My question is : which French or Italian locomotive is the best suited for this train ( no German locomotive as the Simplon did not crossed through Germany in the early days ). A collegue has a REE Modeles 231 but it cannot even pull 1 carriage of this set . Please advice me

    • @ReynauldsEuroImports
      @ReynauldsEuroImports  Před 3 lety

      Dear Willy French, Swiss or Italian locomotives would work fine. It is hard to believe that the 231 can not pull one carriage. We have hooked up the 231s on our layouts and they have no problem pulling many carriages. Maybe there is something wrong with your friends class 231. A Trix class 241 would also be nice.
