It's intersting to think that the Gods of Olympus actually sealed their own fate. They captured Deimos to avoid the oracle's prediction of their downfall, which caused Kratos to imitate his brother's birth mark and become the actual marked warrior. They created their own threat by trying to avoid it. Amazing !

I like Kratos as a character because he is a deconstruction of the Greek heroes of mythology: Kratos does look like a Greek hero; Strong, powerful, handsome and skilled with weaponry, beloved by his hometown. Unfortunately, those same qualities gave Kratos an extremely big ego, enormous bloodthirstiness and sense of entitlement. In Greek mythology, heroism was measured by strength and power, not by morality. Hercules, Achilles and even Oedipus had this might makes right mindset. Overall, Kratos shows how Greek heroes would be in real life: Violent sociopaths with a massive sense of entitlement who would murder anyone who looks at them funny.

it's all about the prophecy that Zeus will be killed by the marked warrior. you see Ares knew about the prophecy, has an ambition to claim his Father's throne, then so he took an opportunity to make it happen so he manipulated Deimos and trained him like Kratos that's why he's got so ripped. if you played the god of war ascension there is also another marked warrior which is the biological son of Ares, unfortunately He and Deimos are considered failed marked warriors because the true marked warrior who would kill Zeus is Kratos. The prophecy said that the child with red marks and having the name Kratos will be the reason for the fall of Olympus. But Ares took the kid with red marks(Deimos).

God all of these games are just amazing there story was just so ahead of its time
I think the most bitter reality of reinventing this series is that, even though the reinvention is amazing, the original series was also incredible. GOW 3, I maintain, is still one of the greatest action games of all time. I hope they remaster the trilogy so people don't forget about just how good it was with the release of Ragnorak.
I found it very interesting how Ragnarok made such a big theme out of fate, so I came back to this vid just to check on his backstory again. It's not that I didn't know, but I forgot about the oracle. Fate and his recklessness was instrumental to his character.
I think a remaster would be great for people who haven't played these games to get some context...

Great game series. I enjoyed playing all of God of war games. I enjoyed the entire storyline right from the first game all the way to the current one.
As far as story line is concerned , I got to learn the best one cuz I played the 1st ones on ps , but I haven't played any of the games after that, but I'd really like to. Those PS games were good though.

The Oracle was one of the Furies in disguise. She has the same war amulet as the fury in ascension and in ascension she tells Kratos that they were not there by chance while she’s in the Oracle form.
Odds are, the Fury tricked Kratos’ wife to go to that town far away from sparta with their daughter. There’s no other way for the chief spartan general’s wife to be away from home. She has a target on her back. She’s also smart enough to know not to disobey the olympians- lest, say, Athena give her husband a curse. So ofc she went. There’s no way she would’ve known. Ares and the Furies set this shit up. There’s no way Kratos would’ve purposely killed his family. He just knew that Ares commanded him to kill everyone in the town, except the oracle, as usual

I love how the GoW franchise played on the prophecies, how trying to prevent the prophecy instead made it come true, like the mark of the god slayer and Baldur being the first god to die and his mother places a curse that makes him invincible in exchange for all senses, he would proceed to die killed by kratos because he went insane with all senses deprived from him
