Whenever I listen to "Kwilamba Ekwesu" music, I get reminded of my former workmates, John Jairos Nyangu Phiri, Frank Kolala Chipulu, Emmanuel Mwaba, late Matthew Kachali (MHSRIEP), late John Nkhoma (MHSRIEP), Ronnie Romero and Orlie Bermudez ( both from the Philippines 🇵🇭) and many more in the Geological Drawing Office (Room 10) at the then Central Offices of the Nkana Division of former Z.C.C.M. Ltd. Ooh!! What a great time we had together ❤. I really miss you gentlemen. May The Almighty God be with you and bless you all wherever you may be by now. Thank you.

simataa mario I just want to remind you that your comment is still fresh. You have said it all. Same to my mum, she loved the mulemena songs, real substance of these songs when mum gave me its meaning.
You also forgot to say that it was during this period that HIV/AIDS was killing our relatives and friends seriously threatening to decimate this generation. There were no life saving drugs like ARVs.
❤ Wow! Bringings back a bunch of recollections. The sole surviving member of this renown group galavants/swingings by Town center with a guitar. You give him money,he plays & sings for you.
Kwilamba e kwesu - Our land Lambaland nakufuli imfumu - has many chiefs Lists the names of chief by name Exhorts his tribes men to grow more food to get rid of poverty Then say I am now full, so let me dance Mention different types of dances which are found in the area - Manchancha, Shonongo, Kaonge e.t.c The alarm sound is the portion you dance as if there are no bones in your body - B
I cannot understand the language but with interpretation it really make sense , I used to listen to this kind of music long ago when I was teenager boy. Im a proud african

It takes me back to the time my mother worked in the rich neighbourhood, she was a checkout lady. It’s a nostalgic moment listening to this music as it reminds me of all the memories that may have inadvertently occupy the back seat.
I was doing standard 5 at Ngweze primary at Katima Mulilo and I used to dance to this song over weekends especially when I visited my auntie at Lisikili. The likes of Vincent Mushitu and Sabino Solo entertained us during weekends at the town. The Zambians music taught us how to us how to shack our waists, steps and movement in original rumba dance.
Those beautiful days when tarvens and bars were order of the day, heading to kitwe breweries to buy bulk chibuku beer in drums sealed with plastic and rubber bands called hijab.and the jams in the van were awesome 👍😎
I once mentioned that Lamba is so similar to Bemba especially that Bembas and Lambas all came from the Luba-Lunda Kingdom of present day Congo DRC. I was insulted by most Lambas and I didn't understand why... Later came to realize that they feel the Bembas took over Copperbelt from them and imposed the Bemba language. Mine was a very honest observation based on what I understand from Lamba. This song is just an example. I understand everything from this song but I am Bemba
Beautiful songs from the good old past. These songs remind me of the beautiful past when the world was a far much better place than the shithole it is today.
Someone there....please post Emmanuel Mulemena's 'Mary'. It reminds me of an couple I used to stay with in Kabwata when I was a little boy. The hubby would always play it when his wife threatened to 'pack and go'
Simply a hit in the 21st Century though was composed and produced in 1980s. Singing about the chiefs of the lambaland in the Copperbelt province of Zambia where Lamba language is spoken.
kwi lamba ekwesu......... dont know what it says but dad would play it on the gold star tape (90 minutes). if it snapped or get caught in a cassette player we would carefully rejoin it with celloptape. Them days dey.
From 1975 to 2024. Still enjoying the music 🎵🎵🎵🎵
