- In today's video, we will explore the watch brand of Vostok Europe. Vostok Europe produces bold watches with a style different than other brands. Instantly recognizable, the watches use a variety of complex case and dial constructions to make a product that is sure to be a welcome addition to any collection.
Not to be mistaken with Vostok watches, Vostok Europe watches come from Vilnius, in the country of Lithuania. Born in 2004, Island Watch was actually the first vendor in the United States to carry the watches. We are proud to feature them again, and their collection of quartz and automatic watches that are unlike any other watch that is on the market.

These are some of the coolest looking watches I've ever seen! Like something Nikola Tesla might have rocked on New Years Eve 1899! "It runs off the Earth's electromagnetic field"....."so you never have to wind."
Great review Marc! Greetings from Vilnius, Lithuania!
Ahh, a local!
great job Mark, glad you showed this brand!
Thank you for checking it out.
I like the 'brand review' videos. really good idea Marc
Thanks, I'm trying to bring everything to the masses, even though it doesn't get the view through like the "S" brand.
It was great of you to bring out the construction and depth. Those are very hard to see in photos. I would buy one if they were smaller. Thanks Marc!
Thanks! They are quite amazing machines.
I love my radio room from this company. You should have shared one of this. I feel it is their best watch and comes in many color combinations.
Hi Marc,I've nearly finished watching your back catalogue of vids and I've thoroughly enjoyed them. You would make a great teacher ! because you make them really interesting.I would be interested to know your views on the Orient star retrograde because I'm seriously thinking about purchasing one.cheers.
Thanks so much.
This is cool. I'll be honest and I had never heard of this brand and their watches. Interesting designs and functional. Thanks for this video and your efforts, Marc!
Thanks for watching.
Long Island Watch You're welcome!
The machination in that 2nd watch is bloody amazing.
"maybe you need to do something else with your time." I loved that comment!
:)
It is about time no pun intended

Hey Marc ... great video and nice watches! Can you do a video with the Anchar dive watch? Would be cool to see the line-up of VE dive watches. Thanks!
Hmmmm, good idea, I have another video idea brewing. . .
Hi from England. Great vid any chance you could give some info on the Alamaz 6SII-320H521. Daron
I bought an N1 Rocket quartz from them many years ago (i think it was 6, maybe 8 years). I banged that thing into doors, walls, you name it. Survived like a champ. Really good and beautiful watch. I have recently bought a Gaz quartz as well. Beautiful and refined. I personally think they make some of the best looking watches on the market, at amazing prices.
Yes, built quite well, thank you!
Thanks for the video. Could you do a video showing some of the Touchmeister dive watches in your store.
I believe I've shown a couple; will consider it again.
Tritium illumination itself is pretty fascinating. I've had it on several watches over the years. It will be interesting to hear your explanation of how it works. It's basically an isotope of hydrogen known as hydrogen-3 and it has quite a few uses ranging from scientific research to nuclear weapons to little phosphor coated tube lamps in gun sights and watches.
Thank you, I will do a video on it in the future.
"If you are hanging out with watch people maybe you need to do something else with your time!"!!! Best comment on CZcams!
LOL, thanks! I say it tongue in cheek :)
Great review, just like many of your other reviews. However, it would be nice to see the watch worn above the wrist bone instead of below it if possible.
Same issue there great looking there very tactile but there mechanical issues... can I buy them at US dollar price I got mine from ideal world tv shopping and I think I got ripped off.. but with are exchange rate I'd buy a couple more... great presentation loads of information
Have you gotten the watch vostok europe with the hellenic navy or the hellenic navy seals (ΟΥΚ) limited edition?
Have purchased two new and immediately had to send in for work. Mechanical problems. Quality control issues?
Awesome watches Marc!
Thanks.
Liking the Vostocks, was unaware of the Russian and European difference. I have been looking for a Vostock, now I know you carry them.
Thank you.
another great preview Marc, you must put a lot of your time and energy into making these and I just want you to know it is appreciated especially the watch and learns.i think you would make a fantastic teacher had you not chosen engineering. 👍
Thanks so much! I appreciate it.
Hi Marc, I recently purcashed my first automatic watch. A seiko 5. the glossy black dial with white arabic numerals and a red second hand. Ive been having the issue of the watch instead of going from tue to wed its going to the tue in the second language. Any tips?
Yes, this is normal. The flip to 2nd language happens between midnight and 3am. It is normal.
Thanks you so much. :)
Didn't they use automatic Vostok based movements, with some design and functional changes ? I bought it from Island Watches back in '05, a VE Rocket N1 with dual time (GMT) function, and it uses a Vostok caliber. Nowadays I know they use quartz and NH35 auto Seiko sourced calibers.
Indeed they did in the beginning.
@Nuno MC ..and they still do use Vostok movements on some VE's.. it's just another branch [besides Chaykin, Buyalov, Amfibia, and Komandirskie-automatic] of the same Russian brand that's dedicated specifically for the Western market.
Clock design is taking place in Lithuania and the development and modification of mechanisms in Chistopol city, Russia.
Best wTch channel!
Thank you.
Best video covering more details on timepieces I’ve found on line !!
Thank you.
Hi Marc, on the video you did on vostoc Europe,I could not see the trinium in the dark on my side.
Yeah, it is dim and tough to pickup.
Very beautiful watches! What is the brightest ever tritium watch you've ever handled? Do they make anything brighter than the T-25's?
T-100 is the largest. I believe that is limited by the NRC.
Ah! I see. Is the limitation due to health hazards?
Hey, great review - now I just can't decide which one I want.
Lunokhod-2 perpetual!! Same movement as the Gaz Limo Alltimer he reviewed but in a more, let's say, robust presentation!! It's a professional dive watch instead of a dress up watch like the Gaz.
@@Robbie1075 That is a heck of a watch. I have one of their "compact" 43mm North Pole Expedition and that is unfortunately as big of a watch I can wear on my 7.25" wrist.
Really interesting, thanks. Does the world time cover odd time zones, like India which has a 30 minute offset from the geographical time?
Just hour increments.
Long Island Watch. Thanks. I need something that'll show me European and Indian time. Guess I'll rig it up with my current watch, has a Seiko 7T62 movement and I can offset the alarm dial for it. I never use the alarm.
I need these in my life. A new favorite brand
Great!
Will you be selling the vostok Europe lunokhod again soon I would really love to purchase it from you as I have bought from you before and was happy with your online store
I'm not sure if you have mentioned it, the world time traveler watch, was that one automatic? if yes I will add it to my watch watch list. Thank you.
It's quartz.
Yes, it is quartz. In an auto, I couldn't even fathom the cost.
They're all a bit big for me but definitely nice looking watches. Thanks for the video! I have an unrelated question. Any idea what happened to Citizen Promaster Automatic watches(NY0040 series)? Why have they become so scarce and any guess whether they will be returning to the market in regular quantities and price?
Nothing yet; like Seiko, Citizen doesn't exactly announce their lower end manufacturing plans to the world; even though we all want to know!
Mark, what is the model number of the world time one. I don’t see it in your LIW website.
Check description of video.
What is the connection to and difference from Meranom - I know they are on Meranons website - are they part of Meranon? Are they designed to be higher end pieces for Meranom... kind of like Grand Seiko to Seiko?
Meranom is a selling company of Dmitry Buyalov - senior designer at Vostok watch company in Russia.
Vostok Europe - is another company, created with some assistance from Vostok, but then goes their own way. Vostok Europe is located in Lithuania. Anyway, there is no blocking issue to sell VE via Meranom by Buyalov. Also, I would like to recommend to take a look at the Buyalov's own watches, called Buyalov Radioroom. RR 2 Akula takes Top 3 of Russian watches contest of 2020.
hi is there a dive watch with a case diameter more than 45mm thats around $200 to $300?
ice balansay how big are your wrists????
ice balansay I have Seiko Baby Tuna Srp637, it's over 47mm.
7 1/2 inches
go a bit more and check out the Marathon JSAR
I have a seiko sportura. Absolute beast of a watch.
Should be call Vostclocks they are so big. I have A Raketa alarm clock that's the same size. Maybe I should take the legs and bells off it and strap it to my wrist. It has a Raketa 2609 wrist watch movement inside. So quiet.
I am not a big guy but I don't want to wear a watch less the 43mm. They just look like ladies watches to me and I just got the Vostok Europe North Pole-1 quartz. Perfect just perfect.
How you take apart a Vostok Europe Explorer N1. I have one and i need to change the crystal, regulate the movement speed, fix the dial (it is loose) and fix the chapter ring.
Will you be bringing the vostok watches back on your store? I tried shopping for some on your store but you don't have any
Sick
considering my 4.5 inch wrist, I could knock someone out with this piece :D
4.5"????? Holy smallness!
Vanessa Mercedes - You're badass enough to pull it off.
I wish you still sold them.
Hi Mark
by the way marc!! I dont know if you know the tv show "bobs burger's". The wife character has your accent, but she is voiced by a guy and I just love it! I always think of you when she talks. It is just so lovely! "oaff" hahha
LOL, never heard of it. It's called a "Long Island" accent in these here parts!
Vanessa Mercedes lol now I can't watch Linda Belcher without thinking of Mark and watches.
Good observation! Yes! I can hear a similarity.
You say they have nothng to do with Russian Vostok brand, but wiki says:
In 2004, Vostok Watch Makers began supplying movements to the Koliz Company of Lithuania, makers of the Vostok Europe brand of timepieces.
Also Lithuanian wiki says that Vostok Europe is a joint company of Russian Vostok and Kolz in Lithuani (although wiki may be worng, but still it has some business relations as opposed to "nothing to do")
Of course in general sure, that is a separate company
Are you still selling the first watch you showed?
Like you I like the blue chronograph just way way too big
Yes, a shame!
The moment I saw that on screen I thought "I hope that is small enough". I have already determined that Marc and I have the same blue watch weakness. I probably have a big enough wrist for it ( 8.25" ), but at my age it just feels weird to wear anything that big. I grew up wearing 34mm, and 43 is the biggest thing I own today.
@9:11 that Vostok has enough depth to be a snow globe
Crazy, isn't it?
ForbinColossus - Speaking of snow globe.........
they are so freaking big
Mark my favorite color is blue a nice deep blue sun burst I’ve noticed you love the blue as well just saying
at 1:49 it is said "my unga-chaka-mungra watch today"'. Since this discovery my sleep has lost me trying to decipher this message sent to us by an unknown god thru Mark... "The Messenger". Since the dulling of CZcams by demonetization, it is refreshing to see a video that has dilated my pupils. As a side note Mark, by any chance, do you have a spare Orient Agent watch laying around that you might want to let go?
LOL; sorry, no.
Europe's Invicta
Isn't invicta from Europe?
Why did you stop carrying these watches?
Thanks for the video......Call me old fashioned but I just much prefer the Russian Vostoks, which are unique and have personality....These European Vostoks fall into a generic look of so many modern watches in my opinion....Somehow souless whilst at the same time being far more expensive.
Marc doesn't sell the ve watches anymore. Because they are badly made with too many returns.
People complaining and sending them back.
Check out the Rudge Horology, review of the Russian vostocks, they are awesome £100! Future classics..these are £1000,seiko movement, made in Lithuania, over priced..in my opinion...seriously check out the rudge history
how much does saphire glass cost to manufacturrers? Couple bucks more than mineral?
When watches like 170 usd orient kamasu has saphire glass, there is no excuse for 600 usd watches to not have a saphire glass...
You don't wear a watch in Russia, the watch wears you.
I like the black one though
Expired category on the website now. Oh well.
but you didnt put them on wrist :*(
Three of them I did!
Long Island Watch :)
Vostok Europe manage to be far more expensive than they look .Not easy in 2018
Rather have 3 real Vostoks personally
Vostok Europe is just another branch of the _'real'_ Vostok, just that it's meant for the westerners.. xD [Clock design is taking place in Lithuania and the development and modification of mechanisms in Chistopol city, Russia].
There are also Chaykin, Buyalov, Amfibia, and Komandirskie-automatic.. but yeah, the Classic Amphibians are my favorites as well ..just ordered a Neptun 960761B (with gilt ring - modded) on a leather strap.. can't wait ))
The way I see Vostok Europe is they had a good idea and some good design, the whole military inspired watches, the whole soviet tech... it's an idea. But along the road I believe they lost it, they made the watches bigger, more colorful, stopped using russian movements, which are shit let's be real, they made everything bigger, brighter and to me that makes them shit right now. And an expensive shit, about 1000$ for a basic seiko movement, a mineral glass and some tritium, it's way to much, also chinese made. At that price point you can buy swiss made automatic with sapphire and that beautiful timeless design. To me VE watches have the wow factor the first week (or month, or 10 minutes, depends) and then you realise they just look cheap, like a better made Invicta.
Not made in China. They're made in Lithuania.
@@GretschenMunch yeah sure
I own a Vostok Europe Lunokhod
Big mistake, too thick, too heavy, too big, not very functional if you wear it every days, and material not very strong.
There is one Vostok only and it's from Russia!!!
Why are they so big and clunky..?
Ugly and ostentatious. The Japanese watches the movements come from are far better ergonomically and the faces
far clearer (when you are diving in
seas around the UK)
A screwed on plate back with a
Helium valve?!! 😄
Watches are getting way too big. Invicta is a serious offender in this group. MASSIVE!
Shame on you
That's a very questionable brand. They only exist because of the chaos in post-USSR brand space. Many brands have a number of companies in Russia claiming to be "the one, original, true successor" (almost all are actually not). Now branding a watch slightly different to the original USSR brand is not much better than Chinese "abibas" shoes and "Lefi's" jeans in my book. Imagine someone starting a watch company and calling it Longines South...
Vostok Europe was created as a partnership with the original Vostok manufacturer, so they don't steal the brand actually.
Hi,
You know more about watches, than currencies!!!!
A US dollar is less worth than a euro. This has always been so the case.
BEAR THAT IN YOUR LITTLE MIND!!!!!
I just hate it when people correct me, when they are DEAD WRONG:
EUR vs. USD Rate HistoryEUR/USD exchange rate history starts when the Euro was first issued in January 1999. It opened at 1.1795, although the rate then fell considerably in value. By the time the new currency began circulating within much of Europe in 2002, the pair was only 0.8907, after having fallen as low as 0.8225 in October of 2000.
ROTFL! Moral of the story: Don't try correct an engineer unless you have extensive detail and data.
One of the ugliest watch brands in my opinion.
