    Tony and Cecilia, you are the best! We are about to spend 2.5 weeks in Madrid and Portugal (our first time) and you have helped in the planning every step of the way. We make notes on each of your videos and very much appreciate all you do. We have reviewed several other content makers on Spain and Portugal, and YOU ARE THE BEST. Looking forward to our trip.

    Hello, from Downunder! My first journey to Europe will start coming Wednesday- this will be 30 days of journey in Spain only. I believe that your channel is a very special Easter gift for me -Now I am booking trains, printing out physical tickets while listening all your comments and advice, which I have been looking for, but have never been found. I have been so worried about pickpockets only but completely forgot how nice many Spanish are living there; but you helped me to remember that, again (yes, still I would be careful with scam and pickpockets). I feel like your advice is very sincere and truly coming from neutral heart and wisdom rather than just a bit being useful; I believe that this is a true value of your videos, which we cannot find from any other channel. Thank you very much, again.

    If you’re set on using public transport with large luggage in Spain, I’d highly recommend the Aerobuses! I took it in both Madrid & Barcelona and it was an excellent option - there’s plenty of space for large luggage, it’s only used by travelers to the airport so less chance of running into pickpockets, and all luggage is kept onboard the bus so it’s easy to keep an eye on your suitcases. I saw many people with huge suitcases use it with no issues, and it’s much less of a hassle than dealing with the subway with luggage

      Yes, although you can't discard the presence of pickpockets in the shuttle buses, specially when they're absolutely packed, the ticket cost acts as a deterrent. But you need to pay 100% attention in the queue when boarding. 99% of passengers have no issues, whichever the transport. We want our followers to be in that 99%.

    Thank you so much Tony!! You have just given me perspective and also an answer to this same question i was asking myself! Especially your last sentence....about the cost impact of hiring a taxi on our already strained budget being totally worth it as opposed to the impact of the inconvenience of public transportation and/or of getting robbed! People like me take particular pride in saving money wherever possible, but no, you make perfect sense! So yes, taxi its going to be! Thank you so much for this gem of a video!

    Hi, I came across your channel and enjoyed viewing your videos. Thank you so much for this short one. I have seen many other videos regarding the increase in pickpocketers in Madrid. It's very disheartening, but I believe it's happening everywhere in Western Europe and should not deter anyone from visiting such a beautiful country. We will be there in October for 5 weeks and looking forward to being back. Thank you!

      Hi Helen, the presence of pickpockets is part of the reality of tourism in the 21st century - a very unwelcome fact. Yes, you're right, it's happening everywhere, wherever there are tourists, there will be pickpockets. Have a superb trip!

    We book an executive car to transfer to our hotel in Barcelona. I can find them for under $60, yes more than a taxi but I like the comfort and size. If all you have is a backpack and a carry-on, trains and busses are inexpensive but I am exhausted from the flight since I can't afford business or first class so a large private car is wonderful to us. Plus being 6'4" the taxis are too small

    • @ROADTRIPSpainandPortugal
      @ROADTRIPSpainandPortugal  Před 12 dny

      We've never seen the need to book a transfer in Barcelona, but everyone should to as they see fit. Barcelona taxi fleet has a huge number of vans that fit up to 8 passengers.

    Great tips. People just need to stay aware of their surroundings to reduce the risk of getting robbed. We just came back from a month in the States and of course my wife had a huge suitcase. We used Cercanias from the airport to Atocha and she would have had a difficult time getting on and off the trains with it had she been on her own. Taxis are 30 Euros between the airport and Madrid Centro. Not the cheapest option, but it simplifies things making it worth the money.

    Whilst I fully agree with your basic recommendations here. We did recently use the metro from Barcelona BCN. However we knew our hotel was very close to a metro station, with 1 change. It was a quieter time, early afternoon. Also there was 4 of us so safety in numbers. Lastly we also had padlocks on everything as a deterrent. Accepted could still,suffer knife slashing of bags. Regards Alan

      @ROADTRIPSpainandPortugal  Před 10 měsíci +1

      Hi Alan, of course if you are careful and aware of the risks you can take the train, metro or bus, we made that clear on the video. It's all about statistics. Only a tiny percentage of travelers will be victims of pickpockets. Our work here is to spread awareness and make sure our viewers stay within the group travelers that enjoy an incident-free holiday. All the best!

    We will be traveling from one city to another by train (Madrid to Toledo, Toledo to Seville, Seville to Granada). Any companies you can recommend or suggest to avoid? Thank you VERY much!!!!

    ¡Hola Tony y Cecilia!
    Quick question:
    Do you know if train stations have storage lockers (cabin rolling bag size)?
    Specifically Figueres.
    We will be leaving Barcelona to enjoy the Dalí Museum and spend the evening in Girona.
    Or do you know if the Dalí Museum will store our bags?

    • @gailnelmes1098
      @gailnelmes1098 Před 10 měsíci +1

      We were recently in Malaga and the luggage lockers were in a place 1 street away from the train station. As we got there, 2 distressed people with lots of luggage were leaving, not able to leave their things there as none of their 4 cards worked in the pay machine. Knowing that, we tried going online and paying that way, which worked for us... so just be aware of that as a payment option.

      @ROADTRIPSpainandPortugal  Před 10 měsíci +1

      Hi Mary, see our short video about lockers at stations: czcams.com/users/shortsZMG9oEBWcIo You would have to look for a private locker, and in a small city like Figueres we don't know of any.
