    My wife and I have the 2019 model..fitted radiator guard,crash bars,bark buster,power outlet,Tom Tom sat navigation but mounted on the handlebars powered direct to the battery as never leave on the bike.the accessory bars is used for the phone via quad lock with vibration damper. Fitted a tank bag and use throw overs panniers when touring. 3 years in don’t know what would replace it with very happy. Going on holiday in Europe and will be hiring two 2023 models to see if we should upgrade.good fuel economy and decent range.lots of bikes appeal bigger engine but smaller fuel tanks I guess need to keep the weight down would like cruise control on our next bikes.ride safe and enjoy Malcolm and Diana Australia.ex pats.

      Glad to hear of your love for the bike. I rode the 2019 version some years back and it always stuck with me that I really ought to get one and stop wasting money on flashy stuff that doesn’t do much more for 2x the money. Hopefully mine will last as long as yours. I don’t think you’ll notice too much difference. In a way I prefer right way up forks as they need less maintenance, at least in my experience. You made the right move, cold, damp, grey here today - ride safe 👍

    Nice one, Codger.
    I picked mine up just yesterday, also got around 150km on it, still pretty chilly around here.
    First thing I also did was raising the screen, but since I am 190cm tall, I still get some windbuffeting but raising it def made a difference. Not sure whether I'll get a bigger screen or some sort of extension as you mentioned, but I think I might just get used to it :)
    Not doing much of a motorway anyway.
    Ordered a radiator guard as well, was thinking of maybe DIY something to protect the oil filter as well, but I like how you sorted that out with the wee mudguard extender, might get one.
    Enjoy the bike man, it's a nice nippy little thing, can't wait to reach the 500km mark, or maybe 1k after the first service to finaly hit the revlimiter :D
    Stay safe, greetings from Bavaria!

    I’ve brought a Puig touring screen which is about 10cm taller than OEM screen which for me hasn’t made a great deal of difference to the buffering so I added a cheap wind deflector which I don’t like as I think it looks ridiculously huge so now I’ve fitted a WRS small screen which acts just like a nose screen so the wind blast is more like a naked bike which is more comfortable on long days out..overall very pleased with the cb500x.

    Good choices, I picked mine up a couple weeks ago and have added similar accessories + Puig crash bars & Scorpion exhaust. I fitted RR mount for GPS but it sits lopsided as there's no way to adjust it (the honda 12mm bar isn't level) so I might have to drill out the holes to allow some adjustments. Still getting used to having less power than I'm used to but having fun out on the country lanes. Enjoy.

      I know what you mean, but I just ride more relaxed. It’s a really good second bike 👍 Weird on the GPS bar. I’m only guessing, but when I took the screen off it looked like the bar is just bolted in there. You might be able to adjust it, not sure as I wasn’t looking for that.

      Hello again. I hope you see this. I do not think your GPS bar is the issue. I fitted a RR mount and it is wonky. The SW-Motech one, on the same bar, is straight. So I think it is the RR mount. With those thick gloves you have there, I'd suggest some Oxford heated grips. The grips are a tad larger in diameter, which tends to help with bins as well. I live north of Seattle, Washington USA. Similar weather. I can ride my DRZ400 down into the low 30's. Fahrenheit that is. With summer gloves. Gets so hot on the high setting, it will nearly burn your hands. Like you have to occasionally take your hands off and hold them in the wind to cool them down. Just an idea for ya.

  • @mickleblade
    @mickleblade Před rokem

    Just to note, engine oil is checked with the bike on the sidestand, not the centre stand. There is usually a difference between the levels, though you could work out the offset. Same thing applies to chain tension.

    • @CodgerBiker
      @CodgerBiker  Před rokem +1

      Are you sure about oil check? Seems unlikely. Most bikes I’ve had you check vertical. User manual says to check oil with bike in ‘upright position on a firm level surface.’ Usually because you get different leans on sidestand, whereas vertical is vertical the world over.

    • @mickleblade
      @mickleblade Před rokem +1

      @@CodgerBiker yes, I'm sure on the oil check. Put it on the sidestand, the observe the level while lifting vertical. Bit awkward. Hi Codger, when I test rode the CB500X I found the wind noise from the screen awful and I come up short (in many mays) at 5’7”. I googled it and found it’s a common problem with lots of suggestions from Palmer mounts to all sorts of different aftermarket screens. I found the same issue with the Tiger Sport 660 screen but the Tiger 850 Sport was much better. With the resources of Honda and their F1 wind tunnel you would expect them to be able to design something better. Once you get it sorted I can see you doing lots of tours with Dr J in the future. 😊

      They are on my list of choices also. If you check out Riding With Campbell Zero One channel, he sings their praises. So I am certain they are fine. My only thoughts are A) depends on type of riding we'll be doing - on this bike for me it is 100% road. It's not a fast accelerating bike, but corners well on good rubber. B) Even on a budget bike I'm minded to never skimp on rubber or brakes. I'm still on the OEM tyres 3000 miles in. Also those Michelin are renowed for big miles without losing performance so may be cheaper in long run👍

    At present I ride a truly classic bike: a Suzuki GS750 from '79, and get a LOT of looks and comments from other riders, and even passers-by in cars. Had the same bike 41 years ago, so, a trip to yesteryear...But...I'm not as strong anymore as all those years ago, this bike is becoming too heavy for me...So, toying with the idea of downsizing, especially weight-wise, this CB500X is almost 45 pounds lighter than the Suzuki...Power wise, I'd say that 47hp is plenty, but.....the question, 9 out of 10 times I drive with my wife on the back seat, how's the power then, when it comes to acceleration, taking over cars on the motor-way...The reason that I'd go for a new, and not an occasion, is the twin disc front brake...already saw a lot of YT movies that showed clearly the braking power of twin discs, as compared to 1 disc. The price is too high for the CBx now the Hornet is here for £7000. Put a screen and bar risers on a hornet and you've got nearly the same thing with double the power and less weight for nearly the same price.
    To be fair, the Hornets price is making a lot of middleweight bikes look stupid right now.

      It won't work. That's why they made the Transalp. I tried a similar exercise with a 790 Duke, but in the end traded in for a 790Adv. The Hornet is great for what it does out of the box. I'm very happy with my choice. Suits me. 👍

    Seems like a much better buy from a real owner than a 10 grand plus transalp that seems to do very little extra for a 3 grand premium unfortunately in CZcamsr land bigger and faster is always better and price is irrelevant when it’s a freebie bike as 20 grand is pocket money apparently now according to some uk CZcamsrs and anyone who thinks this differently is delusional 👍

    • @CodgerBiker
      @CodgerBiker  Před rokem

      Yes there’s a lot of specification on paper reviews, rather than real world usage 👍 I did like the Transalp though, but not it’s inner tubes ☹️

    wouldn’t buy a screen extension if I was you. I had the Givi tall one (about 15cm added) and while it does totally remove pressure on your chest and helmet there’s a ton of buffeting above 100kph, making it unbearable for more than 20 minutes rides… I just replaced the original today…

    • @CodgerBiker
      @CodgerBiker  Před rokem

      It’s always tricky with Adv screens. One thing I’ve learned (the hard way) is buffeting is personal. So many variables between riders, tolerance, body shapes, height, helmet design etc. I’ve found a £10 spoiler from eBay works quite well for me, for now 👍
