If you watch the entire performance, Chet Adkins actually called in and requested that Vince play this song.
Vince is with the Eagles now but check out Pure Prairie League one of his earlier bands
Amy, what you wanna do? I think I could stay with you for a while....👏👏👏
Vince Gill, Keith Urban and Brad Paisley are fantastic guitarist in the country genre and they learned from Roy Clark, Glen Campbell and they learned from Chet Atkins. BRAVO to these country legends.
And they learned from Jerry Reed also.
If you think that is fast and clean - do this on an acoustic guitar at bluegrass tempo. He has a lot of history doing that so a Tele for him is like coming off a gravel road onto the highway. He is a chit kicker from way back.
Vince Gill is Vince Gill in all the true sense of his strings playing dexterity. He is a genius in that department.Vince sings as a vocalist and strut his stuff as an enchanted guitar guru.Vince is awesome in every way..keep on and keeping on.
Our reviewer sits there stunned
Vince Gill, Jerry Reed, Glenn Campbell, Roy Clark and Chet Atkins.
Skaggs, Parnel, Warner, Paisley.
Also, don't forget Mark Knopfler either.
Yep! He’s one of them.
Isn't this guy Phenomenal? Wow!!!!!!!!!🎸
This video was definitely a few years old. If it’s the video I’m thinking of there’s actually a little bit at the beginning where he takes a phone call on stage from Chet Atkins. Who’s been gone for quite a few years now. I think that’s why he says that he’s going to try and pick it like you talk me Because he had actually just spoken to Chet Atkins minutes before he started playing. Matter fact, Chet Atkins was the one who asked him to do this song if I’m not mistaken.
I love Vinces guitar playing, Fast or slow he's always musical! Do a revue on Richard Thompson.
Brad Paisley is a good 🎸 guitarist, back in the 60's and 70's had some great player's too...from Wyoming USA 🇺🇸 🤠
Love the clean tone. Like Dire Strait's Mark Knopfler. v I know Chet influenced Mark Knopfler as well.
You’d probably enjoy Brad Paisley and Keith Urban performing Start A Band.
Love this song and the comment about the clan sound and is hard to hide mistakes. I also like the push pull
......Vince was a session player and also a singer (Pure Prairie League) who did a lot of side gigs before he became a star..... 🤓
He started out pickin & singing bluegrass. 🪕🎻
Keith Urban is also a great but underrated guitarist, took a lot of inspiration from Dire Straits
He actually calls out Chet Atkins(Chester) going into the solo.
In the full video it was Chet who requested the song on a phone call!
Top 5 County players in my book!
I don't understand trying to compare mastery of guitar players in different genres like country, classical, flamenco, jazz, blues, etc. why not just enjoy them and admire their individual skills and creativity? I like the idea of trying to expose guitar fans to different genres. I just love guitar.
Big Man with thick fingers, sure is playing that telly clean.
Vince can smoke any heavy metal shredder hiding behind distortion….yea momma!
When you are the king of the Tele in Nashville. You are the king everywhere. No 2
Brent Mason
If you want a couple of other country guitar players to check out, you should check out Albert Lee and Danny Gatton. As a matter of fact, there’s some video online of the three of them playing together with Gil and Natalia. I don’t know who was the better of the three. I suspect Gaten was slightly more talented, but Lee is probably my favourite guitar player of all time.
Roy Clark : Malagueña or 12th street rag
Some of the best damn pickers wear them old shit kickers.
Have you done Tony Rice yet?
Not yet, send me a link to a good video.
Acoustic bluegrass flat pick player - see ' Clarence White' (RIP x 2))
That Telecaster looks worn. No, wait - those are burn marks!
5:03, this dude looked like he soiled himself.
Cool comment!
Although Glen cut this track many years ago. No denying he was a phenomenal guitarist. Enjoy!

Been a Vince fan for over 30 years now. Next check out Chet Atkins. Then Steve Wariner.
Ps...you talk so fast I cannot understand you 🤷
Is the box within a box really necessary. I find it distracting and redundant. And I’m sure I’m not the only one.
Johnny Hiland and Brent Mason take it a notch higher
Im hearing a lot of Skaggs stuff in these rifts, go back to the 80's and listen to Skaggs lead pickin, you'll know what i mean.
Vince played in Ricky’s band Boone Creek in the ‘70s. They probably traded a lot of tricks.
