This is great, but can we get a deep dive? I'd like to see something on recovery techniques when Skydio disconnects. My frequent problem with the beacon is Skydio gets stuck in trees or something, I loose connection then have to back track to find it and moving the drone to safe landing spot with beacon can be precarious.

The beacon is water proof?
The connection with the phone is passed over too quickly and the "instruction" is somewhere between incomplete and oblique. What I think I found is the beacon has to be connected to the UAS before starting the app on the phone. If not, then the app requires the beacon password which, even when entered, appears to accomplish nothing. However, if the beacon IS connected to the UAS and THEN the app is started, all seems to work well. So, the actual workflow is this: start UAS -> start beacon -> secure connection between UAS and beacon -> start app -> select the beacon on the wifi connection menu -> go back to the app -> start using the beacon to control the UAS. Let me know if this is wrong. This workflow is not covered in this video.

what is UAS?
@@alb5tana Unmanned Aerial System. In this case - the actual Skydio aircraft. So, the workflow looks like this:
Start the Skydio aircraft -> start beacon -> secure connection between the Skydio aircraft and the beacon -> start app -> select the beacon on the wifi connection menu -> go back to the app -> start using the beacon to control the Skydio aircraft.

How do I increase the beacon signal strength to reduce the frequency of the Skydio 2 loosing target?
My skydio2 will not update. It is on 7.0.27 and tells me the software is up to date. I sent skydio emails, I followed their instructions and still nothing. I called and after a long hold, got a message to leave a message. Half way through leaving all the information they wanted, it cut me off. Is everyone else having the same issues? Are there any solutions? Thanks.

can the Skydio 2 connect to the remote controller and the beacon simultaneously? which mean if this fly away, i can control it with the remote easily.
It can, however it uses the WiFi signal from the Beacon, so you won’t get the range you would get with the controller.
Hi Nicole, question, connection order? Should you first turn on Skydio then the beacon and let it connect to Skydio then turn on phone app and connect to beacon? Or open phone app then the beacon? Thanks Dave...
You will want to turn on the drone and beacon, once they are booted up (and paired) you can connect your mobile device to the Beacon’s WiFi.

Someone recommend that I should connect my Skype 2 App to the beacon for better experience and gps or communication stability?
Yes, we suggest that as well. Connecting to the phone not only allows you to acquire satellites more quickly on start-up, but the phone also gives you more tactile control and access to more features and modes.

My beacon won’t update and is stuck on syncing GPS. HELP!
The recently released FAA RID regulations could be interpreted by the FAA to require full-time VLOS between the RPIC and the UAS at all times. Yet, the beacon in, for example, a follow mode set to orbit could. at times, be used to pilot the Skysio 2 behind the RPID and, therefore not in VLOS. Does Skydio still support the beacon being used in such a circumstance? Will the Skydio warrantee be honored in the event a collision occurring in this scenario?

I often want to shoot kids water skiing. I'm on the wave runner pulling them. I'd like to see best practice for take off? (likely on shore in case of "GOTO LAND" is needed? If I take off from beach or water it may return to sand = ( or water landing? So take off from grassing area near by? Track beacon then when I push red land button it will return to grassy area? I likely will be on wave running with beacon and want to tell it to land. (but want it to land were it took off in the grass?) Scared to try and do this as I'm not sure best way.

Unfortunately not from Skydio.com, but you can use a standard waterproof phone case.
An french Friend's buy a Skydio 2, crash it with a small branch in last winter, and Skydio compagny says no waranty cause it's fly and crashed in France...

Hello, I have a request, can you tell me how to take a picture I tried to fly, I do not know how to take a picture can you tell me how to take pictures, thank you.
Tap the camera settings and at the top you should see a button to switch between video and photo.
What are the steps to connect the phone to the beacon?
Once your Beacon is paired and turned on you should be able to connect to the Beacon's wifi with your mobile device via the WiFi menu.
Is there a way to tell that my beacon, cellphone and skydio drone are all connected to each other?
The Beacon WiFI will show up on your phone's wifi settings. If your Beacon has been paired to your drone, then you will connect as soon as your phone is connected to the Beacon's wifi.
I finally received my Skydio 2 yesterday (11/21/2020). I am trying to connect my beacon to my iPhone but both the Beacon reads Connect Phone to Beacon and the phone reads Connect Phone to Beacon. Your video does not show exactly how, which I was hoping it would. Please kindly advise.
Go to your wifi in phone settings (not the Skydio app) and connect to the beacon Wifi.

Two things :
1/ It should be a good Idea to forecast an sort of scenario : first position front for 10s and After second position at right 15 m for 15 s, After 30s of following on back..etc...
2/ When you distribute and import your famous Skydio 2 in Europe ?! Do you have any problem with legislation in Europe ?!!!
What happened between frame 1:26 and 1:27? You didn't show how to connect beacon to phone. Just wondering, because that is the crux of my problem. I cannot connect my iphone to my beacon's wifi.
Connecting the Beacon and Phone is simple, just connect your phone to the Beacon's WiFi once both devices are powered on.

has anyone caught their fingers in the blades doing a hand launch? seems super dangerous. or does it not even break skin? maybe leather gloves?
Do we need the beacon and Controller or just one or the other?? This is the most confusing set up i've ever heard of. Why not make one device do it all, like DJI and others
You do not need both! You can operate with either or, or even just your phone.

If you are using your phone with the Beacon you will need to connect to the Beacon wifi.

Hey Skydio, maybe have the flight school do more than just read us the manuals. I have the manuals and am literate enough to afford $1000 drone. When is something useful coming?

you left out how to connect to your phone

Video says "Connect your beacon to your phone" but then proceeds to NOT show how to do this!?! How about less goofing off in the video trying to be "hip" and simply make a video that shows us how to use the drone?? It shouldn't be this hard, but this is why DJI is kicking your butt!
Connecting the Beacon is easy. Just select the beacon wifi with your phone and it connects.
