    A step by step guide to installing an Over the Range Microwave. This video walks you through the step by step process of removing and installing an over the range microwave. A few notes:
    One mistake I made was to not but in blockers between the microwave and the top cabinet. There was one installed in the middle but I should have put two where the screws were located. The microwave is GE JVM6175SK2SS.
    Also, safety first.
    Times for the different sections are below:
    Removing old Microwave: 0:04
    Setting the Bracket on the Wall and drilling cabinet: 14:32
    Setting the Blower Fan:17:46
    Installing the new microwave: 23:12

    I'm sorry to tell you this but I believe you installed your blower fan backwards. If you look at around the 20 minute mark you'll see that the blower is facing the backwall of your microwave and thus just blowing the air into the backwall where it is trapped. According to the instructions the blower needs to be facing the front of the microwave so air can travel through the tubes at the top and out the top front of the microwave. To check this, just turn on the exhaust fan and see if there is much air coming out of the exhaust port at the top front of the microwave.
    Other than that, this video was great, thanks for the help!

    • @csn6234
      @csn6234 Před 2 měsíci

      No, he wanted it to blow out the back. The wall facing the back of the microwave has a cutout for the exhaust. You can see it around 23:10.

      Hi, thanks very much for your help. I have a Maytag overhead range that just quit on me by a humming sound. I checked the breakers and all was fine. I got some one came and found the bottom half of the plug dead. But the upper half had power. Yet the range would not work. He did some adjustments and the range got power. Then he told me not to turn it on without something in there. He left and my daughter went to use it and it quit again.and he is not coming to fix it again. I spoke with him and he said the transformer might be the problem. I am reaching out to you to see if you have any answer for me. Thanks!

  • @rightsideofthegrass8114

    I just installed a JVM7195. It replaced a 10 year old GE Profile model that was a forerunner. The former one had a single support bar at the bottom, no side rails as your new one. My new support bar/side rail is exactly like this one. My cabinet over the oven does not have a floor. It has a vertical discharge (not rear horizontal like this one), but nothing to support the two bolts you inserted through the cabinet. I used two chains/turnbuckles to attach to the same support points on the oven. I found studs and used a lag bolt to attach a link to the back wall. I hooked the turnbuckle to the link/lag bolt, then ran the chain from the other end of the turnbuckle to the top of the oven. In shrinking the turnbuckle, pulling on the chain, the oven is snugged up to the cabinet. My biggest problem was getting the new oven fitted to the new support bar. I had the range pulled out, but had trouble lifting the oven in to place. (I am 79, not as strong as 10 years ago!). I held the rear of the oven to the wall, front on a 4 ft step ladder. This allowed me a temporary positioning. I then used a ratchet strap to make a sling - one end hooked to the cabinet on one side, the other end hooked to the other side. This allow me some flexibility to get the oven hooked to the support bar. The key was the ratchet strap sling. I share all this, hoping it may help others.
