I was a wildlife rehabber for 10 years. There was a lot of sadness but there's nothing better when a sick or orphaned baby snuggles with you after realizing you are going to take care of it, or gives you some sign or indication when released that he/she thanks you.
It doesn't matter the species. A rescue animal makes THE BEST house pet!!
Very true. I have a rescue animal sleeping on my right leg at the moment. Mine is a dog - so hugs would be more expected... But my rescue chihuahua literally hugs everyone in my family (but hates almost everyone else lol). But that would also make sense, as his previous owners were smacking him, starving him and putting him in plastic bags. We had to pick him up from someone when they had just found him on the streets (as they had a dog allergy), and at the time he was only weighing in at around 3-4lbs. But as we brought him back, he started becoming the soul of my household.
I rescued a 9’ gator bound up in barbed wire. I’m going to go get him and see if he gets along with my dachshunds

2:13 I have seen my neighbor's ducks become euphoric in rain! They'd run outside and swim even in the tiniest of puddles. It was a joy to see them like that. ❤
I'm so happy that today's generation is taking animals into their homes such as chickens, ducks, and squirrels. They are all loving and wonderful pets. Nothing makes me happier than a chicken in my lap. They give back so much. They love you unconditionally. This is such a wonderful example.
I have six chickens a rooster and two ducks. I know exactly what you’re talking about. Sometimes the ducks and get jealous if you pay too much attention to the chickens. It’s hilarious. animals deserve our respect understanding and better attention.
The term Vegan is rising all the time, and that makes you Connect more with animals, we finally have social media to share how much personality all animals have. Its great, slaughtering animals on our level will be history at some point , evolution is happening. It’s a fact we become more compassionate over time, just look back in time.

What a joy to see these images! I had a pet duck too.
I rescued her during a severe rainstorm when she hatched in an abandoned nest. She was a crested duck. Her name was Pipke. She became fourteen years and three months old. She was our garden assistant and also such a great cuddler. She was the best that could happen to me. Unfortunately we had to put her down. That was the hardest decision we had to take. And although she passed away already more than ten years, not a day went by without thinking about her.
When she died .... a part of me died too!

I had a pet duck looking just like Pam when I was a kid. She would jump into your arms when you opened the front door, waited for me in the driveway when I got home from school and was obsessed with my cat (who was less thrilled about the duck that was nearly bigger than him, haha). My mum even made a Donald Duck cape she would wear sometimes. That duck was hands down the best pet ever and I can't wait to one day live somewhere I can have a pet duck again.

No one really knows how loving birds can be until they get one.
My mother before I was born got an African Grey parrot while living in germany. This was in the early 80's before they regulated the capture and selling of wild caught birds. She got talked into the parrot and didn't know that they use their beaks as a third foot. So trying to get him to learn step up on her hand he bit her hard on her arm. So she kept him and talked to but never tried to take him out or anything.
Many many years later when I was older the bird bonded with me and was the most loving bird I've ever had. He learned to step up from me, he learned to come, and he loved to give kisses and cuddle. He was very loving and I count him as one of my babies and miss him everyday.
She is one special duck! She was in such a bad and dark place, her new home and all the love and friendship she now has must feel like duck heaven.
Nothing more satisfying than a sweet duck paired with a very loving mom.
She's a beautiful happy girl. Glad her big brother loves her too.

I have two just like her. They are full of personality and wonderful creatures to have around. Every day I come home from work and I’m greeted by them it’s one of the best parts of the day.
