- Many of you guessed it--we are using our CNC experience and combining it with Jim's carving skill to offer the only carved flintlock kit available. I will get right into the details.
The introductory add-on price is $375. It is an option on the online store or customers can call or email Bree with an order info@kiblerslongrifles.com or 330-551-5844. www.kiblerslongrifles.com
It is only available on the Woodsunner kit and is only available while it is being made (unfortunately, we can't carve stocks once that have been removed from the machine).
We have one design currently available although this will definitely grow and change over time and we will develop new variants. Jim will tweak the design as time goes on. As we come up with new models, Jim will design a carving (or more) for these. You can still get the kit un-carved, although you can't pick and choose elements of the carving that you want or "design your own".

"I just want to make beautiful things that are available to people for a good price in a timely fashion" When asked about his target audience: "Whoever appreciates it." This is a man with his priorities in the right place. Keep on raising the bar, Jim!
Thank you for seeing what we are doing here and appreciating it!
I just retired. My goal is to build one of these for each of our hunters. It may be one at a time, one/yr but that's the goal. I really see these as heirloom quality pieces. Thank you for the time and effort you put into these kits. It will allow me to finish something that our hunters will cherish for decades to come and then hand down.
Thank you so much for your support and business, it is greatly appreciated!
any one else watching the dog haveing fun running around. And jim making a great kit better ❤
I'm glad you enjoyed, thanks for watching!
I just want to say this is a great innovation and the carving pattern is really nice! Keep doing what you are doing!
Really appreciate that, thank you!!
Wow this is really cutting edge muzzleloading kit it truly raises the bar Jim in anyone looking for a fine rifle kit. Thank you for your forward thinking. Keep thinking outside the box.
Thanks for seeing what we are doing here!
happy dogs for sure , the stock is beautiful Mr. Kibler and I own a few cnc mills and have been doing cad for a few decades now so I can appreciate just how much work that was to do ....doesn't matter how you get there what matters is you do :)
thank you very much!
Bravo Jim Kibler! I think this is absolutely awesome! I'm excited about future kits and being a repeat customer 🙌 Very nice! Please keep up the great work!!
Thank you very much!
Absolutely fantastic work and a great idea Jim!
Many thanks!
I like it! Great idea.
But what about a smothbore progress update
I am a retired mold maker and I can certainly appreciate the work that a well programmed CNC machine is able to accomplish! I ordered my rifle today and I am anxiously waiting for it to arrival since it’s my first kit to assemble I opted out of the carving but who knows in the future maybe another one.
thank you for watching!
Gotta tell ya: I put together one of your Mountain Rifles awhile back. Recently, a family member had a devastating loss. I brought him out to my farm and let him shoot the Mountain Rifle (He hit the target dead center) and it was the first time I had seen him smile for a long while. Keep up the great work it has brought a lot of joy to some Guys you will probably never meet.
We are so sorry to hear about your loss but are happy to know that we can be a small part of some healing. Thank you for sharing
Good thing you wore the Optivisor, Jim, or I would not have known it was actually you! 😂 I have been slowly carving on my Woodsrunner and slowly, slowly, it is coming around. First time carving on any gun. Right now I am adding depth to the carvings (having done the borders) but still have to come up with a design for the tang. I am really happy with the fit of everything on this gun. You folks did superb work!
Awesome! Thanks for watching!
Love to see you continuously trying to offer new things. I often recommend your kits for people thinking of building a lovely long rifle as well. And wow Daisy is having a great life running and jumping through that field, couldn't help but laugh several times watching her.
Thank you very much. Daisy sure is living the life!
I think you hit it on the head pointing out that many people had the same reaction to your kits in the first place. But now they are the universal answer whenever someone asks what kit they should buy. I do think a lot of people would be interested in having two or three basic carving arrangements to choose from. One being possibly just the lock molding, and straight lines on the forend, cheek piece and buttstock.
I think it's great. I think what you've done with your kits and now this carving is fantastic. You've innovated the whole kit industry. I can't afford one now but I'm saving my pennies. I steer everyone towards your website and know several people who actually bought kits based on my recommendation. Pardon my French but you're kicking ass. Keep up the great work and thank you.
Thank you. Your kind words and support are greatly appreciated!
Another amazing Kibler breakthrough in the Longrifle world !
Thanks for the support!
Thanks to all Kibler Family that make it possible to have an opportunity to own a Beautiful, Functional, and Historical Correct Rifle.
I was saving up to buy a .32 caliber Southern Mountain Rifle. Now, its going to be a .54 caliber Woodsrunner with the carving option.
I seen on the Fourm a lot about Hand Carved vs CNC. I for one love the old ways, one day I will carve and etch one of my rifles. Right now I do not have the experience, much more practice needed. I cant afford to pay an individual to do it.
20:06 I do not look at you like a Money Hungry Business Man. I see as a Man do what he loves, and being able take care of ,family ,friends, employees, and giving back to the Muzzleloading Community.
I hope you continue to grow your business make profit, because i need time to save $$$ to get My Colonial American, and my Southern Mountain Rifle.
your kind words and support are greatly appreciated!
A product of a great mind - thank you.
Thank you for your kind comment.
Wow! Wow! Wow! That is beautiful i love it ! I just got my woodsrunner couple weeks ago and now I'm going to start saving for this one . I have a colonial 58 from you to it shoots great, and it looks great. You are the best ! This is so exciting! I'm am definitely getting one .
Thank you for your support! I love hearing how happy our products make our customers. This is why we do what we do! Thank you for watching.
I would just like to sit on that log with a cup of coffee looking out over that beautiful scenery there, so peaceful, must be loaded with deer and rabbits, i’m enjoying that as much as seeing the woodwork and your explanation of how it came about and continues to progress.
I just purchased one of your woodrunner carved stock kits, can’t get to it now, but I’m looking forward to working on it this winter sometime.😊
Good day Jim It would be great to see a carved woods runner with finished on it to see the carving stand out in depth
Thanks
That is very cool. Your a talented man. Keep up the good work 👏
thank you very much.
These look fantastic! Nice work!
Glad you like them!
Great work can't wait to see the finished product
There are some preliminary photos on facebook and we will show some more when it's done
Onward and upward! Fantastic company to deal with in my experience.👍🏻
Thank you! That makes me happy to hear.
OKs amazing Jim!! Congratulations sir.
Thank you kindly!
wow this looks so beautiful 😍😍
Thank you!!!
I really like this! You are making really nice rifles that basically anyone can build. Great job Jim!
I'm glad you think so, thanks!
That is very nice, a great option for us too cowardly to carve our own. Your innovations are remarkable, your dedication to producing a wonderful product is appreciated, by me anyway.
Still saving my nickels up, in hopes of eventually getting one. Fixed income living sucks, but thats where I am so, lol. Looking forward to seeing what you come up with for a smoothbore as well!
Thank you so much for watching!
Just another masterpiece from Jim Kibler. The American Cadillac of flintlock long Rifles. My hat's off to you Gunsmith.
Thanks for the kind words!
Very nice! I just finished my American Colonial and will definitely keep an eye on how you progress with this carving. Always room for another Kibler rifle on the wall!
You can't have just one!
The muzzleloading community loves you and your staff. Thank you for providing the average person with a high quality rifle. I for one hope you take over this industry. Good luck .
Thank you very much, you kind words are greatly appreciated!
Well done, young man! I’d love a Fowler with kind of ornamentation.
That's great looking carvings and beautiful designs!
You can't be worried because of what other people think, it's their problem.
Thank you very much!
Great video and very informative. Thank you for taking the time. Trying to decide on a model to purchase. It’s the carving option that is pushing me towards the Woodsrunner.
thanks for watching, glad to hear you enjoyed it!
Who doesn’t like Jim?! Love this new offering. Onward and forward. My colonial is feeling a little self conscious now 😂
Thank you so much for your support!
Wow i have bought 4 of your kits and woodsrunneris great. I might try carving latter but not now. Glad you have a great gun for the working guy.
Wow-thanks for all the business!
Oh wow, this is absolutely stunning! I simply don't anticipate ever developing the skill to do something of this quality on my own, and I'm glad to see this CNC option in a kit stock for folks like me.
I received my Woodsrunner a few weeks ago, but will definitely consider a carved option when (not if) I buy a future model.
Thank you so much!
That carving is beautiful!
Thank you!
Looks great Jim.
Thanks 👍
Super work👍🙂
Thank you!
I just finished my incised carved Woodsrunner this month. It looks fantastic and was very easy to complete. The design and CNC execution of Jim's kits are truly amazing. I also completed a regular Woodsrunner earlier this year. When the fowler is ready, I hope I'm among the first to get that!! For anyone even with modest skills or little experience, don't hesitate to try Kibler kits.
I am happy to hear this, thank you for your support!
I just order my 4th killer the second woods runner ,can’t wait to get the carved one ,plan is to add some wire inlays ,been waiting for this
I think all your guns are beautiful and the carvings are beautiful and and help people that aren't good at carving but like building gun kits that are of a higher class me personally I would love to buy a couple of kits to finish but I like just more of a using high quality gun that I'm not afraid to use
thanks for watching.
Great stuff mate 👍
Thank you! Cheers!
I just finished my Woodsrunner kit. I would have definitely ordered the carved option-There's no way I want to try my hand at carving such a nice piece of wood as this. I'm excited to hear you mention a Fowler-I'll be ordering one as soon as it's available.
Thanks for watching!
The dog have a great time 😀
they are some very happy pups!
I ordered one of these Thursday night received it today! I have to tell it is absolutely gorgeous. Mine is a 50 caliber with a nice piece of maple. I have a question regarding finishing and I did send you guys an email earlier. The stock is flawless I’m going to finish mine with aqua foris. As far as sanding seems like a light sanding is all that is required can you elaborate on finishing it with sand paper steps. I got it 320! All I have to say is beautiful incredible. I’m to old to learn how to carve I really am so pleased with mine. This is just perfect! Forget the naysayers there will always be a place for custom guns. This gives guys like me the chance to have a beautiful rifle! Thank you Jim!!!!
Thank you for your kind words and support, so happy to hear you are pleased with your kit!
Awesome option for those who want a carved rifle but don't have the skill or confidence to do it. Great job!
Thank you for seeing what we are doing and appreciating it!
Very Nice Jim.
Thanks!
I would love to have a Southern mountain squirrel. Rifle with that kind of grave. You know it? I understand that it don't come with that, but it would be a beautiful little rifle. And Jim, you and your wife put out awesome videos. Thank you very much and looking forward to buying a kit off you someday. Thank you From mike in southern illinois.
Wow Jim I can't save a dime, Kibler keeps new designs coming and, there goes my money. Thanks JIm.....AJL
Many thanks!
This woodrunner rifle with carving will be my 3rd rifle from Jim and company. 40 cal,and a 58 cal fowler. Jim , you all do a great job. It's not just the looks ,mine all shoot extremely and I mean extremely well. Which is very important to me. Cpt. Kirk
I'm pleased to hear this, thank you for your support!
I really enjoyed this video. Before I get into muzzleloader comments, I've got to comment on Daisy. We had a big red golden retriever that just loved to run. The dog got loose one day and got into some lower fields that were drained by a series of drainage ditches. You can imagine the mud. The only solution was to tie him up on a very short leash and hose him down before letting him in the house for a thorough bath. But onto the carving, I really think that';s a good idea! I've taught a Kentucky Rifle building class at the local tech college for 10+ years. They were all scratch built guns. I think what you have going now is a good thing. My background is custom metal fabrication. I know and appreciate the power of a good CNC program. Bottom line, you've really got me thinking.
I'm glad you enjoyed the video, thank you for watching!
Looking forward to a simpler relief version, but I think I need both... Also, I'd love your name on the barrel.
A couple very happy dogs. As should be.👍
They are so happy--they come to work together everyday and get to roam around the property
I'm really looking forward to the simpler version. Maybe a partial user finished pattern?
B eautiful! The exclusive group haters do nothing to help the future of the hobby. Their attitude alone ruins it. I don’t have 5 years and 5-7,000.00 either to wait on a rifle. Good on you Jim!!! I am able to enjoy the hobby, with a period correct, high end rifle that I had some part in because of you!!! Thank you!! Your dogs are my favorite part of the video!! Lol
I'm pleased to hear you enjoyed the video, we sure do love our dogs as well! Thank you for watching!
I bet it looks really good with some stain and finish applied!
It does and some people have a difficult time imagining the finished product when seeing bare wood. We have some photos on facebook on an "in-progress" finishing and aging of one of these
I might should have waited. My kit came last week. I think it will turn out good.
Mine too.....but I'll hold out for relief carving on an English fowling piece, maybe I'll have saved enough shekels by the time Jim has that one worked out. If anyone thinks this is too perfect they should remember that one can still build from a board and good chisels are still being sold.
Very nice addition to the woods runner, I have a Woods Runner and love it, I've had many compliments on the rifle, of which the compliments all go to Jim and the crew at Kibler long rifles!
Did I hear Jim say his next kit is a smooth bore fowler or trade gun, anxious to see what it is, I've been studying up and looking at a smooth bore Trade gun for my next BP gun, leaning towards a Fusil De Chase, which to my eyes seems to have similar lines in the butt stock to the Woods Runner??
Thanks for watching. Our Fowler kit will be available in the first quarter of next year!!
Jim, that's very nice ! How will it affect the sanding aspect of the project in other words will you have to stay completely away from the carving ?
I am curious, too.
Answered in the vid. Just didn't go far enough. Beautiful piece. This will be my fourth Kibler rifle. Fun projects. Great kits.
Great work, Jim! Love the design and the technique. Just offhand,, however, how much added machine time does this require? Saving up to order mine! One of these in fancy maple, and a smoothbore in some nice walnut.
Thanks! It's a couple hours of machine time.
I just finished one of your Early American Colonial rifles and absolutely love it.
It's my first time, and I made a couple of very small mistakes, but if I don't point it out, nobody notices it.
This will be my next purchase, but it will be several months down the road
I was wondering if you have considered the possibility of a companion pistol in your line of rifles, it would be great to have a 54-caliber pistol to go with the Colonial rifle.
There will be a pistol down the road--not exactly sure of the details yet. Thanks for support!

Thanks for the reply, I will definitely be looking forward to it.
I'd like to get one of those t-shirts Jim has on!
I will work on getting those back in stock
Looks to me that those are going to be beautiful rifles and I want one. But I think I'll wait to see the simpler carving design to compare. Considering all the effort you've gone to is the price going up?
I will definitely be a repeat customer when a .62 smoothie comes out.
your support is greatly appreciated!
Beautiful design. I have a question on the kit itself. The woodsrunner. What is the brass plate for? Think i have watched all your video's but either missed one or can't figure what it is for. Thanks.
It is a piece included in case someone wanted to make the brass end piece for the box. It's not shaped out but there just in case someone wants it.
@@kiblerjim thank you.
I have a Colonial. Now I guess I will have to have a woods runner. lol
Agreed!
Nice! You just shipped me my kit and can’t wait. I want to do a Fowler next, do u have any plans for a Fowler kit?
Thank you! Stay tuned for the Fowler... we plan to have it ready the first quarter of next year
I understand why your can't but I sure wish you offered this on the Colonial.
I agree--I wish it wasn't going to be so much work
Jim....great new offer and have y ever considered making a youth rifle kit?
Possibly down the road, but we have no plans at this time
If I ever get things straightened out where I can buy one, I'll get one of these guns, I always wanted to build a kit to say I built one and I can't think of a better gun to get.
you can purchase a kit on our website, kiblerslongrifles.com/
i would like to see carving on the colonial rifle or a 58 cal rifled woods runner
I understand that. Neither are possible at this point in time.
Can't wait to see your Fowler Jim. You can't beat a fowler the variety of game is almost endless. But it is a short range weapon. Question i have is do you ship to Canada Ontario.
Our Fowler kit will be available in the first quarter of next year! We do ship to Canada. Thanks for watching!!
Looks great, would like to see a finished gun with the carving
We have a few pictures of a partially finished and aged rifle on facebook
Thank you love your work. I am fitter and turner never got into CNC. So I know better then most the abilities you and your staff have to produce such a fine rifle kit. Total fan
Is the sanding completed and ready to finish?
Cool man cool
thanks man.
Daisey said "their distracted and can't tell me "NO!"; YOLO!!!!
Is it possible you can do a video on fixing broken toe end, blown out hole?😢… asking for a friend.
Well Jim I think it is absolutely gorgeous and you've done a fabulous job designing that and I'm sure I'm not the only one that thinks that way. Now if someone had asked me that last question now remember it's me saying this I would have told him don't buy it by another one I mean you don't have to buy something you don't like. I wish we would have closed on my house this week because I absolutely would buy one. I like the Woods Runner anyway but now that you have vastly improved it or at least the wood on it I'm all for it. I don't mind progress especially when it looks that good. I'll say it again if you don't like something don't buy there is absolutely no sense in putting something down if you don't like it. So on that note I like it I think it's gorgeous and when I can I will buy one plain and simple. Thanks Jim you did a fantastic job I'm very impressed
Thank you very much for your kind comment and support!
I need one
Agreed!
The square, flat edge at the bottom of the stock. Is it traditionally flat and square, or is this left for finishing?
It's traditional to be flat. If you are trying to say shape it like a fowler buttplate, it's not reasonable to do with the rifle guard
Jim, are you planning on engraving metal pieces as well ? I'm still hopeful for a Hawken or Leman trade rifle !!
Maybe at some point
has jim ever entertained the idea of creating a book for design and patterns for carving and engraving long rifles? most books are either overly simple showing the most bare bones aspects or focus on the highest levels of the art. A middle ground that covers good drawing and design, how to balance carving and engraving on the architecture of a muzzleloader, and a section of motifs from originals and Jims work that readers could use to develop their own abilities. something being too perfect is a testament to his abilities.
Maybe down the road, but not currently.
May I suggest oak leaves and acorns as a carving motif?
Sorry, no!!
Jim, my 12-year-old grandson is Jonesing for one of your rifles for two years now. saving up his piggy bank.
My wish is a flintlock military rifle kit…any pattern, no matter how obscure…of this quality.
Can you tell me if you are going to carve the Locks in the same manner? and also, are you going to include a Cap Lock in the future?
The locks will come uncarved. We may have a caplock in the future
I'm still convincing my wife I need one
I just went to your site, and couldn't find the carved Woodsrunner anywhere. Maybe it'll take a day or so to show? Question: will you be selling the carved stocks as a stand-alone item? I'd love to replace my existing stock with a carved one, and use the old one to try my own carving.
It’s an option on the original Woodsrunner product. As you choose caliber and wood you also now choose carving or no carving
And yes, you can buy just the stock. Send Bree an email at bree@kiblerslongrifles.com
@@kiblerjim Thanks for the quick reply. I just checked out the difference in price for the carving. I think it's reasonable, but It's going to have to wait a bit while I refill the old piggy bank.
@@kiblerjimWill you be offering the woodsrunner barrels in a stand alone?
I'm trying to figure out how to use a flintlock in the rain. Not much fair weather hunting in the PNW. Any suggestions?
Some people have it under their coat or arm. a cows knee is a piece of leather shaped to keep the water off. Some people put some great around the edge of the pan to make it more waterproof
@@kiblerjim Thank You Jim for your response. I'll Be ordering one of your rifles soon.
Dave says mom I'm getting in to mudd
Nearly every day!
Jim, if people want it rough around the edges they can certainly rough one of your kits up then it would be perfectly rough ! lol
👍🏻
Just when I talked myself out of needing a carved stock, this video is downloaded into my memory.
That puppy dog didn't help.
Great - let us know if we can help you out! We love dogs around here
Daisy I'm so sorry I thought it was Dave
Haha, she doesn't mind
How about a sneak peak at the fowler
Katherine has been asking Jim about this and it's coming along, but he's not ready to post photos or video
When will we get the Hawken rifle
Not exactly sure
Y’all don’t shoot me for asking this but has anyone seen or done a two tone finish on a carved stock like these, perhaps a lighter stain or color to accent the carving?
I've seen that on original work, it's kind of rare. It could look good as long it's not too drastic
