Thanks for this! I am slowly working through learning what I need in OBS, adding a few new things after each livestream. I need to add the songs I'm playing in real-time and because I'm DJing from my iPad, I don't get to use a "now playing" plugin like I believe you can if I'm using the DJ software on my computer instead. This video is my intro to the text effects and this will indeed do the job, as I have to type out my playlist during the show. No plugins need; I like! But while I'm talking plugins, what do you recommend as a plugin to share chat comments on screen when using Twitch? I'm on MacOS. Again, really appreciate the good info!

Hi there great work on the tutorial. I have been trying to get the output from a text file, but every time i tri it its get cut. How much is the size of the txt file to not get it cutted down, if you know?

Hey Michael. Thanks for your very helpful tutorials. What is a good way to index a bunch of different text blocks that I can switch between using hotkeys? I teach cooking classes and want to have the ability to have ingredients for different recipes pop up on the side of my screen. Would like to use the same background and other effects I am bringing in with move transitions, but just want to be able to have different hot keys trigger different text to be displayed on top. Can you advise me what you think is the best solution?

Nice for a Ticker while there are also ticker plugins this one is just build into OBS.

This one proved to be incredibly useful!!! Read from file + Transform Bounding Boxes means that I can create a distributable for people in my company who can simply change their name and position in a couple of files and they can start using OBS! They don't need to do ANYTHING OBS related except hit the Go button.

Thank you for this, it's my second video of yours and I've subbed. What 'd like to know is if there's a plugin to change the direction of the text? Instead of having it flat against screen in an east/west direction...can it be changed to where the first letter of the text seems to pointing towards you and the remaining lets trailing in the back almost like a train?

My no.1 frustration with the OBS text tool is it's text length limit on horizonal scrolled text. It's the most basic ticker design yet you can't exceed more than 130 characters. I see here now I can display the quantity I want using a vertical scroll but that's a bit harder to read without using more space or slowing the text.

There is a plugin that has some great ones I did a video on here. czcams.com/video/1Ps3eyPCPB8/video.html
The other way is create your own animations in a video editor export them with the alpha and play them as media files.

Thanks. I just started using obs and hadn't scrolled down to see all the options for the text. lol.
I appreciate you taking the time to go through this.
I do wish there was a bit more functionality with the text box, though.
One example would be a bounding box for the text (if that's the correct term). The text on the left and right boundaries of the text box are too close to the edges. It would be good if a boundary around the edge of the text box could be set so the text might be more uniformly inside.
Another function that could come in handy would be for text to be able to get resized following a shape. An example could be the word "fish" and the text lays out following the shape of a fish. Even simple geometric shapes could be helpful, like "Music" coming out of an image or video of someone playing the Saxophone and it's shape starting out small and getting larger and larger.
Anyway, this isn't a criticism of your short video. It's just examples of functionality that would have been nice to use, and, from my limited exposure, it doesn't seem possible using obs.

Tutorial is very good. Thank you Question: I need to input 303 high school graduates names so they scroll from bottom to top of screen for opening scene of livestream graduation. I've got the scroll speed figured out - no problem. The dilemma is that OBS stops after it gets to 26 names (of the 303 kid's names). Then it loops and starts over. If I turn OFF the loop it stops scrolling once it gets through the first 26 names.
Tried putting the names into a saved Word document but OBS won't even open and read that file (only a .txt file). Is there some setting inside here that I can "tell" OBS to scroll ALL of the 303 names on my notepad txt file?
Doing all of this on a Windows PC with latest upgraded OBS and OS. Thanks
