    Take those water hyacinth plants out the pot and the roots will go to bottom and they will spread pretty quick and have a flower that blooms every couple weeks

    • @karenmccollister9664
      @karenmccollister9664 Před 3 lety +2

      I have a pond and I put water Hyacinth in it you just throw them in the water and they float and The Roots goes down and it gives the fish the cover and protection that they need you do not put them in pots they're not going to do what they're supposed to do they will spread and cover the whole surface of your pond because they are in invasive species of plant you cannot buy these water hyacinths in Florida but you can go out and get them in the wild which is what I do for my pond

    • @teresawarren3096
      @teresawarren3096 Před 3 lety +1

      I put the hyacinths in our pond and they took over, I just kept them thinned out by putting what I took out into the big sediment pond down the street and they multiplied and bloomed and were beautiful.

    • @marshmellow3110
      @marshmellow3110 Před 2 lety

      They float and multiply like crazy. Good for filtering your water as well. Leave them unattended and they will cover the whole pond. Lol. I used them in my bog filter above the waterfall for a koi pond. Also have some water lettuce. Also a fast grower. Just let them all float

    • @chris6054
      @chris6054 Před 2 lety

      @@karenmccollister9664 You can't buy them in Florida and they're also illegal to possess. $500 fine per plant if ya get caught. Not worth it, regardless of if you can go and get them.

      Cat tails anchored down with some heavy rocks work great at filtering water. I container garden, never used any filtration other than plants. Fish and plants make their own eco system. Algae is part of a pond. It's not an aquarium.

    • @robertaborchardt9694
      @robertaborchardt9694 Před 3 lety +1

      Duck weed is also invasive. You can also make a small floating island with plants and attach an anchor to keep it in place. It will give a deeper shade.

      @@robertaborchardt9694 it can be. But this is a enclosed pond and is useful extra feed for the chickens and the 4 leggers the Goldfish will eat it like candy. So it’s not really a issue for the tin pond

Also, you can put a finger under water, wiggle a little. Once they get use to that. Gradually get closer under their belly. You can lightly rub, and they will go to sleep.
    Lots of fun. I think they like it, because they will come running.

    Tank is looking good! Getting some dimension. Maybe add some more water plants to it, like lily pads, and maybe some frogs.
    I love Houston’s enthusiasm!

    #You must stop cleaning that filter. The collection of matter will create a natural balance in Houston’s fish pond.

    That moss rock is great for the top out of water for the turtle to sun on and he may eat the moss. Add another aerator for the tank and set it under another set of rocks or near it. Keep the water moving. Adding bacteria will help.
    The lettuce and hyacinth are above water floaters. They get really pretty flowers. My pond I use a pool noodle or a piece of hose to contain the floating plants.

    The pond is looking great. If you want to anchor the plants to a certain spot use fishing line. It's invisible & will keep the plant in the general location you want them to put roots down in 👍
