You've got to hand it to Guy, it doesn't have to be bikes or planes yet he still has that immense appreciation of everything he seen in Japan. Massive respect to him, such a good lad!

I'm friends with someone who grew up in Japan and some years ago he went back to visit so I went with him. We were only there for a week but it was an amazing experience. Japan is so organised and the people are so polite. One event sticks in my mind when we were in a cafe and I went to the toilet and tripped over a bag which a customer had left near the table. When I looked up there were three guys, smartly dressed but absolutely covered in tattoos and wearing expensive jewellery. One stood up and apologised and bowed, I did the same and then went off to the toilet. I came back out and they once again apologised even though it was me who tripped over their bag. I was talking to my friend after and he said they were very likely Yakuza. Even the organised crime bosses in Japan are polite and generally don't interfere with normal citizens' lives. I apologised and showed them respect and they were polite in return. Foreigners are a novelty to some Japanese people and they are very curious if they see someone who obviously isn't Japanese. Everyone respects the law, they drive politely and on two occasions I was approached by police who bowed and asked if I needed help etc. It helps having someone who can translate with you as well though as English is not as widely spoken as it is in for example China or other Asian countries.

Japan is superior no doubt. Clean streets, polite and respectful people and somehow the big cities work well even tho they have super high population density.
Low crime. People dont even lock their mopeds when they shop grocery....

When I used to live in Japan, you’d often see people leave their scooters running outside convenience stores whilst doing their shopping. They know that the scooter will still be there on their return. I’m London, I use a solid chain and disc lock when doing my shopping and have no idea whether it’ll be there when I get back 😂

Just here to say that you inspire me massively as a character. The passion you have in motorbikes, engines, exploring and always up for a challenge astounds me. I’m a combat medic in the Army born in Lincolnshire and all I want is to be on the road with my dream bike. But I’m only 17 and started my career young so I’ve got some time to go unfortunately. But keep up the amazing work Guy.

I don't believe that any major high tech industries in Japan source their critical stuff from back street machinists with 1970,s era lathes and hand held micrometers, Japan has world leading CNC plants that do this work way more accurately and consistently than old grandpa there. The 76 micron tolerance he stated Is 3 thou , that's not a particularly tight tolerance , we used to work to a quarter of a thou by feel.
