  • How to survive severe storms in an RV. This was an unplanned video thanks to the tornado threat we went through a couple days ago. We have been through a couple earthquakes, 4 tornado watches and now 2 tornado warnings. It gets real when the area you are staying in with your RV is in a tornado warning zone. We prepared for the worse and hoped for the best when there was a tornado warning for us. Thankfully all went well for us and the tornado fizzled out before getting to us. We talk about what we did to prepare and the tips for surviving storms in an RV. This is what we did when we heard the tornado warning issued. If you have any tips put them in the description box below the video.

Very informative as always. Way to practice the 5 P's. Prior Planning Prevents Poor Performance. Instead of bottled water you could consider a one time purchase of a Sawyer Squeeze water filter. They make various sizes/kits. Hikers and preppers use them (as do we). Would allow you to make just about any available water drinkable, even puddles. Lightweight and guaranteed to last for more filtration than you'll probably ever use. Stay safe. 🙏🏼

@@GetGonewithUS That'll work.👍🏼 I figured you all probably already had something from the WeRmudfun gear. Pluses/minuses and pros/cons to each. Katadyn, Sawyer, Steripen, Lifestraw, all just personal preference and application etc. but all better than nothing. And all better to have and not need, than to need and not have. Happy travels.

Great tips C&C, get under the bed.....that’s funny. Although you might have them already. I do have a few other simple things for ya’ bug out bag. 1. Small hand towels 2. Wet ones or the alike. 3. Rain ponchos 5. handheld or Head flashlights 6. Bottles of waters 7. Hand crank radio and lastly 8. Check out the lay of the land for the best “alternative” possible way out of the campground or area (in the Jeep that is ;) to higher ground. You’re right on point with the tips! 👍🏼

I love the humor y'all have about the tornadoes and tropical storms!I lived on both coasts and everywhere in the middle except for Utah and Alaska, but until I move to Missouri I never was near a tornado!
I lived Clinton MO, a small town at the Lake of the Ozarks. We had just bought a house 10 days earlier and gotten moved in when the air raid sirens went off. I couldn't figure out what the devil was going on. Too many years overseas with the military taught me air raid sirens were never a good thing. I didn't know what to do, so I sent my family to the basement & proceeded to call the police to find out what was happening. The woman said "Tornadoes" & hung up! I'm thinking so what... I've been through hurricanes, monsoons, earthquakes, tropical storms and dirt devils- how bad could a tornado be! so I called the police back and asked what should I do, "BASEMENT" she yelled at me. So I walked out on the front porch😂 (my father always said there was something not quite right about me), to see if any of my neighbors were outside. Nope. But a police car came down the street slowly + pulled into our driveway & he started yelling at me too! he demanded to know why my front porch light was off! He told me you turn ON your light if you're home, that way if there's damage they know to look for somebody.look up trying to figure out why nobody wrote all these rules down when I signed the papers for my house. Is he standing there reading me the riot act about 7 streets over, we watched as a family of tornadoes moves like pogo sticks. I asked him what was that. He said lady those were tornadoes!
The next day we took a trip around the town to find a wadded up tissue 4 stories high which had been the drive-in movie, furniture, fences, rooves... Those tornadoes did a horrendous amount of damage and kept on going almost to Chicago!
I LOVE what you keep in your go bags! VERY VERY SMART!

Thanks for sharing. Like #84. You have wheels, I thought you would say - MOVE! Although, they can happen anytime! Thanks for all the tips! Some more are: bring in your slides; more surface area is a bigger parachute. March-June is the worst time for tornadoes in the south, it slowly moves West and north (google it). I think the best time to visit this area is Oct-Feb.

We were in Red Bay AL, and got the tornado Siren around 3PM. Luckily we had already found a dog friendly shelter at the local Methodist church. No touch down in Red Bay that day, and I really don't want to know if our rig floats or flies! 6 wheels on the ground is a good goal!
