Awesome thorough review! I think it would sound good following my MBD2 and am on the lookout for nearly this exact type of effect for that spot, but that internal volume trim pot might be a deal killer. Of all the controls to hide, why volume? And with there only being three controls, why hide any of them at all?
Agreed, personally one of my biggest issues when it comes to internal controls is when it's the master volume. That tends to be the one i use the most, especially when i am using different instruments with the same pedal.
As a sludgey boost it's pretty cool on the VI not so much the flatwound shortscale. The EQ curve says to me that it might stack well after a rat or a mud forward gnarly fuzz like a brassmaster
Agreed! Thats something i want to try. It colours everything so much that theres some interesting tones to be had.
The pedal really shined with your 6 string!!! For me, although I'd love to experiment with it, the price feels too high for experiments (I'm sure it has impeccable craftsmanship).
Agreed, its not cheap, I was lucky to find it on sale so it was a bit cheaper than usual and i had been pretty curious about it. I think its cool but, as you point out, it might sound better in some setups than others and that can be a bit of a risk to take when there are plenty of other pedals at that price point and below.

Thanks! Yeah, its really its own thing and i think people will either like that or they wont. Personally, i'm glad i have it but i'm not totally sure where i will use it.
It seems a bit too saturated with the low tuning - it perks up a lot with the bass vi. It's like tape farting in the subs. Thanks for showing us these pedals!
You're welcome James! What i've noticed is that its only really clean below 9 o'clock on the gain dial and with the EQ being affected by both knobs, it's an interesting one to balance with a clean tone. I really do like how coloured it is BUT I think i'd have to be pretty sure i'd want that much colour before putting it on a pedalboard. Like, i could see how you could build a board around this, with this as your core sound but as that would mean ditching everything else and starting from scratch it could be more hassle than its worth. Still, i like what it does and im glad i have it. I think i'll keep it around.
