THE BEST WAY TO HYDRO DIP CARBON FIBER | Liquid Concepts | Weekly Tips and Tricks - Jak na to + styl
Love the technical videos.. learning the way water flows over objects is so crucial.. that front section of the console was a super technical dip and you made it look easy.. i find myself sometimes doing a dry run with complicated objects to find the best flow...i like your videos because it's all real time, I could see you thinking it through before the commitment and then just going for it..would love to see a technical video of your rinsing process both in the machine and by hand from dip to rinse... I've been dipping for several years and still question my rinsing process at times...
Alden thank you! I will see about getting a video done with our rinsing process to get posted :)
Beautiful job. Excellent instruction, too! Thanks!
Thank You!
Legend! Thanks for the Tips. Great work!
Your welcome!
This is really good! Definitely deserves a a lot more views. I'm subscribing to this! thanks
Thank you!
That was awesome job man, and excellent tutorial. Thumb up
About 4 months ago I browsed Facebook for a dipping company with great reviews and came across your page and someone else's. Unfortunately i went with the other company and now i couldn't regret it more (especially noticing the flaws on mine that you avoided in this video). I'll be calling you guys for my next projects
I hate to hear that you are not as happy with your finished product! We would definitely be happy to help you with any future projects you may have.
Looks dope man !
Thanks Bryan for Tips and Tricks ... ;)
No problem! glad you enjoyed watching the video!
Awesome, this is the first time i've seen hydro-dipping, it's results seem better than wrapping small pieces.
Yes it us much better than a wrap as far as durability, longevity and how intricate of parts you can dip.
Results are a lot better when it comes to longevity and durability as it uses a clearcoat
Spoke with Brittney earlier today about doing some carbon work on a custom grille for my F150. I can’t wait to stop by your shop and see what you can do for me. I like how you’re very informative about the process.
Sounds good!
The amount of knowledge here is amazing. You make it look so easy!
Thank you!
That’s sick!!! Looks real 😍
Thank you!
Those are so clean! We do plenty of carbon fiber at our shop but its always great to learn something new
Is it the carbon fiber with the glue on it that one would use to wrap the bash?
Thanks!
Gorgeous! The final clearcoat shine minus any dust nibs AND orange peel almost looks better than true CF while being significantly cost advantageous to the vehicle owner. Beautiful work!
Yes this is why we really like the hydrographics as it can sometimes make parts that are not suitable for real carbon molds look like carbon and still get a perfect high gloss or even satin finish!
Liquid Concepts, LLC I’m interested in getting my interior done for my mk4 Supra what’s the cost
@@ivan2jzbunny Ivan if you have some photos and approximate measurements email then over to info@liquidconcepts.com and we would be more than happy to get you a quote!
Very Cool it looks amazing and a lot of fun going to your site right now!

This was a really good video, I really like the way carbon fiber looks and it just looks really awesome on this dip.
Glad you liked it!

I'd love ton try that
Yes its a very neat process!
everyday i learn about this.tq for this video.
That is great! I am glad you enjoy the videos we make as we certainly enjoy making them to help teach you!
GREAT video! That final clip of the finished part looks awesome! The clear is so flat.Did you have to color-sand/buff it,or is that the finish from the gun?Thank You for sharing, you gained a sub today!
This was shot straight out of the gun if I remember right. Thanks for subscribing!
Damn Man, You have definitely provided some serious inspiration! Great video!

yes great job!
I have a question
i always see it on plastic
Is it also possible on black painted metal ?
hi I have a one question after the Deeping do you make a some paint to protect it or stay like that?
Thanks
Nice! That certainly looks like an advanced maneuver. Came out super well. Thanks
You bet! Thanks for watching !!
Very nice, love the carbon fiber!
Great vid for instruction as well.
Thank ya ; )
Glad you liked it!
Next time it will be nice to see the finish work installed on the car, nice vid.
Sometimes we are able to included installed photos but in this particular cases the customer shipped us the parts so we did not get to take any installed photos.
Finish looks great!
Thanks!
This is so beautiful it make me wanna cry!

Total information about dip in a single video. Thank u
Glad it was helpful!
I thoroughly enjoyed this video, That was a great demonstration... you are really fantastic at your craft... keep up the good work buddy..
Thank you so much 😊
Hello I have a question for you. I'm going to dip the headlight housing of a NA miata. The problem is that this part has 3 linked sides, like an open cube. How should it dip it without causing excessive stretch?
Great Video, the coatings turned out fabulous, This is all too new for me, could you kindly mention what an activator is if there is a brand i can shop for?
Hi it is a hydrographic activator. We actually sell the exact activator we use. www.liquidconcepts.com/shop/product-group/supplies/activator
Thanks for the tips looks great 👍
Any time!
Great video. I'm tryin to get started doing Hydro dipping I appreciate all your tip videos
Glad to help.
Awesome process! Are you taking on any work for new car pieces? Mainly interior and 2 under hood pieces. Thank you.
Thank you! Yes we are always taking on new work for any custom work that you may have. If you want, shoot us an email at info@liquidconcepts.com and we can get you pricing on what your wanting done.
This looks so amazing. I’d like to have some engine plastics done. Can the finished product withstand under hood temps?
I have this question as well
Great Job!
Great video one question
You have to wait for the grapich. Dry. And. Them clear coat ??
Wow that turned out great
Thanks Anthony!
I have gone through more than 10 videos .. but u teached perfect
Thats great to hear! I am glad you are liking the videos!
Since I can't find Carbon Fiber parts for my Truck. This is the Alternative. Awesome video. Thanks for the inspiration.
Hey bro, the water inside that machine, is it pure water or did you put any chemicals whatsoever in it? Thanks!
Great video! I'm trying to dip my rims and just to be clear when using carbon the piece being dipped needs to be painted before and a clear protective coat after?
Yes that is correct. You need to base coat the part, dip it and then clear coat it for the protection.
@@Pens4Life85 I guess it's more a prepper, a primer
@@Pens4Life85 It lets the film stick to it better, like paint. Also, parts of the film are clear, so what's under the film shows through as a color. That's why he painted the console parts that charcoal gray, and that's what made the result look real. If he had painted it pink, then it would have looked like pink carbon fiber. If you have a grungy, bare wheel under it, then that is going to show through and look ugly. I kind of think of it like spraying Candy paint - you need to have a nice basecoat as it will show through the Candy and affect how it's going to look.
Terrible video... just say NO to dipping.
awxome guys so much help in the uk for me ☝
Great job sir nice video it looks just as good as the real thing AMAZING
Thank you very much!
great job love what u do iam getting started in this work an your damn good!
what type of clear coat do u use?
Thank you! We actually use all our own clears. On this particular project we used our High Solids Glamour Clear that you can find from this link - www.liquidconcepts.com/shop/product-detail/high-solids-glamour-clear-kit
Very informative information about the job thanks
thats just awesome
Thank You !!
Fantastic.
Thanks !!
That second dip was impressive
Thank you!
WoW great job. On the piece you dip, I see that in some area the carbon patterns are curved. Can you avoid these curves? Thanks
Making hydrographics great again... i like that... nice technique... learnt a lot
Glad you liked it
Looks amazing
Thank you!
Awesome, first time i see this process.
Yes its a very awesome process!
I got your twill weave CF and forged CF. The forged one came out nice, just like your video on that. However, I'm having a little big problem with the twill weave CF. Once I spray the activator on, it tends to expand and turn from a rectangular piece into almost circular, stretching areas on the pattern out and ruin it.
Do you have any idea why and how I can stop that from happenibg?
Are you containing the film well? If you have photos or video you can send to my email along with the steps you are doing I will be more than happy to troubleshoot with you. info@liquidconcepts.com
Just purchased the realistic carbon fiber, looks awesome! Great video! Since your out of your can based activator, would other brands work? Or do you know when you'll get some more in? Thanks!
We are hoping to have this back in early this week!
@@LiquidConceptsUSA Thanks, much appreciated.
@@LiquidConceptsUSA Pleased to see you did get more activator in which I just ordered. My film arrived in a short amount of time with everything done in a professional manner! Great company!
Amazing!
I have a couple of questions: is it heat resistant? In the car could be at summertime over 130℉!
is it scratch resistant? Or need to cover in addition with varnish for protection and shine?
Clear coat is practically required, just like any half decent paint job. And the film will hold up to temps so long as the clear coat does.
Thanks for the great video! How many coats of clear did you use?
Thanks! Normally we apply 2-3 coats of clear for any job we have.
What a awesome job. My question is how long will that last? Will it fade over time from the sun? Does extreme cold weather affect it? Is it fairly economical?
Because this process is just like a cars finish, it will last for years and years to come and it will be permanent. I am not sure as economical as every place has their own set pricing for certain items.
Looks fantastic
Thank You!
Thanks man great video
Your Welcome!
Looks a decent carbon that great work
Thanks 👍
Fascinating to watch.
Thanks!
Thank You Bro ❣️🔥
Welcome 😊
Dope man, keep it up!
I wanted to ask that did u use any primer or something for the shiny finish?
why is the activator that important.......
For the shiny finish we actually used a high end automotive clear coat to make sure it was very durable and the coating was scratch resistant. For the activator, you have to make sure you get it right on spraying the film because if you dont, then the dip wont come out right and then we would have to redo it!
I really appreciate the speed & your help thanks alot 🙏 ☺️❤️❤️
@@HTrntrs not a problem!
The 2nd more complicated piece dip and thought process behind how to dip it was good.
hey im your subscriber, im also from malaysia
New information for me, tq
Really nice man... very helpful
Thank You!
Wow how awesome. What does this cost to do, and how do you calculate cost? How much time, skill, specialty tools and base product is needed as welk?
Great video and work guys!
Thank you
Thanks for this video on carbon fiber I did my BMW came out good but I know what you’re talking about not matching exactly perfect now I’m doing my Corvette and I want that perfect. I tried to do a test piece a black carbon on flat black and it didn’t show it up a good enough so I gotta go to a metallic gray or dark silver.🔥👌
Yes I agree over black you can barely notice the carbon. We recommend a charcoal metallic base color
Nice!!!
Thank You!
Question, ones you hydro dip, do you clean the part with just water? Right away?
Yes you rinse the part off with water. You can rinse right away or even wait a few minutes. It wont hurt anything.
I would like to see the prep and clear coating process.
Great man
Thanks!
nice result
Thanks!
As a composite tech and a hydro dipper for many years it’s unfair to say that real carbon fibre does not look better than the film that’s made to look like carbon
Yes we always try to tell our customers that real carbon fiber and dipped carbon fiber will never match as well as each one will have a different look.
Big difference in price though ??
@@boxster21 it's mostly a difference in application dipped parts are made to look like carbon fiber when it's difficult or impossible to make the part in actual carbon. That console for example would take a multi-part carbon fiber piece in which you would have seen lines and it's not what you want for a center console so they dip it instead.
@@jonf2009they do sell actual carbon fiber dashes for c5 corvettes (console used in video) but they're ridiculously expensive and for weight saving applications
@@swooby8824 yeah they get so expensive because making a carbon-fiber part that has multiple inlets and outlets and have tabs and other odd angle parts, you end up spending time making multiples of them because you have air bubbles in corner pockets and so the part is junk when it comes out and so you end up spending lots of time and materials getting one that finally comes out in a usable shape.
Good job
Thank you!
I need my corvette parts done the same as shown in this video but for 2019 grand sport. The console and steering wheel bottom plate and gauge cluster how to get it done by you. What is the turn around time for you to do this
We can certainly help you out with this! Shoot us an email with pictures of what you have and what your wanting done and we can get back with you on pricing and turn around time. Email - info@liquidconcepts.com
Thank you for all tips.. I hope we can do in home but not better.... 😃
Glad you enjoyed the video!
Hey man, how much was your tub setup, and where could someone purchase a cost efficient, yet, still effective one? Thank you! Nice work you do by the way!
Ours was a pretty decent price as we are the ones that manufactured it so I got it at a great price! There is quite a few used ones on the market as well as some cheaper fiberglass and aluminum tanks that other people make.
It looks very nice..you done a very good job...I would like to ask you what type of clear you use for finishing...thanks
If you check the description you will see the link to the clear coat we used on this.
Looks Awesome. After it is rinsed and dry. Is there any prep before you clear it ?
As long as it is fully dried and you have done any needed touch ups then you are ready to clear
Good work looks goods. Quick question I want to try this on some trim pieces, the color is already a charcoal gray, would you recommend to sand or any prep work before applying the hydro dip?
Nice job and great video! Whats the name of the Carbon fiber you used in this vid ?
Thank you! This one is our "realistic carbon fiber" www.liquidconcepts.com/shop/product-detail/realistic-carbon-fiber
hey buddy, thanks for the heads up :) i have 1 question. what if you messed up with the color? do you take it back to ground base?
outstanding presentation sir!
Thank you kindly!
Sheesh this is the best I’ve seen , how much would it cost to do the radio bezel ?
Can you please do a video covering everything to know about dipping exterior door handles in carbon fiber? Thanks!
We will certainly add that to the line up!
@@LiquidConceptsUSA much appreciated thanks 🤙
Awesome.
Thanks!
Is it necessary to lay down a base coat of paint before dipping? I'm looking to dip my interior trim peices but if that's the case, I'll have to source another set of trim peices so I don't have to worry about messing up
Yes unfortunately it as if you try to dip the pieces directly the print will not adhere properly.
Bryan, good job.
Thank you!
What size of the tip of spraygun that you've using for the activator?.
We use a 1.4 Tip.
Hi Bryan!
I dont really understand the water process? If i buy carbon fiber wrap and place it on top of the water will i get the same result as shown in the video? Or is there something special or else thats required
This is actually not a wrap but a film. It has quite a few more steps to it prior to putting it on the water. The piece has to be properly prep, primered and painted before dipping the item. Once the film is activated after applying the activator you can dip the item, rinse, touch up if needed and then clear the finished piece.
